A Night In The Glass

Postby Arja on June 29th, 2013, 4:53 am

- 15th Summer 513 -

Walking into the Pigs Foot, Arja quickly noticed that despite the city's rugged exterior, the interior was quite quaint. She couldn't help but feel almost welcome; like the place was made to feel like you were safe and sound at home.
Thirteen graceful strides to the door led her to the bar. She sat down at the third chair down at the bar, and quickly noticed an obnoxious racket from outside.
"Seems you have a brawl outside." Arja said to the barkeep, nodding to the bottle of spirits beside him. He grabbed a glass, poured some ice in, and topped it off with spirits.
"That's outside." the man said bluntly, handing her the glass. Arja thanked him and sipped. She could here bits and pieces of the brawl outside. "She's MY woman!" one voice shouted.
"That's interesting; a man who loves the interior of his bar more than the exterior." Arja pondered aloud, chasing the ice in her glass with her long, slender finger.
"Inside's where you drink, ain't it?" the bartender replied, turning to wash a few glasses. Arja laughed.
"Touche', sir."

A Night In The Glass

Postby Arthur Graystone on June 30th, 2013, 3:53 pm

Nothing cures boredom quite like robbing people. The only problem was, everyone was a thief in Sunberth. There was never a sucker he could trick or a guy who didn't fight back. So after a while, Arthur just gave up. Unfortunately, he was lost by then. But all he really had at home was his backpack so it wasn't that big a deal. After a while of wandering about, Arthur eventually decided to just stop and ask for directions. That's where the tavern came in.

"Pig's foot," Arthur read. "That's a weird name." Staring up at the sign, Arthur tried to figure out whether it was a room full of pigs or it was owned by a pig's foot. "Maybe it's some kinda mutant pig foot!" Just imagining it got Arthur excited. Running inside, Arthur found, much to his disappointment, that the bar was full of people. Not one pig was in sight.

"Well why do ya' call it the pig's foot if there's no pigs?" Arthur asked in Denvali to no one in particular. "Well if they were pigs I probably wouldn't understand them." Shrugging in indifference, Arthur put his hands over his mouth as he was about to draw everyone's attention. "HEY!" he shouted in common. "ANYBODY KNOW WHERE AQUILLAR HOT SPRINGS IS? KINDA LOST HERE!"

A Night In The Glass

Postby Amora Jade on July 2nd, 2013, 11:50 pm

People have come up with many ways to relax and ease their stress over the years, including things like soaking themselves in a hot spring or even darker things suck as torturing some poor, innocent soul they captured. For Amora, however, a nice spirit to numb her mind always did the trick. Nearly every week she would find herself walking into the same tavern to forget her failures and regrets. On this day she walked there earlier than usual and took a bit more gold for a few extra drinks. She sat in the back of the building at a table by herself and was enjoying her second mug of ale. She loved every sensation the drink would give to her- the exhilarating taste, the warmth as it found its way down her throat, and the numbing affect to her head.

In the past few hours she had heard a couple brawls outside the establishment and had seen a few interesting characters enter and leave after a drink or two. Most of the conversations that occurred between the barkeeper and the customers were a bit humorous, and she would laugh quietly to herself at the stupidity of most of the questions asked.

After being lost in her thoughts for a bit, they were interrupted by an annoying fight right outside the doors and an obnoxiously loud traveler. She scowled in the traveler's direction, then turned her attention back to her mug and took another sip. Once she was done with this one she planned to leave... or have another one, or two. Usually she wouldn't leave until she felt like she wouldn't be able to take another drink without losing her balance as she stood up. Over the past few years she had built quite the alcohol tolerance, so that always took awhile.

A Night In The Glass

Arja took another sip from her glass and set it down on the bar with a gentle thud. She turned to see the man, muttering in a tongue unknown to her. While he stood a at an approximate 5'8", 5'9" tops, she found him rather ridiculous. So much so that she was almost curious. She ordered another glass and took a sip from it, keeping a close eye on the newcomer. Those who seem the strangest always provide the most interesting situations.

A Night In The Glass

Postby Arthur Graystone on July 5th, 2013, 10:36 pm

In response to his question, Arthur got crazy stares and glances, but no actual answer. Obviously they were trying to ignore him and get on with there lives. If they didn't enjoy a fight going on right outside then they'd surely ignore some crazy guy yelling questions. Of course Arthur didn't know this- or even care.

Assuming they didn't hear him, Arthur asked the question even louder. This time he got more glares, but still no answer. So then Arthur did something really stupid. Sucking in all the air he could take, Arthur walked up to one guy and let it all out it one loud "YOU KNOW WHERE THE HOTSPRINGS IS?!" in his ear. When he covered their ears, Arthur assumed he didn't know anything and moved on to ask the same question to someone else. He probably made some of them go deaf in addition to pissing them off, but what did he care.

