AppearanceRace: Human-Isur mixed blood.
Gender: Male.
Age: 21.
Birthday: 13, Spring, 492
Birthplace: A trading post in the Kalea Region
Appearance:Character ConceptBorn to an Isur warrior who was stationed at a trading post, and a female Human, Gawain was raised to be a chivalrous warrior, pleasing both of his parents. For his mother, a Syliran who'd moved out to Kalea to open up a small shop, Gawain chose to worship Tyveth, the god of chivalry, justice, and honor. For his father, an Isurian tasked with defending a Kalean and Isurian trading post, Gawain trained to be a fighter, practicing with his father's bastard sword and hatchet for a good portion of his younger life.
From his father, Gawain inherited the hot-headed temper that was common to the Coglias clan, as well as a naturally muscular build and a slight greenish tinge to his right arm. From his mother, Gawain retained the normal height of humans, being around six feet and one inch, as well as other more "normal" traits such as brown hair, hazel eyes, and non-silver colored veins.
After his father suffered a crippling injury in a bandit raid and retired, Gawain took up his sword, and decided to set out to find a place or an order where he can serve as a fighter, hopefully protecting those in need. For now, he works as a mercenary, but his mother told him of an order of knights far away, the Syliran Knights, that he's contemplated attempting to join on more than one occasion.
Character HistoryAs a child, Gawain was as rambunctious as many others his age, and often managed to get into trouble with both the local authorities and other children, usually thanks to his quick temper. He was known around the trading post for starting -- and ending -- small brawls quite commonly, and his face was regularly seen sitting in the post's guardhouse, usually receiving a verbal beating from the Captain of the Watch or his father, whoever managed to get to him first.
But when he wasn't in the guardhouse, or at the local temple learning to read and write, Gawain could often be found practicing with his father's weapons behind his house. For a child, he got quite skilled at hatchet-throwing, and though he could barely lift his father's bastard sword, he managed to build a fair bit of strength by just attempting.
As he grew older, his father actually began to drill him in combat, honing his throwing skills, and more importantly teaching Gawain proper sword and shield fighting technique, as well as how to hold a bastard sword correctly both with and without a shield. Although Gawain never would be able to fight for the Coglias Clan, his father knew that he would at least be able to make a fairly comfortable living somewhere as at least a guardsman.
Shortly after Gawain turned 21, a bandit group fell on the trading post where he lived. Though the guard -- Gawain included -- fought valiantly and drove off the bandits, Gawain's father was still horribly injured in the fighting, and was forced to retire. And Gawain, ready to spread his wings, decided that that it was finally the correct time for him to leave the relative safety of his parent's household, and to go out on his own to find his true calling.
He's had a rough few months, and has had to scrape by doing mercenary work in the region, but Gawain's learned a bit of how to survive out on his own. And the familiar wanderlust is striking up again, threatening to pull Gawain away from Lhavit, and out into the wide open world.
