Raena Lindariel Appearance Race: Human, Vantha Gender: Female Age: 15 years of age Birthday: 47th day of Winter 497 AV Birthplace: Outskirts of Zeltiva Appearance: Raena stands about 5"7 and weighs 140lbs. She has dark eyes which are usually between bright amber and shades of vivid green in colour but often change given her being half Vantha. Although partially of Vantha descent her skin is quite pale. She also has wavy hair that's a warm shade of red (unlike the darker shades a typical pure Vantha would have) which falls below her shoulders. She considers herself to be a fairly pretty girl though does not fret over her appearance too much. Raena is percieved as quite beautiful and feminine. She is a young girl but carries herself confidently and without shame of her appearance. Many mistake her for being older than she is, she does not mind this however, as she is rather proud and likes being thought of as mature. Character Concept Raena likes to entertain loved ones. Either through song or with her personality. Attributes noticed about her are glamour, beauty and her patience. She has a sweet and gentle spirit. Is a lover of life and nature and does not mind sharing her Ideas. She thinks before she answers and challenges are her joy in life. She is charismatic and polite. Usually kind to strangers, though she has a manipulative streak. She is persuasive and likes to get her own way. Liked by many, and is approachable, though if she makes an enemy she is cold to them and noticably short in temper. She can at times be sarcastic and loves intelligent conversation with an edge of a challenge. Raena is not known for being very dependant on those surrounding her. She gets along with many people and many would consider her sisterly, but were she to leave them behind she would not miss them. She simply does not seem to get attatched to many people in that way. Raena is an intelligent and curious girl who likes to explore and learn new things. Quite often she will take interest in the most peculiar things which many people could consider insignificant. She loves to sing and write poetry when she's bored or simply finds herself idle. She is creative. She likes getting to know people. Each night she writes an account of the moments which were most prominant in the day in her Journal. Her goal is to learn. To learn as much as she can about the world surrounding her and capture it as best she can in her Journal. In general, Raena is a warm and friendly girl. Character History Raena had a good childhood. She loved her mother and father endlessly. Her mother was a human, and her father a Vantha. Her father was a very skilled carver in his youth, and lived up in the cold of Avanthal. Raena's parents met when her Mother, a travelling healer and phsychologist, went on a trip to the mountains. She had been fascinated with the crafts of the Vantha and so made the long and treachorous journey to see for herself what it was like there. When the couple met they fell in love, and Lived for a few years in one of the Vantha's Arvinta. They resided in the hold of Snowsong. Raena's mother grew accustomed to the cold and soon lived a normal life with them, starting up a small business as a healer to the locals. After a while Raena's parents decided to leave Avanthal, most families lived out their lives there, but with being a human, she had always wanted to see more of the world. They travelled accross Mizahar with their horse (Frostmarch) named Snowsong, and made their way to Sylira. Raena's father built them a small cottage in the mountains just outside Zeltiva and soon after Raena was born. Giving her her mother's surname. Her mother did not get to see much of the lands surrounding where they lived after she met Raena's father, but did not speak of this as a bad thing. Growing up Raena was taught to play music and to sing by her father who was very talented in such things. Raena learnt to ride a horse (Snowsong) between the ages of 6 and 7, it was a large horse for her age, but it seemed to come naturally enough to her. Raena was taught to read and to write, she was a clever girl and loved learning new things. Raena also loved to read books. Her mother taught her the names of different plants that could be found in the wild and told her whick ones were dangerous and which could be used for healing. Being very learned it was planned that when Raena was of age that she would attend the University of Zeltiva. Her home was always filled with light and music and she has many fond memories of her childhood. When Raena was 10 years old her father died. His death devistated the family and she and her mother grew closer through grief. Her mother became very upset and would rarely listen to music and Raena only really heard her sing quiet songs of sadness. Her mother shared with Raena how she had once wanted to see all of Mizahar, and that she had never accomplished that in her youth. She was not upset over this, as she had loved her husband endlessly and could not have been more proud of her daughter, but Raena could sense a feeling of slight regret. Raena's mother gave her a leather-bound journal upon her 11th birthday, and since she has cherished it. Shortly after this her mother lost her mind and she had to be taken to be cared for somewhere in the mountains. Raena matured quickly following this, and decided she would start her life. Leaving her mother and wandering aimlessly she made her way to Matthew's Bay outside of Zaltiva, where she spent a couple of years on one or two voyages, she did not learn very much of a seafaring life. It did not really appeal to her, though the sailors liked her company and brought her along for her singing as entertainment and for her skills as a healer her mother had taught her. She liked travelling this way as it was a good way to see different types of people and places and learn about them. Each night she wrote an account of something that had happened in the day. Often she would write poems or songs in her journal and liked to sketch the things she saw. She was loved by many whom she encountered and found it easy to persuade people to let her stay with them, it was evident that she was skilled with speech. The sailors loved to hear her tell stories, and many nights would be spent with her being the main entertainment. When Raena was 14 she had grown used to a life of travelling and decided that that would be her purpose. As her mother had never gotten to see the world of Mizahar, it would be how she spent her life. She wanted to learn and experience all she could in the world and record it all in her journal, then she could return to her mother and show her the journal if she ever regained full mental health. Raena was very popular with the children that she met. At some ports where ships would dock she would be known, and immediatly greeted warmly by the young. They loved her singing and she was quite fond of their enthusiasm towards the stories she told. She often put on small plays for them where she would impersonate someone they knew and they played a game of guessing who. Given the loss of her parents so young she did not really seem to get very emotionally attatched to people, so constantly travelling worked for her. At the present (15 years) Raena has left the seafaring behind her and has decided to reside for some time in Zeltiva. She still updates her journal regularly. Each night she tends to put some form of a diary entry into it. Housing Location: Just outside Zeltiva House: Temporarily has returned to her family's small cottage just outside Zeltiva. Most of the furnature was sold when no-one lived there for a few years. She quite literally returns home here to sleep and spends most of her time outside of her cottage. She keeps it tidy.
