Gender: Male

Technical Information

Skin: White, Tanned
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Hazel
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 295.8 lbs. (88.8 pounds of which is granite)

Description
Broad shoulders and a powerful frame distinguish his appearance from afar. Those closer to him will note his face and skull are kept clean shaven. His left hand and face, when revealed, show evidence of scores of puckered scars which mar the flesh in a most unattractive manner. This limits his facial expression and has given his left eyelid the appearance of drooping lazily over his field of vision. The scars are less frequent and less deep on the left side of his chest, as well as his left arm and leg. His voice is a deep baritone, which carries far even when speaking softly.

Currently, when not armored, he is garbed in a leather outfit that leaves his chest bare under a vest and jacket.

In the Spring season of 510 A.V. Sturlin's magic led him to overgive, the consequences of which were many. Among the permanent physical consequences were ten plates of granite which formed on the outside of his legs. One for the front of each thigh, and each shin. One for the back of each thigh, and each calf. One for the top of each foot. These plates are independent of each other, not stretching over his joints to connect. They weight approximately 88.8 pounds when combined.

Personality
Sturlin desires to be self-sufficient, but is currently woefully short of his goal. While he can supplement his needs with hunting and scavenging, he currently needs to visit civilization on occasion to restock supplies or replace damaged gear. The more people there are, the more questions there are, so he tends to keep his interactions with others short and simplistic. This is not to imply that he does not desire companionship, only that he does not desire it often and will distrust even those he chooses to spend time with.

Ethics
Whatever you can get away with is acceptable. He does not actively seek to harm others, but he feels no compulsion to safeguard their well being. His moral ambiguity is most dangerous when he feels threatened. With his own life and needs as his only priority, he can become dangerous if he feels that others are threatening that.

Likes
Animals are dear to his heart. Rare is the domesticated animal which will turn on its master, and rarer still is the one who will judge you. While he does not believe his animals are able to fully comprehend his words, he can frequently be spotted speaking to them as a way to clear or comfort his mind.

Dislikes
He has very few specific dislikes but his taciturn nature is often mistaken for hostility. However, he does hold specific enmity of magicians.

Pre-Creation
Sturlin was trained in Reimancy against his will and from an early age. His father's name is known to him only as 'Sir', "Teacher', or 'Master'. The young boy's master was, most unfortunately, one of the many Reimancers to have succumb to the insanity of overgiving. This trauma to his mind and his body left him dangerous, unpredictable, and highly paranoid.

During his early adolescence the boy was rescued from this dangerous environment by his father's uncle, by the name of Kardeg. Kardeg, Sturlin, and many enterprising warriors of Sunberth worked together to dispose of the insane magician. During the struggle the young man's mother was slain, as were many of the hired swords which aided in the battle.

The remainder of Sturlin's life, before adulthood, was spent under the tutelage of his Uncle Kardeg. Kardeg was an aged widower, a hunter, and a former mercenary. Several years before collecting his grand-nephew he had retired to a life in the Wildlands. A wily and dangerous mountain man, Kardeg reveled in the constant struggle for survival he found there. Sturlin learned much from him before his death sometime in the year 509 A.V.

Reimancy is an imprecise discipline often utilized by men who either are or eventually become unhinged. At the insistence of his Uncle, Sturlin conducted minor experiments throughout his time in the wilderness. It was Kardeg's hope that discipline, self control, and character would help prevent his grand-nephew from walking down the same path as his father. Teaching Sturlin how to survive on his own and how to safeguard himself was the main focus of the final years of his life.

During one such experiment Kardeg lost his life and Sturlin was hideously maimed. He does not discuss the circumstances with others nor does he readily admit the source of his scars and what they cost him. It is clear that the incident has not deterred him from pursuing the goals that he and his grand-uncle had laid out together, whatever they may be. These goals have led him into the Cobalt Mountains, and into Syliras.
