[The Great Bazaar] Donning the Armor

Donning the Armor
4th of Fall, 513 AV

For the second time that day, Sagitta traversed the market, head whipping from side to side trying to get a glimpse of the glisten of an armor. Who would have known, looking for a single knight in the whole city was so difficult? She seemed to keep missing the knight called Stanton Alber. Again, she pushed through the crowd, hoping to find someone to ask about the man.

Her blonde hair had stuck on her forehead and the light clothing she was wearing did not help much. She was still sweating from running around. Truth be told, she did not know how exactly to find the knight. Ser Erik had told her that she could find the patron either at the market or the Knights' quarters. Neither gave her any result. So, she was back here again.

As she wove through the crowd, Sagitta's mind wondered. She had been slightly surprised when the order approved her joining and maybe slightly apprehensive too. Until now, she was still not entirely sure if this was what she wanted. Arivia, her old self, might even laugh at the notion. Her? Someone who was not above thieving had officially became a squire? That was insane. Yet, she was not Arivia - not exactly. She was Sagitta and she was different. Even if the only reason she was joining was to find more information.

When she saw a knight, Sagitta rushed to him, asking if he knew Ser Stanton and his whereabouts. The knight kindly smiled to her and pointed to a stall some distance away, saying that was where he had last seen his fellow. The girl waved a thank you and darted into the pointed direction.

There. She saw him.

Sure enough, a seemingly young knight with dark hair was chatting with a peddler who seemed to be offering him a flute. His back was facing her so she was not sure entirely sure what he looked like. Gathering her courage, Sagitta closed their distance and cleared her throat, hoping that her voice would not be washed away by the commotion around, "Ser Stanton Alber?"

He said a couple of words to the peddler and turned to face the Ethaefal. "Yes. Can I help you with something?"

Sagitta was not entirely sure what to expect from a knight that was to be her patron. She had imagined him to be someone that might resemble Ser Wade, some middle-aged and experienced. It just made more sense. Well, apparently, she was utterly mistaken. A man who seemed to be in his early-to-mid-twenties stood in front of her with a small smile, probably wodnering what was a blonde girl doing asking him around. Rugged-looking and slender.

She was not quite sure how to respond. Thankfully, he seemed to know what was going on. "You must be the squire Ser Erik told me about. Sagitta . . . am I right?"

"Yes, that would be me. I'm sorry I haven't come around earlier, but I just haven't know my way around the city very much."

The girl in front of him did not look like much, slender and slight in figure. Her eyes keep scanning around the crowd like she expected trouble and the way she kept shifting told him that she was not one to stand still. If Stanton was to encounter her in a street somewhere, he would've never given her much of a thought. It was real curious that she would want to join the Order. What did Ser Erik mentioned to him again? That the girl was an Ethaefal? Well, that should be interesting indeed.

Honestly, he was not sure where to start with this newly acquired squire of his. Stanton had not been in the Order very long - unlike some other squire-less knights - yet this girl was assigned to him. "Then we'll have to change that soon." He turned to look at Sagitta, motioning her to walk him. It will do them no good to stand in the way of the crowd. "But I do have to ask, what made you want to be a squire? I mean no offense, but you do not seem the type."

Sagitta had the stop her urge to smirk. The knight got that right. Even though her memories had only came in flashes, there were enough for her to piece some things together. She was certainly no do-gooder in her life. She stole, she sneak around, she broke in to houses. Not that she could tell him that. As the Ethaefal carefully crafted another answer, a scream broke out. The crowd froze, its attention drawn to a woman behind her stall, yelling and pointing. Her shop was littered with various items - foreign - but no one was paying any attention to her odd little trinkets.

"Thief! Thief!"

True enough, a small figure, a kid, was running away, shoving and slipping through the shuffling bodies. He did not even a look back, focusing only on getting away. People cursed as the little criminal escaped further and further. Already, she noticed some knights leaving their posts trying to quell the crowd and the merchant woman.

Beside her, Stanton smiled slightly. "Well, well, you're lucky. Not all squires get to see some action on their first day of the job." He hurried to catch up with the boy. At the sight of his armor, the people parted quickly, seemingly familiar to the routine. It took Sagitta a second to follow him, having no interest in getting left behind.