Eventually Arthur simply decided to give up, though not before silencing a few guys he'd provoked to violence. Putting away the knife, Arthur finally decided it was time for him to make his leave. He returned only moments later because...he was still lost. "Um...where's Aquillar Hotsprings again? Still kinda lost here..."

Her glared was joined by many others from within the tavern, but it didn't seem to phase the nuisance of the ignorance from the traveler. Many people began to study him, perhaps to see what he may do next. One particular person wasn't about to take her eye off him, an Inarta woman who was sitting at the bar. To Amora however, he didn't seem very interesting.. at least not at first. His cocky attitude had him shouting right next to many of the drinkers' heads - a very ignorant idea for this type of place, yet few of them seemed to retaliate. After he decided to leave and return she began to laugh quietly to herself. He really is an idiot.

Though usually Amora held her tongue and barely made any sort of sound in public, it seemed to be loosened by the ale and she saw a grand opportunity to make a few mizas from an ignorant soul. After swallowing the last drop of ale from her mug, she decided to confront him. Slowly and cautiously she strode across the floor, dodging the uneasy steps of tipsy drinkers and stepping over spilled drinks. Once she was only a few feet from him, and standing near the bar where the Inarta girl was sitting, she began to make her proposition, "I'd be happy to show you the way. It's the least I could do for such a... persistent traveler... I only ask for a few coin for my time in return." If he was smart he'd actually take the offer, considering the rarity of kind souls in Sunberth.

A Night In The Glass

Postby Nemanjak on July 6th, 2013, 6:59 pm

Nemanjak was drinking his third cup of ale. After a while in Sunberth you grow a resistance to the thing. He was enjoying every single sip of the drink and got into his messed up mind again. He thought about everything and about nothing. About him dying and surviving. About killing and being killed. But that was interrupted by some crazy newcomer. He screamed and Nemanjak stopped thinking about it all. After a while he left with no response from everyone.

Then, he came back screaming at everyone's ears. At first it was tolerable but eventually Nemanjak stood up and finished his drink. He walked over to the man and saw a woman talking to him. He said to the woman: "Excuse me ma'am. and pushed her away a bit. He grabbed the man by the shirt and yelled at him: "Shut up already! I know where the heck they are! Just shut up and I'll take them to you!"

A Night In The Glass

Arja couldn't help but chuckle. So many people rushing to such a strange guest's aid - granted in a rather rambunctious, callous manner. She continued to stir the ice cubes in her drink, watching the characters of the bar interact. Observation was always something Arja enjoyed; a simple pleasure. While the others were busy trying to calm the traveler, Arja sat back and continued to watch; her olive green eyes following the events as they travel through time. You never know when you need a witness, right?

A Night In The Glass

Postby Arthur Graystone on July 8th, 2013, 5:22 pm

"Actually," Arthur thought, "why do I even need to get back? I mean it's not like there's anything important there. I got everything I need on me and everything else I can just b- no...you're in Sunberth now. Stealing's the way to go!" Nodding in agreement, he was about to just ditch the get home effort when two people finally stepped up for assistance.

The first was a woman who smelled of booze and was probably a little tipsy. She offered to take him to Aquillar in exchange for some of his hard earned Mizas. But she wouldn't be there for too long before the second, a guy who also smelled of booze, stepped up to the plate. After shoving her out of the way, he grabbed Arthur by the collar and started yelling at him for one reason or another.

"Loud one aren't you?" Arthur assumed. "No idea why you're so mad. I mean it's not like you walked into a bar, THAT HAS NO PIG'S BY THE WAY, and find some random guy shouting at you. That's a nice cloak though." With that said, Arthur freed himself from the grip to address both potential guides...or at least he would have if he didn't suddenly keel over. As he lied face down on the floor, an all too familiar feeling crept inside him. If he was in AHS it wouldn't have been a problem, but since he was in a bar far away from his other stuff, he could only cross his fingers and hope for the best.

Without getting up- or even moving for that matter, Arthur explained everything with three simple words. "Got any food?"

Feeling proud of her plan, she was almost excited to get some easy gold off a new comer, until she was rudely pushed out of the way. Becoming increasingly annoyed by the second, Amora was about to leave the tavern until her path was blocked by the newcomer falling to the ground suddenly after freeing himself from the other man's grip. It startled her and she jumped, forcing her back into the bar behind her. Luckily her leather corset had taken away most of the impact and she didn't hurt herself, but she decided she was no longer needed here. It had been an amusing day and she was ready to get back to her small torn-apart apartment in Sunset Quarters. Her mother was probably beginning to worry and she didn't need the nagging. On that thought, she weaved her way around the people in front of her and found her way out the door.
