As the group moved in the directions given too them by their employer Jaq thought about a few things. The first was that was it rather amusing that the group as whole was one of the things that made this job so dangerous. Each one of them might just stab the other in the back just to get all of the money. Even though he wasn't the type to do any sort of backstabbing, Jaq was surprised to find himself evaluating each and every one of the group, judging how much of a threat each one of them was to him.
The tallest one, the Akalak called Z, was a dangerous to be sure and merited a look from Jaq's good eye every few seconds. His pets merited a look themselves. Together with his dogs, the tall blue guy was definitely a major threat. The short one in all black, Sasin, reminded Jaq of several people he had met who fell 'short' in his line of work. However his amusement over the man's height was the only thing that kept him smiling when it came to the short one. He seemed cold, and something familiar about him made Jaq's scar's ache like they did when bad weather was just over the hills. Then there was the last of the group, who didn't even seem to belong here. It was plain to see Weyliss didn't believe in the treasure. Despite Jaq's wanting to write him off as a non-threat kinda person, his built body suggested a great deal of strength.
The odd mix of people that made up this group wasn't the only thing that made this group dangerous though. Their employer Jason was surely hiding something. He evaded questions better then a fox could evade hunting hounds, and he made it look like he was offering all he knew each time he did so. Even as he made it seem that the hounds were catching up to him, giving them glimpses of the truth the fact remained the same. He was truly leading them to a pit where he had led so many others to death.
Then there was the magic. Considering what he had been taught as a child there was great deal to worry about here. It sounded like the magic being spoken of might be a powerful golem. The magic that brought golem's to life had the potential to create skilled, intelligent, tireless warriors made out of woods and metal. If the animator so chose they could make them without fear, with only the driving goal they were made with at their conception to occupy their thoughts. Perhaps even driven mad by years of solitude, whatever guards that protected the cave would be something to avoid.
With thoughts on the dangers of their mission occupying his thoughts, Jaq almost didn't notice as the group came to the river bed. When they reached it they would have to begin searching for a cave that glowed green upon being touched. Oh joy. If Jaq was right about the magic the group would need to work together once they found the cave, without the fear of a blade between their shoulders courtesy of one of the others nagging at them from the back of their heads. Speaking clearly enough so the whole group could hear him while keeping his carefree demeanor, Jaq said, "The tension in this group so thick I might actually be able to cut it with one of the many blades available. Perhaps one should be less worried about the possibility of betrayal from within the group and more worried about what pitfall that cowardly cunning fox Jason is leading us to. He mentioned that magic guarded the cave, and that perhaps the cave itself was magic. I've run down my fair share of nutty magic men doing some bad deeds and I can tell the lot of you magic can be quite dangerous to tangle with." In truth Jaq had only known a few other magician's, and none of them had been running rampant as he had said. But he did know how few limits there were to skilled wizards. "Perhaps it be best that until we get the treasure we put our plotting ways aside, lest none of us survive the dangers the cave might present. What do you say?"
