Akalak Genetics

Just a random question I had when contemplating Favchean's father. Akalak children are all 100% Akalak Sons with anything but Konti. With Konti it is 50% chance of being Konti or Akalak (with extremely rare Akontak but not going to go there for now)

With human genetics a man + woman share equal genetic code to the child and it comes down to dominant and recessive genes and the likelihoods of the child having one hair color over the other.

However with Akalak siring Akalak children 100% of the time, these are not half breed. There are no half-Akalak Half-human running around..so that tells me that the Akalak men provide 100% of the genetic DNA to the child. Just as Konti provide 100% Genetic DNA to their children, if the Konti is mated with an Akalak then a boy will have the 100% genetic DNA of the Akalak and the girl would be from the Konti (again not going to throw the Akontak in the mix)

So does this mean that Akalaks are carbon copies of their father's genetic material? Would they be identical, or would they have different coloring some how. I guess if a Konti is the daughter of a Konti/Akalak mix she might have recessive genes from her Akalak Father that might show up in an Akalak Son?

I wonder if this makes any sense or if it is more of a ramblingof my mind.

Akalak Genetics

Since I developed the Akalak and Konti races I can tell you your logic is flawed. You are taking into account phenotypical expression and translating that to genotype. That's incorrect. The Akalak and female donor each contribute genetics to the offspring. Its the sex determining chromosome that's dominate and thus phenotypically expressed giving them the outward racial type.

Akalaks can look like their mothers... have traits of their mothers etc. They just can't be the race of their mothers unless their mothers are Konti and they are konti.

Akalak Genetics

The Akontak expression, since your familiar with genetics, is a double double recessive carried on both the Akalak and Konti code. So that tells you that a Konti that has an Akontak offspring has the both the recessive genes but they are masked in her phenotypic expression due to her dom konti gene on that allele. But she can pass it. An Akalak with Akontak sibs and offspring is in the same situation most likely. This would be one of those double four gene punet square calculations with lots and lots of combos and the Akontak result being on the last square bottom right.

Hair color eye color ability to whistle and wrinkle your nose or curl your tongue all works the same. They just have an extra "express this race" gene with lots of driving factor alleles.

Akalak Genetics

Then that means I will be just having all sorts of Akontak children running around because isn't that what happens in RP? The most rare thing possible happens the most common?

Ok joking aside, thanks for taking the time to discuss. I was working on the pundit squares and I think I just got hung up on the features that were predominantly Akalak or Konti without thinking it through farther. Stopped on the fact that the child was never mixed breed, so thus was blocked in some fashion from getting genetic matter from a breed not Akalak/Konti without even thinking of all the little markers that we carry without even knowing it. But it stands to reason that they would carry these traits in their markers and allows for more interesting character building.
