While Sylira is by far the most civilized region of Mizahar, countless surprises and encounters await the traveler in its rural wilderness. Called the Wildlands, Syliran's wilderness is comprised of gradual rolling hills in the south that become deep wilderness in the north. Ruins abound throughout the wildlands, and only the well-marked roads are safe.

Everstone Forest
Early afternoon
40th day ofWinter, 512 AV

The sun beats down on Laioath as he walks the untamed stone jungle. Holding an old, long, died out branch in on hand, he lurches past rocks and trees. His reason for being in an unforgiving location is because he’s searching for something that a dear family member lost. He heard the whereabouts of this item from a stranger. The stranger claims, He was a student that when on one of his sister’s explorations to collect exotic ingredients for alchemy. Laioath’s sister, Carline, was about to reach to grab a plant but slipped, and her bag dropped. She manages to get her footing, as well as her bag, but a copy of her grimoire fell out. The book fell somewhere in between a distinct rock that vaguely looked like a tiger, or a large feline. The grimoire was Laioath’s target, and the reason he’s trekking through the area.

As Laioath walks along the stony path, he feels somewhat lonely without Earnis, his doll companion. Instead he has a handmade one, which he made himself. He continues walking till he spots a large tree. Almost deprived of energy he makes his way to it, seeking shelter from the sun. Upon reaching the tree he places his back against the trunk, and slumps down, rubbing his back along the way. He sits and stares through gaps in the trees branches. He sees the blue sky with streaks of clouds, some formed animals, while others made an interesting shape. Laioath leans forward and removes his backpack, then flops back against the tree. He opens his bag and begins searching for his water skin. Shifting items around his bag, he spots what he was looking for, and places the bag next to him. He removes the seal and begins drinking, the water was slightly warm from the heat, but he didn’t mind.

Laioath relaxes a bit under the shade of the tree, taking a small break from the search. He closes his eyes, and takes a small nap to regain his energy. Everything seems okay, then suddenly… Snap… a stick broke. Laioath opens his eyes. He turns his head in every direction, trying to pinpoint where the stick broke. He becomes cautious as he slowly stands up, picking up his bag and placing it on his back. He walks backwards towards a rock wall, keeping his perceptions sharp. He reaches that walk. Laioath uses the rock wall as a way to prevent whatever he’s facing from sneaking behind him. With his back secured, he looks left and right in a sweeping motion. He adopts a defensive stance, and begins to roll up his sleeve, revealing a leather sheath wrapped to his wrist. He was ready to defend against whatever’s out there.

OOCAlthough he's in a defensive stance and is prepared, he doesn't know that the top of the rock-wall is flat. you can choose to surprise him there, or you can be more creative :)

Lost pages in the wild (C'Arya Tomva)

Postby C'Arya Tomva on January 18th, 2013, 5:21 am

C'Arya had a purpose. She had been stalking a traveler for a day or so now, shadowing him like a dog to his owner. She liked being on the hunt, the thrill of the chase was much better than sitting in a boring old town, waiting to die. No, being a tiger was much more enjoyable. She did not know what to make of this one though. He looked like he did not practice any form of combat, but was wiry, like he was hiding strength. C'Arya's back kinked on her fore-leg and she rearranged it to be in a spot less likely to give her away when the time came.

She watched as the man walked along the stony path, stopping under a large tree, throwing his pack to the floor and then slumping against the massive trunk. He rummaged in his pack for a bit, making a fair amount of noise. Using this as a cover, she hunkered down in the brush, and glided toward him gracefully. She moved along, ever closer as he drank from a water skin. SNAP! A twig, an kitten's mistake. She let out a low growl of anger, scolding herself. The man tensed, turning his head to pinpoint the sound. Not finding it exactly, he stood up cautiously, picked up his bag, and walked backward until his back was pressed against a rock wall, no ambushes this time. Time to use a little trickery.

C’Arya loosened her pack, leaving it on the ground behind a tree, not visible to any searching eyes. She then made sure the line of sight between him and where she stood was broken, and when satisfied with the location she Shifted. In a shower of golden sparks, she turned from a tiger into a redheaded woman, looking to be the age of 20. She crawled out from the tree and approached the man, fully nude. She brought fake tears to her deep green eyes, making them sparkle. When she came out of the tree line, and stood 4 meters away from him, she whimpered, a great actress she was, “Help me, traveler. Help me, or I fear I shall not live out the day!” She smiled to herself, a well planted ruse. He would have to be cold hearted indeed to not help this poor girl. She waited for his response in anticipation.

