So much happened so quickly that it was becoming hard for Gaius to follow events. Slowly, his focus peeled away from Evora and the Svefra and he pushed his attention towards the man who was speaking to him. Until now, Gaius had paid him the least amount of attention, but now he realized that the man was speaking to him, asking questions.
"...been keeping? How's your leg feeling?" the man asked. Gaius paused for a moment to look the man over, not quite sure why he seemed so familiar. Then, all at once, things came rushing back. A hunt in the forest, a fire, wolves. Mordechai. Slowly a smile spread across Gaius' features and he embraced Mordechai with enthusiasm, releasing him a moment later.
"Mordechai, it's wonderful to see you again. The leg is fine, no doubt better off than that arm of yours, eh?" Gaius asked, jovial and joking in his whole manner. The sudden shift from quiet, brooding figure to laughing jokester might well have convinced some of the others he was a madman, but he couldn't care less. It was just good to see his friend once more.
"So, what have you been at then? It seems like so long since we've seen each other, so much has happened. Tell me, what has life done with you since then?"
