Not hearing him approach, the teen jerked a little when he spoke from behind her, Vira twisting to the left to see him. Though he was still dressed, the implication of his words fell slowly on her and for a moment, the girl just stared at him with arms crossed still on the edge of the pool. And then it donned on her. The joke!

"Oh, oooh, right!" She turned away, pressing her mouth to stifle a laugh at hers and his expense. "No need to be shy around me, Kovac. It's not like I haven't seen it before." She paused to think on what she'd just said, cheek laying on her forearm and watching the waves in the distance hauntedly for a moment. "Well...sort of." Another long pause. "Okay, not really." Yea, that's more appropriate. The water from the falls had obscured him so actually seeing that? Yea, no. Clearing her throat of the awkwardness of her own words, she chanced a peek back towards him over her shoulder, trying not to be too obvious.

Why was he being shy around her now? She remembered the day on the Ranges. He hadn't been shy then as he worked with her to steady her aim and focus her mind on just shooting straight. Nor had he been shy when they danced at the Inclement, but then he'd been trying to help her cope, to loosen up after the devastation of the 53rd. Vira had every right to feel shy and awkward, she didn't exactly 'get around' as the saying went. Petch, she worked too much to afford that kind of frolicking! Still, she couldn't help feel a tiny little warmth in her belly, a little flutter of excitement in being around him. She had not had that with him.

But flirting was like dipping your finger in the honey pot. You get a taste of something sweet without spoiling your appetite. She was afraid to push the boundary yet. If she took the hive, she might get stung...And Kovac had been too nice so far, too helpful to let it be squandered by desire. Still...she could dip her finger in the honey pot for now. That was surely harmless...right? It was a little more obvious now that she was watching him through the corner of her eye, one part curiosity, one part desire.

Had it been another, Kovac would have shamelessly undressed in front of them, even flirting as he did. But Lavira was different. Not that he did not desire her, he had admitted and accepted that he was attracted to the Chiet. But there was an innocence about her, and the knowledge that the young woman had been been crushed by a man she had fallen for. Still, Lavira had started to become playful, joking. With her, he would take it a step at a time.

Kovac chuckled to himself as the woman's profession disintegrated to a confession. She had not seen a man? Well, everyone needed their first peek. The Avora began to peel off his bryda, his eyes cast down but stealing covert glances at Lavira. He did not turn away from her, instead facing the vast bay. Kovac suspected she was sneaking a glimpse, and he felt a warmth flush his cheeks, not of embarrassment, but of excitement that his friend would be so interested as to risk a secret view. Casting his garment aside, Kovac stepped carefully over the rocks and into the cool water, moving in until he was submerged up to his waist.

"Alright, it's safe to turn around." He announced with a smile. "Are you sure you didn't see anything?" Kovac teased as he stepped closer to the woman, the water rippling around him. The Avora ducked under, surfacing quickly and rubbing his hands over his face and chest to loosen the silt and grime in the cascade that ran down his torso. He may have appeared cool on the outside, but Kovac felt a strong flutter in his stomach, as keen as any school boy who found himself close to the girl he favored, especially when that girl was scantily clad. Patience,he admonished himself. With a few more splashed of water, Kovac removed the remainder of the dirt, or at least what he could see. "Did I get it all?" He inquired of his companion with a wry grin.

It was a strange dance they did, one self-conscious that the young woman he'd witnessed the sad side of wanted to see, the other unsure and afraid to push him away, or be pushed away in return. The finger dipping in the honey and licking the liquid gold from the tip was being watched by the guard. But the guard bee did not sting and everytime she saw him looking back at her, Vira turned away, hiding her grin agianst her forearm only to sneak a look back at him again.

Her first glimpse made the falconer turn absolutely scarlet as she held the stare for too long and had to flounder to look the other way. Admirably endowed, what had she to compare to that?

He must get all the ladies with just a look. You know how charming he is already. How many has he bedded? I bet it was exciting...Nonsense, stop thinking about that, you're here for the hatchlings, not for a dally, remember? Besides, he doesn't see you that way.

The water splashing against her back as he settled in indicated he was in and Vira turned back to face him, sinking further in the water to hide her crimson cheeks and turning head so she could watch him without the shadow of her nose intruding on monocular sight. When he asked if she'd seen anything, the teen cursed herself that she must answer and rose some out of the tide pool to reply. "Yup! Er, I mean nope, I mean...You're very handsome, ah!" She spun away, covering her face with her hands ashamedly.

This is ridiculous, Vira. You're being ridiculous. Stop acting like a child. Look, see? He's just bathing. It's just a bath. Stop being a baby.