Lost pages in the wild (C'Arya Tomva)

Postby Laioath on January 18th, 2013, 6:56 am

Backed up against the wall he waited for anything. Laioath, with one sleeve rolled to his elbow, slowly unlatches a strap from the leather sheath. The area is completely silent. Not a single sound was made, not even the sound of the wind rushing through the rocky landscape. Laioath begins to wonder if it was a small animal of some sort that was just passing by, he could be overreacting. Nevertheless, he keeps his guard up just in case.

Laioath hasn’t faced a foe using a weapon before, relying on planning and using his dolls as his weapon. However, Laioath completely forgot that factor of random encounters he might face during his travel. Therefore, he doesn’t have any premade dolls to use. The only form of weaponry he has is the knife that is strapped to his wrist, but he mainly uses it as a tool then a weapon. The second form of defence he has is against uses of magic. Ink, brushes, and a distraction for time, can form a seal that can absorb magic, and unleashing it upon the caster. Despite his tactics, he’s ill prepared and only harbours a knife, and one doll holding hold a reimancy fire spell.

Waiting patiently, Laioath scans his surroundings. Suddenly a rustling noise is made. Laioath draws his knife from his wrist. He holds it at an angle in front of him, as if he is preparing to slash. He pulls a fierce face as a way to demoralize whatever came his way. Again more rustling, this time he spots where it came from. He turns his body towards the noise. Laioath tenses his body, ready to strike should the beast come near. The rustling continues, getting louder as time pasts. Suddenly something came out.

Laioath watches the creature walk out. It hand fiery red hair, white skins that has slightly been kissed by the sun. It was a woman. She approaches Laioath with tears streaming from her eyes. The tears glisten in the sun, and her skin glows. Laioath became confused, but didn’t lower his guard. As he stares at the woman, he became aware that she was completely nude. Being only 18 and had no social contact in the past, apart from his sister, the sight overwhelmed him. The blood rushes to his head, and begins to shake nervously. He tries to focus on her without crossing the borders of being indecent.

The woman begins to speak to Laioath. She pleads to Laioath for survival, fearing her demise will come soon. Laioath tries to settle his nerves, and thinks. She could be bluffing. she could be the lure of an ambush. Or maybe she is in need of help. I might have some food and water to spare, He thought to himself. He lowers his guard and places his knife on his wrist, still wary of the stranger. He opens his bag and pulls out a bit of food, and presents it to the woman, keeping his eyes from the neck up. In his other hand thought he holds his doll behind him, placing his thumb on the centre of the doll’s torso. Under his thumb is the glyph he draw containing reimacy that was absorbed from a mage practicing he spellcasting. The glyph Laioath drew was made so that if the centre was smudge, it would activate the glyph and starts a five second count down. He was prepared to activate the doll and throw it at the woman if necessary.

“H-Here” Laioath said, trying to ignore his peripheral vision.
“I can only spare this much. If it isn’t enough, I’m sorry. I need to survive as well”
Laioath slightly bops the food up and down, as a gesture for the woman to take it. He still nervous about a nude woman standing in front of him, the redness on his face was a clear indicator of it. Laioath waits for the woman to make the next move, with hands on both food, and doll.

OOCWow, didn't expect you to go nude. truly was a surprise.

Lost pages in the wild (C'Arya Tomva)

Postby C'Arya Tomva on January 18th, 2013, 4:00 pm

After C'Arya whispered the cry for help, the man turned beat red out of embarrassment. Why do the men always do this? Being Kelvic, she did not mind the sight of naked bodies, as every animal is naked. Flustered, he brought his metal pain twig down, and started rummaging through his pack, keeping one hand behind his back. He finally produced some food, and offered it to her, hands shaking, trying to keep his eyes from below her neck. She took the food and nodded in thanks, and took a big bite, and chewed with sharp teeth, sharper than normal humans. “H-Here” The man said, looking away.
“I can only spare this much. If it isn’t enough, I’m sorry. I need to survive as well”

Blegh! The food was disgusting, it was hard to switch from meat to bread in an instant, but she did her best to force it down. She stepped forward towards him, bending her knees slightly, smiling as she did so, as if to walk up and thank him. When she was no more than a few feet from him, he seemed to become even more distracted with the trees the nearer she got, white hot molten gold flashed everywhere as she Shifted in mid air, leaping right at him. She was attempting to pin him to the ground. And a 600 pound tiger landing on your shoulders is sure to cause something to break. The man had mere milliseconds to react.
OocSorry for the short post. Do you want me to eventually not try and kill you?

