This northernmost city is the home of Morwen, The Goddess of Winter, and her followers who dwell year round in a land of frozen wonder. [Lore]
"The pleasure would be mine," Geothryn replied, smiling lightly at the young storyteller. He has heard her in the past, and so was eager to help her extraordinary storytelling in any way he could. Picking a light melody on his lute, Geo asked, "What story are you going to tell tonight?"
Everything seems to be returning to normal, so forecast is normal posting rate with a chance of binge posting on the weekends.
Bora smiled happily at Geothryn's acceptance to her proposal and took the last step onto the stage, turning to face the crowd. Some light applause was ushered in at the prospect of a story and the female Vantha leaned in close to her partner in this endeavor, whispering into his ear.
"I will be telling a tale of the first Frostworm."
It was clear that this was a source of great delight for the woman, who was often somber and thoughtful especially in concern to her younger sister. Here, however, she was free from her normal worries, and could truly represent her Hold in all of it's glory.
"I'll let you set the tempo, just do what feels right."
Bora had never found that telling a musician exactly what to play ever helped one illuminate a story. She was sure he was capable enough to keep up with her, and was content with whatever the lute player would produce from his instrument. With that she stepped towards the front of the stage and prepared for her companion's queue to begin.
Sliver watched in anticipation. She reflected on how this girl had grabbed the audiences attention completely even before the story had begun, her coy manner and the way that she whispered into the musician's ear, if the crowd hadn't already been eager for a story, they were most certainly enthralled now. The wolverine smiled, whatever would come next, she was sure would be good.
A couple barmaids ran around frantically, trying to get the last of the drinks out in order to not create any unneeded noise when the story began.
When the young girl leaned in and whispered her chosen tale into his ear, Geothryn felt the corners of his mouth tug upward in a smile. This was one of his favorite yarns, a heroic story filled with dashing adventure and daring deeds, valiant figures braving the wilds on a quest for glory and fame. A good choice for the crowd tonight, quite a few of which were part of the Icewatch. They would especially appreciate it.
Thinking for a moment, Geo cleared his throat for no apparent reason and plucked a few notes from his lute. He began a lilting melody that went up and down the octaves, high to low to high again, leaving the listener questioning the direction of the song. Then he played two high notes of ascending tone followed by a counter-note one octave lower. Copying this sequence and bridging the space between with a strum , he set up a simple, repetitive song that set the stage for the beginning of the story and filled the listeners with... Not apprehension, but its close cousin. He filled them with a gentle impatience and the yearning to travel.

Faint lips pursed in preparation. Though the shadow of a smile still hung on her features, it was clear that the Snowsong was all business at this point. As the music began Bora became exceedingly grateful that she let the man have his musical freedom, the introduction to her song had just the right amount of anticipation while still keeping a low profile for the adventure to come.
“Our tale begins on a day light and cold, much like any other.”
Bodies leaned forward in anticipation.
“Morwen was absent from the land Gone to tend to the realm So in these warmer days Vantha worked and played As always counting the time Till the Goddess returned
Eventually time did come For the greatest hunt of all Of Icewatch and hunter alike To travel to the wastes afar Sabre teeth they would strike With tear filled goodbyes And promises of return The party went marching out
A dozen in all crossed the ice With skills great and wide They’d find these beasts and Take them down, with much Gusto and pride
The trip was long, the air was cold But higher and higher they climbed Until they reached the snowy wastes Where mammoths and tigers ran free
It was here the party set up camp Preparing for the fight ahead And as many slept they tossed and turned Seeing shadows of Dira’s tread..."
Some recognized the story, for others it would be the first time they had heard it. It was an old tale, and because of the rarity of frost worms sometimes even the Vantha took it for a myth, but it was clear the crowd was enjoying themselves, eyes glued to the stage, feet tapping to the beat provided by the accompanying musician. Bora's voice was somewhere between a lilting song and regular speech, the cadence of her words thrumming throughout the crowd. Sliver closed her eyes as she sat there, imaging the scenes as Bora described them, letting the sounds of storytelling pass through her ears without seeing the figures that surrounded her.
Keeping up with the storyteller, Geothryn changed the direction of the song as the yarn unraveled. A deep, keening tune that would have brought tears to the audiences' eyes when she spoke of Morwen's absence. When she spoke of marching, he changed the tempo of his playing to an upbeat marching beat. Short paths into higher octaves inspired courage and a feeling of loyalty to the Icewatch as they trekked across the barren Wastes.
And now, it was time to build suspense. He strummed the lute softly, plucking its strings every so often with a strong, deft motion to add a strong counter-point. Music filled the room, and, with ever increasing volume, Geothryn almost had the audience sitting at the edges of their seats. He almost had himself sitting at the edge of his seat!

Here the storyteller grabbed herself a stool and sat down as if the next part of her tale was hard even for her to say. One hand drifted across her face, wiping away non-existent sweat, and pinching her temple. When her gaze met the crowd, baby blue eyes had turned troubled like a stormy sea, and her pale lips parted in a frown. Her actions in time with the suspenseful music had everyone enthralled. She leaned forward and spoke just loud enough for everyone in the room to hear if they were absolutely silent, the mood of the tale complete for the young teller.
"Morwen’s mark ceased to aid And the cold consumed Ice and wind covered every bark strip And soon 12 became 8..."
She paused long enough for the gravity of this amount of great hunters just succumbing to the cold to sink in, body swaying slightly in time with Geothryn’s mournful melody.
"As they dug the earth Returning companions to whence they came Ground rumbled beneath feet And no one knew what lay ahead
They would not turn back Not without a prize Some called it folly, others pride But they knew it was the only way The ghosts of the fallen would be satisfied
The land was empty No sabreteeth, no wolves Not even a rabbit could be found
Determination became fear For what would scare even mammoths From their sacred wastes?
It was a day warmer than the rest The warriors marching in line Crossing the expanse When the creature exploded from the earth itself..."
She had been slowly rising off of her chair as she spoke and now she leapt up, stool tipping over on its side, hands in the air. They came down almost immediately, vibrant blue eyes watching the faces of the crowd, asking them if they were ready for the next part of the tale. All gazes said they were.
The Kelvic was simply beside herself as the tale continued. What sort of creature was this. Leaning forward with the rest of the audience, the Kelvic felt a resounding feeling in her gut that may have been pride for the abilities of the people she had adopted to protect.
Ledger: -2 gold mizas and 3 copper mizas for the glass of milk and Night’s Special
Notes: A slow moving thread indeed. It is unfortunate the this thread died out when the main stars of the show slowly became inactive.
Moving on, it’s interesting how you used Bora to liven things up once more when it was starting to become monotonous. Sometimes though, I felt that Bora Snowsong was already stealing the focus from Sliver. I know it was to keep the thread going in a certain direction, but you may have to watch out for that in future threads.

Notes When grading threads, I always ask people to give details when writing. Your posts mostly lack them, and they are very short for this kind of roleplay as well. You may want to make them longer, and there are many ways you can do this.
Because you disappeared early in the thread, there wasn't too much to award here. PM me if you feel I've missed anything.
For Geothryn and Faelyn :
Since the two of you has not logged in and posted for quite a long time, I will hold your grade back for now. Once you come back, please update your character sheets then PM me for your grade.
True nobility lies in being superior to your former self
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your grade, please send me a PM and we can figure it out. Heehee.