She let out a sour breath through clenched teeth and finally turned back around only to see that he was soaked down and cleaned up, except for the crab on his head, one of the little ones too light to even notice most of the time. The sight made her grin and forget about her goofiness and misbehaving tongue. "Almost." She said, wading to him and stepping carefully over the urchin. Pushing onto her tip-toes, Vira swept the crab off with a wave of her hand. As it lowered, she let it stop on his shoulder, her mind clearing slowly as the muddying from before finally settled. The hand crept back up to cup his jaw and cheek.

He had not resisted her the first time, just because they were less clad than then should not mean he would deny it now...It was that simple thought that led the Chiet to push up on her tiptoes again, her hand sliding behind his neck to pull his head closer and place a kiss upon his lips. Where their first was brief, this was longer, one of interest for him that broke only when a gull gave a cry nearby, leaving the younger woman staring up at him and chewing the inside of her cheek in uncertainty.

Lavira's sudden shyness was endearing and Kovac would not give her a reprieve as his emerald eyes stayed fixed upon her blushing face. The roguish Avora found his bit of exhibitionism exciting, even more so knowing Vira had peeked at him. Her floundered compliment made his smile beam, and for a moment, as she turned away, Kovac wondered if he had embarrassed his young friend too much. Still, Lavira's comment made him feel good, and he allowed her a moment as he cleaned himself off.

Rising from the water, Kovac wiped his eyes, seeing that Lavira had turned around, her eyes cast up above his head. It was her turn to find humor in him as she shooed a crab from his scalp. He gave her a goofy smile, the crustacean breaking the awkward moment between them. But the cast of Lavira's eye changed subtly, her smile softening as her small hand touched his face. Her hand reached behind his neck, her willowy arm pulling him down to her, drawing the Avora into a kiss. This kiss was more ardent than the innocent one they had shared before. This one lingered, smooth friction as lips moved against lips, Kovac savoring what he had wanted and had been perhaps too cautious to take. But Lavira was recovering, allowing herself to open up to him, both of them giving in to the more romantic inclinations that had been lingering between them. It was sweet, and exciting, having just this moment with the woman with whom he had come to care for. The cry of a gull broke the silent stolen moment, and the delicious kiss faded to smiles.

Kovac looked down at Lavira. He could see her uncertainty, waiting to see if her boldness once again would pay off. In truth, It already had. Lavira had managed, without conscious effort, to do what the most seductive, alluring women of Wind Reach failed to accomplish. The young falconer had managed to win Kovac not by womanly guile or overt sexuality, but by simply being sweet and vulnerable. Lavira had appealed to a part of Kovac few knew existed. There had been hints of it with the Yasi Rista, and Aose, even Chemar. But none evoked the nurturing sentiment in Kovac like Lavira. That had opened the door for Kovac to see the Chiet for who she was, her strengths and weaknesses, her lack of guile and open honesty. These are what drew Kovac to Lavira, first as a friend, and now as more.

He lifted a hand, trailing droplets of water. Fingers combed through her crimson hair, brushed away from her cheek, baring the scar that ran across the ghosted eye. His thumb ran gently over the scar, his gaze fixed on the dead orb. The marred organ that he once found distracting, had to look away from, was now just part of the girl, something that made her who she was, and therefore beautiful. His other hand reached for the puckered scar at her side, again, brushing fingers lightly along the ridge of scar tissue. Kovac did not draw attention to these physical flaws to embarrass Lavira. To the contrary, he was assuring her that they did not take from her youthful beauty, that he accepted and cared for her as she was.

The Avora's hand cradled the smooth skin of her cheek and leaned in to kiss her again. As his hand rested against her wounded side, His lips parted, tongue brushing against her tender mouth until it gave him passage. The kiss deepened, passionate, exploring as Kovac poured his affection into the oral embrace. The hunter pulled the falconer closer against him. The natural course of his masculinity under such amorous interaction had begun, and Kovac stirred, unwilling to embarrass Lavira further by springing that upon her. Breaking the kiss, Kovac smiled and laughed lightly, hands dropping to take hers.. Maybe we should get back to making lunch before something runs off with our kill." The Avora spoke softly, gesturing for her to exit the water first, hoping to remain in the water long enough to conceal his...excitement.

When the hand cupped the right side of her face and related scar, Vira's eyes closed and her brow furrowed, head turning into the head to rub against it a moment, aware of what he saw and her sensitivity about it. This was further emphasized when his other hand reached across her abdomen to lay it upon the thickest of the still healing flesh and related wound. Why must he draw attention to it now? Why must he look at that of all things, that distraction and source of infinite trouble?

The touch upon her side was enough to make her lean protectively away, the mending tissue still sensitive and often painful. When the Chiet opened her eyes, however, looking askance up at him, it was not disdain or even disapproval of these features she was forced to bare. The gentle look, kind smile, delicate caress. It wasn't lust, neither was it sorrow that she should not be as beautiful of looks as another. No, it was something different, something she hadn't expected and yet had glimpsed briefly that night in her chambers.