Lost pages in the wild (C'Arya Tomva)

Postby Laioath on January 20th, 2013, 2:00 am

The woman took the portion of food that Laioath spared. He watches as she being to chew on the morsel, it look as if she enjoyed it. However, when she ate the bread, Laioath could see she was struggling to down it. When she finished, he head turns up to look at Laioath with a smile. She begins to advance toward him, still holding her smile upon her face. Laioath begins to watch the tree, avoiding eye contact with the woman. The woman her advance suddenly stops, and she begins to crouch as if she was preparing to leap. Laioath’s eyes shifts to the woman, and in almost a split second, she lunges into the air, transforming into a tiger.

Laioath’s eyes widens, revealing the whites on his eyes. Laioath couldn’t believe what he just saw. A woman, turning in to a tiger! As the tiger pounces, Laioath begins to flinch, crouching down covering his head. He spent most of his childhood under constant assaults from ruffians, so flinching at times became second nature. It saved him from taking too much damage in the past, and it certainly helps him now. The tiger leaps over Laioath, hitting him with its hind legs. Laioath falls back, landing on his rear. It seems the tiger forgot that Laioath stood in front of a wall, as it collides with it. Laioath was slightly dazed, along with the tiger.

As Laioath regains his senses, something warm resonates under his hand. He looks over his should to see what was causing this strange occurrence. “Shoot…” escapes his lips, as he looks in horror at what laid under his hand. Under his hand was a glowing circle, the colour that it resonates is vibrant red. When Laioath fell back, he smudged the centre of the glyph. The doll is now activated. Two seconds have past, Laioath gets up, everything around him feels like in was slowing down. 3 seconds past, Laioath begins to run away from the glowing doll. Fear was clearly shown on his face. 4 seconds have past, he achieves to get a bit of distance from the doll, but he wasn’t sure if it as safe. The doll begins to glow brightly, almost like the sun. 5 second, BOOM!

Laioath was pushed forwards from the blast. He falls and tumbles a bit, only suffering minor scratches. The blast was intense, the magic sealed in it was possibly a strong one. Laioath pulls himself together and begins to stand. He looks up to find what has happen to the beast.

Lost pages in the wild (C'Arya Tomva)

Postby C'Arya Tomva on January 20th, 2013, 4:59 am

C’Arya’s mid-air leap transformation was a practiced move of her’s. The shower of sparks alone was distracting enough, but then when a nude girl transforms into a tiger before you eyes, that is usually enough to stun a person for enough time for her to sink her claws into their flesh and snap their neck with a quick shake of her head. Unfortunately for her, this was not one of those times. The man quickly ducked, cowering, as she leaped. When he moved she became suddenly aware of the stone wall behind him, which she was now hurtling towards. Smart human. Or just lucky. Still, if she had to get hurt, she would hurt him too. Right as she passed over him, she extended her hind legs, hitting him with two paws as big as his face hit him on the back, claw digging into skin and tearing muscles. The muscle wounds were such that they would hurt like hell, but would heal quickly, in a matter of days.

Then came her turn for pain. C’Arya’s thick skull slammed into the rock wall with a crack, stunning her. She let out a loud, earth shaking roar, sending birds scattering for miles around. Blood dripped down into her eyes, which she quickly lapped up with a long tongue, the taste of rust filled her mouth. She quickly looked for the man, who was running away from a glowing doll, that lay not 5 feet from her, like his life depended on it. And if his did, her’s did too. She lept up clumsily, still dazed, and bolted away, following the man. She wasn't fast enough, though traveling at twice the speed of the man. There was a loud, thundering BOOM that shattered the wall, cracking the stone. Following that, a ball of fire rushed out of the doll like the sun was contained inside, lighting fire to the trees and the thick brush. She did not escape unscathed. The fire chased her and burnt her from her hind legs to upper torso, singing of the fur and burning the skin underneath.

