So joined up about two months back and was more excited then I am comfortable letting on. Spent over a week on the character sheet trying to fit in and create my character to he enjoyable and fun to play. Posted an introduction popped into chat and tried to do what was expected before jumping in. That done I posted what was to be my introduction, followed by a flashbacks to get some character history and character development in. Posted in the appropriate grading area to get my post looked at. That was two weeks ago.

To date not one reply nor any responce to the grading thread. I understand there are lots of threads to be looked at. Jumped into the chat and asked about time frames and was advised to try the matchmaker board. Did that and low and behold not a single reply. What had started out an exciting adventure has become a disappointment. I guess it's time to begin looking again.

I'm guessing your main problem was (without looking too indepth at where/when you posted) was that you either picked an area that had zero storyteller support, such as Eyktol. Or you picked a hellishly busy area where there were tons of threads and little to no Storyteller Support to grade them all.

That's the problem with joining a site like Mizahar. You should look less at activity in terms of people to play with and more in terms of storyteller activity and who's not as busy and keeps up plots, grades, etc. Who is busy... and has a hellish back log. If you don't care about stats and grades then its not a problem. But if you want rewards for your efforts, quickly and promptly, then you need to look closely at where you are going to post.

One of the wost places in terms of being busy and not having support currently is Zeltiva. Syliras has tons of support, but its soo incredibly swamped with grade requests that its STs scramble to keep up. Or... you are someplace where there are no graders available.

You can always PM an ST and ask them whats up or request help from outside sources if you are unsure what the proper procedure is.

The thing you must remember is simply this... ALL STAFF HAVE LIVES. As such, you need to remember in hellishly busy places, those staff have to take hours and hours and hours to keep up. Be grateful you have threading partners. Volunteer to help where you can. But most importantly be patient.

I don't usually necro threads, but when I do, it's a reminder to myself that the people here are incredibly busy and are all volunteers. Sticky Gossamer's quote, and you'd cut down on player and staff attrition by 5% to 10%.

Because it's got to be one of the top 10 reasons people leave: dissatisfaction. They see this as a business that should cater to them as customers; they then feel ignored, unappreciated, unwanted, or that they're getting nowhere. They forget it's all volunteers. And I've asked some former staff here why they quit, and some have circled back to this: they felt people didn't get that they were volunteers having to carve out time for this.

Note to anyone glancing at this thread: I looked at his CS, and the player was waiting 2 weeks, not 2 months.

I think Dalaric has a point when saying that a two week wait is a bit much. Volunteers still need to provide service.

... I have graded tons of threads. It takes a lot of time to grade threads. If you choose an over populated area because ytou want Lots of RP opportunity then expect that it will take time to get to. If you choose a spot that has 0 ST support, then also expect it takes time to get to.

2 weeks is nothing. I have posts in moderation waiting for over a month its not that big a deal when it takes time to get them graded. But then again I understand what a trial it can be to grade so that might be where my patience comes from...but I think its because I write to have fun. I don't write to get that extra 3 points in observation.