Compassion.

Yet, it was so much more than compassion. It was acceptance of who she was. All of her merits and flaws combined. She could see the genuineness in his eyes even as he leaned in for another kiss, pulling her slender body against his. The woman did not hesitate long as his tongue sought admission, her heart fluttering excitedly and her stomach leaping into her chest. Her uncertainty was washed away as the kiss went on, entangling with one another, sharing and giving freely until Vira was forced to rock back on her feet and draw a long, slow breath in.

At some point during the kiss, her hands had slipped around his neck as if to hold him to her and lock in this moment so that nothing and no one could take it from her. It was a moment she felt she deserved, for all its implications. The mongrel had captivated her for his wit and charm, swept her off her feet in a way even Garren couldn't compare. The needs of the body aside, Vira was ensorcelled and glad for his acceptance and likewise compassion.

Since the accident, the teen had refused to hide her affliction, finding no reason to. She was no Dek, mind befuddled and body broken. She was simply marked of flesh, nothing more. And then, Kovac ended it. It took Vira a moment, lips clinging, to accept his withdrawal before finally settling onto the flats of her feet, eyes closing so that she could adhere the moment rapidly into her mind. Her head was slightly bowed, her hands enclosed in his and her toes wiggling in her sandals.

She wanted to kiss him again. She wanted to hold him and hug him and talk to him about all that came and went in her life. Vira wanted him to be her friend, but likewise to be more. But it was not something she was confident could be pushed at the time and so, satisfied herself with this new step that they had taken, a single rise up from friendship to relationship.

And then, Kovac reminded her of the fire and the eel and her eyes opened, catching a winking glimpse of his interest and reason for ending the kiss there. There was no reason they should rush this, no reason to hurry desire and ruin what might be by impatience. With a girlish giggle and sweep of hand through her long hair to keep the wet length in place, she stepped away to place a knee on the edge and pull herself up, speaking as she did so. "I don't know, it might wriggle right back out, slippery little eel that it is." The joke was as obvious as the first one was. But where she'd bumped him in passing then, the Chiet paused half out of the water to share a look and a grin back at him, her waist just above the water line so that the curve of backside and upper thighs were just apparent.

Then, the pause was over and she was out, shaking the water off quickly to pull her bryda back on. Vira was striding purposefully back to the fire and pending meal when she stopped, hurried back to the tide pool where she knelt, her hands reaching for his head (whether he was climbing to get out or not) and holding it steady to steal a third kiss from him. It was not as long as the previous one but certainly no less interesting as she pressed hard against his lips, nipping at them with teeth a moment and then withdrawing to whisper in his ear.

"You're such a tease, Kovac, did you know that? But you are far more real in this which I fight for a grasp in...I want to know you more, when the opportunity is more appropriate."

Another quick kiss was pressed into his cheek before she tossled his hair affectionately and straightened to hurry back to the fighter, peeking once back at him and then turning away.

Kovac felt like a Yasi, an unusual state for the experienced man. Not only did Kovac experience the tightness of physical appeal so familiar when in the close company of an attractive woman, but Lavira elicited that flutter he did not often suffer, the kind that came with youthful infatuation, or more mature sensations of love. It didn't matter that Lavira was not the most voluptuous, prettiest, or most sultry woman in Wind Reach. At that moment, when she brushed against him, rose out of the water enough to reveal the contour of her youthful rear and strong thighs, her cycloptic gaze gleaming, launching yet another bawdy, innuendo-laden eel joke, there was no other woman in Wind Reach Avora Kovac would rather be with.

"Hey...wait...little eel?" He complained in a mock indignant tone, looking down to the water that concealed the hidden subject of the taunt. Kovac then watched the falconer tug on her bryda and head towards the fire. He ducked one more time under the water for a final rinse, then stood again and wiped the water from his eyes. When they opened, the Avora looked up to see Lavira again, leaning down over the edge of the rock. Slender hands took his face between them, hergenerous feminine lips pressed against his mouth for another kiss, brief but laden with significance and no lack of passion. Kovac looked up with near disbelief, his smile cockeyed as she stood and turned to return to the fire. Did she really like him that much? Did he really like her that much? The answers were unexpected but Kovac knew them to be certainly true. Yes to both.

Strong, corded arms pulled the nude hunter from the water, his emerald eyes catching his companion taking a final peek at him before he pulled on his own bryda and headed back to join Lavira at the fire. As they set about to prepare their meal, Kovac reflected on how things had changed in a just a few chimes and revealing kisses. Casual contact became more comfortable, the furtive glances less concealed. The Avora did not expend mental energy in trying to define what was between he and Lavira, Kovac simply enjoyed it, enjoyed the swell of contentment in his chest, and the thoughts that the intimate encounter in the water conjured up in anticipation of similar interactions.
