On The Streets

Postby Amora Jade on July 25th, 2013, 5:47 pm

It made her jump when the man from before ran after her, she hadn't expected him to do so. This night was becoming more and more annoying by the second. All Amora wanted to do was go home to her broken down apartment and sleep in her uncomfortably hard cot.

When he insisted she go with him, she knew things would get sour fast. She didn't enjoy being insisted on doing things, or being dragged somewhere she didn't want to go. This wasn't the first time some stranger had grabbed her hand and tried to lead her somewhere, so she knew it couldn't end well.

"I don't need you're help, I have a home," she insisted and she began to pull away. The lack of brute strength proved to be a major disadvantage in situations as these. Still, she tried with all her strength to pull away, regretting by the second that she had chosen to pickpocket someone that night.

On The Streets

Postby Garin Campbell on July 26th, 2013, 1:40 pm

Garin's smile turns into a mocking smirk as she struggles to pull away. He looked her up and down hungrily, then, after a moment of indecision, draws his dagger from under his shirt and puts it to her throat.

He grins at her with delight, then whispers in her ear. "Now, listen to me, girl. You're going to come with me. And you're going to show me why I shouldn't mess up that pretty little face of yours."

He slides his dagger partially up his sleeve to conceal it, but keeps it in his hand, and goes to resume leading her towards the inn.

On The Streets

Postby Autumn Leithea on July 29th, 2013, 11:19 pm

Aeilia was returning home from the vibrant bustle of Sunberth and a days adventures walking the streets, listening to whispers and musings of rumor, enjoying the city for what it was.

She was tiredly walking toward the outskirts of the city when she noticed an unnatural disturbance in the flow of the crowd, the culprits being a young girl and a man of kelvic stature.

The two stuck out like sore thumb, the man who seemed to be palming a weapon up his sleeve, the girl under duress and in quiet distress in need of somebody to intervene.

Aeilia having a keen and trained eye for spotting concealed weaponry by nature, and by the way he was holding the unseen weapon she knew the man could handle himself with a blade. Aeilia was visibly armed with the handle of a small sheathed blade protruding from her right boot. It was tradition in Sunberth to show that one is visibly armed, as well as to keep concealed weapons on their person at all times, even from eachother. It was just tradition. Despite this unspoken law, most of the city's inhabitants carried only concealed weapons, making the streets a dangerous place in not knowing who was armed or not. Most people who understood how dangerous a place Sunberth was lived in fear, but the to the people of Sunberth it was just another day in the city, knowing that they could die any day on the streets of Sunberth. It was just the natural way of things.

Aeilia and many others enjoyed gambling with their own life going into Sunberth unarmed, as from walking the streets for so long she was no longer afraid. Those who were finally unafraid and accepted knowing they could die at any time walked almost casually about the streets of Sunberth. It was a mark of transcending the fear of the place, though the inhabitants who had truly transcended their fear walked about the city unarmed and alone. Just knowing these people existed and not knowing who they were was one of the scariest parts of life in Sunberth.

Aeilia had a few hidden weapons hidden throughout her person, though she rarely needed to use them in the past. Aeilia hoped that it would not come to violence, but she could defend herself if need be. All she wanted was to help the girl.

She tailed them for a while, and noticed them heading towards an inn. Thats when Aeilia decided to act. She walked up to the two of them jubilantly and stated;
"Excuse me, but do you know where the nearest inn would be?"

Garin whistles a tune as he leads the girl on. First, the Kelvic man gave him some money, and now he had this lovely little thing with him. He didn't see how this day could get better.

As the woman aproaches, he feels a bit uneasy.

Garin smiles charmingly, sizing her up in an instant.

"Oh, it's just up ahead." He tilts his head towards where he was leading the girl. "In fact. Would you care to join us ? We were just heading that way."

He couldn't believe how lucky he might be. A weak girl, and an overly friendly woman? Perhaps this day COULD get even better.

Aeilia kept the weapon up his sleeve in the corner of her eye.

"Sure, I'd love to join you. Whats your name if you don't mind me asking?"