The yelp of pain that came from C'Arya turned into a growl of rage. She ducked into the foliage on either side of the path, obscuring the man’s view of her. Her leg hurt, with a new wave of pain coming every step she took. She was beginning to think the man wasn't worth it, but she wouldn't let her calories go to waste. She would finish the hunt, but if death was close, she would surrender, and her pride would be hurt more than the wounds she had suffered. She approached the man, unseen, his eyes still on the rock wall. She didn't want to risk attacking him from the front again, in case he had more dolls of the sun. She just waited until he was a few feet away, and, still unseen, lashed a claw out at his legs. The attack was unavoidable, but the man was lucky, he had slightly adjusted his footing towards the huge cat, making the claw over shoot. Instead, her ankle slammed into his shinbone with a crack, knocking him over. His bone was bruised, it would be hard to walk for a few days. Then she remembered a time when she was only a kitten. A hunter was attacking her with a spear, which sliced her flank, making her bleed profusely. The hunter had then stopped, and spent the next month nursing her back to health. Now, the situation was in reverse, and she had morals. How could she not spare this man? She Shifted back into her human form, some of her hair now singed, and said, bursting into real tears of remorse and pain., “Are you hurt overmuch? I am so sorry, I can’t kill you. Please, forgive me. Now, tell me what you are here for in my forest. I’m sure I can help you in your quest.”

Lost pages in the wild (C'Arya Tomva)

Postby Laioath on January 21st, 2013, 5:16 am

The doll made a successful hit. Laioath could smell the burnt fur in the air, as he looks around for the tiger. It was nowhere to be seen. The smell lingers in the air, as if the creature was close. Laioath hears rustling on his left. He turns his head. The rustling becomes violent. Laioath watches the bush preparing to defend against the tiger. The bush continues to shake until… a bird comes out on top of the bush. It was the tiger. Laioath reliefs himself from his stance, but that was a fatal mistake. The tiger tackles him from the right, knocking him over, injuring his leg.

The injury made Laioath clench his teeth, holding back his crys of pain. The feeling was like a shockwave that pulsated from the injury throughout the body. The tiger looms over him, with the words kill written in its eyes. Laioath searches his bag subtly, trying trying to find another doll, but it was no good. The doll he used was his last one, he cannot escape anymore. He admits his fate. Laioath closes his eyes and bows his head, respecting the battle he had with the tiger. The tiger roars, and Laioath tenses up in preparation for his demise. “I’ll protect you. I’m always by your side. I promise you… promise… ” The voice of his sister resonates within his mind, as he grits his teeth. “You lied…” he says under his painful breath.

A moment has passed, and Laioath is now confused. “Why am I still alive?” he thought to himself. Opening his eyes, and tiling his head up. He sees the same women from before. No clothes, tears streaming down her eyes like before, and now with singed hair. Laioath won’t be fooled again by this land siren. He draws his wrist knife lightning fast, and aims it towards the woman the woman, he looks at her with a fierce look in his eye. The woman begins to once again pleading, but not for survival, but forgiveness. Laioath was still wary, but he could hear the sincerity in her voice. He tries to stand but he could without something to use as a crutch. “can you hand me that stick over there” he says to the woman in pain, as he points to the stick near the bush. She retrieves the stick and hands it to Laioath.

She stands up and leans on the stick, it strong enough to hold his weight. “Before I tell you anything, tell me who and what are you?” He says to the woman with a stern voice, but had a hint of pain within it. He waits for the woman to respond before he tells her anything

Lost pages in the wild (C'Arya Tomva)

Postby C'Arya Tomva on January 21st, 2013, 5:19 pm

Salt tears streamed out of C’Arya’s eyes, tears from pain and remorse from attacking the man, which she usually had no problem with, if they were hunters, but this man was no hunter. The man opened his eyes a crack, lucky to be alive. He tilted his head up, seeing her crying. He quickly drew his knife and pointed it straight at the girl, eyes blazing. “Oh please, forgive me. Don’t go about waving your metal sticks at me. I can help you, and you can help me. You won't last long on that leg. Anyways, what is with the distrustful eyes? If I had any desire to kill you, your throat would be gone and your flesh in my belly.” she said simply, smiling as she wiped away her tears. He then says to the girl with a strained voice, “Can you hand me that stick over there?” C’Arya walked over and picked up the stick and tosses it to the man, who catches it with a hand, and tries to stand up.

