CRODUTH

Race: Jamoura
Gender: Male
Age: 160 years.
Birthday: Fall, 353.
Birthplace: Croduth was born in The Spires.

Appearance

Croduth is 7-feet tall, rather short for a male Jamoura, but he towers over many others. Croduth's body appeared lean, though the Jamoura had thin muscles, it was clear that many of these (especially those in his legs) were quite dense and toned. Even Croduth's stomach, though not as taught as other parts of him, was still rather small and tended not to sag as some Jamoura stomachs did. The young beast weighed approximately 280 pounds.

Croduth preferred to be naked, when he could, but when he was outside Caiyha's kingdom - in the walls of men and their ilk - he had the modesty to wear a worn old pair of tan coloured pants that he believed were once the property of a senile alchemist. He is rarely seen walking on all fours, preferring to stand, this lends to the calloused and weathered nature of Croduth's feet in comparison to the flesh of his hands, which felt like soft leather.

Though most of his fur was the deep-ebon black of coal, some strands throughout were a shimmering silver. There was an abundance of silver hair in the mane of unkempt fur around Croduth's face, which was gnarled and twisted, braided by the wind and weathered by the elements.

The mane of mangy fur that clad Croduth's face could never his countenance, the defining features of his face that would trace itself until etched in the memories of those he met. Like the flat, seldom flaring nostrils that sat on the hill of his muzzle, between the lakes of his eyes and his gorge of a mouth. Though Croduth seldom smiled, when he did his thin leathery lips peeled back to reveal the stained and rotting teeth that hung and jutted like keen daggers out of his red gums.

One of Croduth's most defining features were his eyes. Sitting in the valley of his skull, over looking the hill of his muzzle, they were often wide and never hid the amber glow of each iris.
The most unique and peculiar quality of his eyes though was the subtle hidden glow, like a glint behind each pupil. Thousands upon thousands of moments standing completely still in the pools of each those pupils. Like memories, crystallized, hung ever waiting within. Waiting for the instant that their truths these moments could share, all the wisdom of experience behind a simple Jamoura stare.

Character Concept

“Why?”
A much younger Croduth said, his voice as soft as his fur was then.
“Simply, it is our way.”

Alpha Jamoura spoke saturated wisdom with a deep rumble. Almost guttural.
“There will be better ways- There ARE better ways!”
Secrodus would never agree with his fellow Jamoura on the matter of other races. Simply, he saw no reason that any other race should hold more or less respect. In his eyes, all were children of Caiyha.
“Ah-” The elder Joura would say, like great oaks bowing to the wind “Thaycroduth, Thaycroduth, soon” groaning as the great oaks did “Soon you will know patience.” Slowly rolling the words over their throats. “Soon you will know wisdom."

Crodus might never understand the weight of that simple conversation that happened so deep in his past, but those few words captured the concept of that Jamoura completely.

Though he was highly perceptive and inquisitive, the Jamoura was also very naive for any sentient creature his age and lacked a certain degree of world-weariness. He was simply far too curious for his own good, and did not understand his own boundaries and limitations.

Character History

Croduth was born to Magthok, an Alpha in The Spires. Though his father wished for the boy to become a mighty Jamoura warrior, and for the boy to follow in Magthok's plight to remove the scourge that was the human race from all of Mizahar.

This was not Croduth's way.

He was born to bear the burden of love. Within his barreled chest, he held his mother's heart. He would be kind and gentle as she was - though not nearly as apt in the craft of Caiyhesence. Still he admired her skill, and he had his own talents.

From an early age the Jamoura took great interest in being a healer, without prejudice, Croduth had been caring for any and every living thing. His mother, Shuurkoth, saw this in him even as early as his mid 20's.

"Magthok, seen it - you should have." Shuurkoth was a gently spoken Jamoura with a genorous figure.

"What?" Barked back Magthok.

"Croduth, your child-" Her words were softer than a breeze, "Great, his kindness is."

"Great, his strength should be!" Roared Magthok, as he pound upon the quivering walls of their Petal with his mighty fist. "Weak!" He roared "As you are, weak, he is!"

Shuurkoth traced the wall with her eyes. She saw many wooden sculptures that her own hand had created. Once, they had been beautiful artifices of nature, living and breathing pieces of art that brought so much beauty into Croduth's life. Some had been irrevocably torn asunder by Magthok's rage. Others, were carefully bound with little mishappen splints and bandages. Even in his earliest years, Croduth had sought to bond and mend all things around him.

Shuurkoth traced the wall with her eyes. She saw Magthok's bleeding fist, the knuckles still covered in many callouses from the many other times he had expressed his rage. Crimson tears pooled around the fur of Magthok's fist, tracing its way down the wall and onto the floor where it seeped away to the forest below.

Shuurkoth traced the wall with her eyes. She saw Croduth out in the Petal's center; smiling, as he helped an old Jamoura dress the wound on his thumb.

"Great, his kindness is." Shuurkoth whispered to herself, as crimson tears pooled around the fur of Magthok's fist.

When Croduth was 130, his mother disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Since Magthok was absent from The Spire as well, and unable to explain what had happened, Croduth had been advised by an old friend (the same old Jamoura, in fact, whose thumb bore the first wound that Croduth had the privilege of binding) to seek the greater wisdom that walking the world had to offer.

"Croduth." Morthok had said, standing on the tips of his toes and reaching up to put an arm on the young Jamoura's shoulder. "Kind and aflameThough records show that Morthok said 'aflame' to Croduth, it is believed that this was his way of saying 'greatly ambitious'. The Edler Jamoura had never been one to waste words and, at the time, it was very clear to Croduth that he was not on fire-" He looked into the child's amber eyes, "-you are."

Those were the words that Morthok had given Croduth to take with him on his quest for knowledge and kindness across Mizahar. "Croduth, kind and aflame, you are."

With that, the Jamoura set off from The Spires and with his eyes on the south, he rode.

HeirloomImage: A simple amulet, depicting two winged serpents that were intricately entwined as they both created and destroyed each-other in a perpetual cycle of symbiotic consumption. Beneath the cheap, imitative gold and ebon metal plating lay ligneous material that had been sculpted with Caiyhesence. The wood within writhed and slithered, bringing the amulet to life. Though on the surface, Croduth's heirloom would appear to be of great worth, it was actually worth no more than 50gp. But, the sentimental value of the artifact was extremely high to the Jamoura indeed. Of course, he could not quite remember what the true meaning of this amulet was. Only that his own mother's loving hands had been responsible for its creation.

Housing

Location: Croduth, as of the 1st of Fall, 513AV, found himself wandering the streets of Riverfall - suffering a serious concussion that the Jamoura had received on the 91st of Summer, 513AVAlas, that is a story for another time.

House: Being raised in the open architecture of the The Spire and spending a great deal of time in the open air has limited the amount of time that the wanderer can spend in confined spaces without feeling anxious.

Though, the Jamoura knew he would have to spend some time off the streets of Riverfall. Despite the fact that even slightly confined spaces put Croduth on egde, he would spend his nights and some of those quieter days (should any be so mundane) in The Pearl House