If Aeilia could pick a pocket like Marjorie she would have had that dagger in her hand the second she met them, but she sensed he didn't seem too keen on using it for evil purposes for some reason. As long as he didn't hurt or threaten the girl, she had no reason to bring about unnecessary violence, and she sensed that the kelvic man had something humorous in store.

She turned to the girl, who was quite obviously in distress.
"Are you alright? You look a bit flustered right now. Whats your name?"

On The Streets

Postby Amora Jade on July 30th, 2013, 10:30 pm

Every step towards the inn made her stomach churn, and filled her with more regret of her decision to pickpocket the other man's coin purse. The few coin she received from him seemed to be of less and less value by each moment that passed. If only she had remembered her dagger before she left the apartment, she could possibly protect herself. Sighing, she stopped trying to fight and just decided to do whatever it took to go home without injury.

A glimpse of hope flushed over her when another stranger approached, she seemed to be in good nature. The only thing Amora needed was for this newcomer to have some fighting skill.

After rolling her eyes at her abductor's false friendliness, she looked at the woman to answer her, "Jade."

Purposefully, she ignored the first question. It was obvious she wasn't okay, and she was sure the questioned was already answered without words. Her first name was something people would learn on a more personal level, for now just her family name was all that was needed to be announced. It had been years since the name Jade flooded the mouths of people in Sunberth, they were no longer as high-scale thieves as they used to be and operated on a quieter level.

Garin smiles, again with false friendliness. He still couldn't believe his luck. Hearing her say her name, he begins acting like he knew it all along.

"Well, then, we'll all share a meal! I trust you don't mind, Jade?"

He tightens his grip slightly, but noticably, to Jade, in warning.

"She isn't feeling well enough to make it home, so I thought I'd rent her a room."

Garin glances at her.

"Ah. And, my name is Johnothan. But, John will do."

After giving her the false name, he smiles again. The web of lies he has laid out is very complex, and believable. His dagger stays up his sleeve, ready to be drawn quickly, but not posing any apparent threat to an observer.

On The Streets

Postby Arlo Berakailen on July 31st, 2013, 12:37 am

Arlo didn't want to get involved. That was his first thought. This was not going to help him find his father.

But he knew that girl, Amora Jade. Arlo never forgot a face. Whether friendly or enemy, as soon as he'd seen a face he remembered it. And she'd helped him once before. And Arlo paid his debts.

"Good evening, Mr. John," he called out, pleasantly, with a chipper smile. "I must confess, I've not seen you around here. Nor heard your name. That's rather distressing to me. In my line of work, it's important to stay informed."

Arlo indicated the girl "John" seemed to have a death-grip on.

"I was wondering, however, if you'd do me the favor of lending me your friend there," he continued. "She and I have, shall we call it, unfinished business? I'm sure you can pick up where you left off earlier."

Arlo leaned in, so that he was quite close to "John". "I would also watch your step, my good sir, and avoid overstepping your bounds," came the whispered warning, so low that only "John" could hear it. "The walls here have ears. You never know what they might hear, Mr. Campbell."

With his warning delivered, the information broker stepped back and spread his hands.

"Come now, no need for us to be enemies," he smiled. "If you'd like, we can do business later. There might be coin in it for you. Think about it, won't you? And the name's Trask. Gavor Trask."

Out Of Character NoteI thought that, Arlo being an information broker, it would be reasonable that he'd know who Garin was. I mean, Arlo buys and sells information for a living, knowing Garin's real name shouldn't be a big deal. He probably doesn't really know anything else though, he's just hoping knowing that much would scare Garin into backing off.

The haughty man's presence was all Aeilia needed. As the armed man played attention to the boastful yet jolly one, Aeilia quietly slipped Jade a pair of her finger razors, just barely whispering "You'll know when...", then continued listening to the newcomer as if nothing had happened.

An familiar face had entered the area and made her even more at ease. Their meeting wasn't really friendly, but it was enough to not think of him as an enemy. If he could use his tricky words to get her out of this situation she'd definitely owe him one. When then small weapon was slid into her hand, she quickly slipped the ring on and concealed the small blade between her outstretched fingers. Hopefully she'd be given the proper opportunity to use it to her advantage. She had never used a finger blade before, but had seen them used a few times and was sure she could cause some damage.