He wobbles and stands, stick barey supporting his weight. He reminded her of a horse standing for the first time. Mustering a stern voice he said, “Before I tell you anything, tell me who and what you are.” He did not fully mask the pain in his voice, pain she had caused, a rush of sorrow washed over her. “I am C’Arya Tomva, of the third generation of Kelvics. I have tiger blood in my veins. I am the queen of the forest, hunter of hunters. That was what I thought you were, but now I know that not to be the case. Please, if there is anything I can help you with, I would be glad to do it,” she offered, giving the man a bewitchingly beautiful smile. Her burnes pained her, sending white hot agony through her, she needed to find herbs. She concealed the pain in her smile, and waited for the man to respond, ready to kick the knife out of his hand, should that response be an attack.

Lost pages in the wild (C'Arya Tomva)

Postby Laioath on January 22nd, 2013, 3:58 am

The woman tells Laioath her name, and explains why she attacked him. Laioath felt slightly insulted when she thought he was a hunter. A hunter is one preys on weaker thinks, like ruffian picking on a small child. He grits his teeth again, but not only from his pain at the present, but the past as well. He begins to wobble a bit, trying to keep himself steady. He places the knife back in its leathery sheath on his wrist, before hobbling towards a rock wall to lean against.

Each step was pure agony, but he managers to reach the wall. He looks up and sees that he’s not the only one in pain. C’Arya’s burns are quite severe. Laioath looks at the remains of the doll. It was all over the place, bits and pieces of charred wood were scattered around the area. Is she okay? He thought. The pain was clearly shown on her face.

Trying to ignore her pain, he introduces and explains to her what he’s doing in the area. “I’m Laioath Tongara. I’m here to search for a grimoire or a book” he said to her. Her expression looks as if she had absolutely no idea what a book was. Laioath gave a sigh, pulling out a blank parchment. “I’m looking for things that look like this” he explains. “Have you seen any?” he asks.

As he waited he searches around in his back for a quill and ink. After rummaging for a moment he finds them, and begins to sink to the floor, back against the wall. Dipping his quill in the ink, he asks one more question, before placing quill to parchment. “You’re a Kelvic, are you not?”

Lost pages in the wild (C'Arya Tomva)

Postby C'Arya Tomva on January 22nd, 2013, 7:38 pm

After C’Arya introduced herself and stated her reasoning for the attack. The man looked insulted at the thought that he was a hunter, he sheathed his knife, avoiding her eyes as she winced in pain. The man walked back to the wall, limping and gasping as he went. He gazed around at the wreckage, seeing his sun-doll scattered around the clearing. She tried to think about other things, and not the man’s injuries. The smell of flowers in the spring were a good distraction, but it wasn’t enough this time. She sighed in sympathy for the man, who she followed into the clearing, seeing the wreckage for herself. The forest fire was dying out, as it was damp. But charred trees remained.

The man introduced himself. “I’m Laioath Tongara. I’m here to search for a grimoire or a book” Laioath said to her. She did not read much, so she wasn’t sure what a book was. Laioath gave her a sigh, pulling out a blank parchment. “I’m looking for things that look like this” he explains. “Have you seen any?” he asks. He reaches back in his bag, searching for something to write with. He pulls out a feather and a bottle of black liquid. He dipped the feather in the liquid, being careful not to spill any. Laioath then asks the girl, “You are a Kelvic, are you not?”

C’Arya’s reply came swiftly, “I am at that. I can Shift into a tiger, feeling no pain, as morphers do, the evil souls.” Responding to the earlier question, she said inquiringly, “If you mean the tree-flesh stacks, I have seen one, dirtied at the bottom of a ravine, three days from her, as the crow flies. It is a bad thing, and I do not like it, but I will lead you to if it pleases you.” She stared off into the distance, remembering the “book”. It had seemed to buzz with a feeling she couldn’t quite place her finger on. She had ran from the ravine, heading deep into the jungle. She looked back at the man now, and said, “Come and follow, if you wish, I will head to the ravine. If it is your “Book”, take it from the forest and never bring it back. These burns do hurt, though, and will need treatment. Same with your leg.” She walked past him, hoping he would follow, into the forest.
