Hogging?

Postby Matthew on December 27th, 2013, 4:46 pm

I am not so sure if there is a rule for this, or a common understanding, or perhaps just a polite way to go about it. There is obviously a large load on the moderators, as there are always people asking for quests, grades, etc. Is there a point where it is considered rude to ask for a quest? For instance, if I had a Gnosis thread running, and then requested another quest from another mod, perhaps another Gnosis from this mod... that would seem rude and selfish to me. Hogging moderator attention, or trying to.

Is this even a concept? Or does no one have a clue what I am talking about? I just try to use my better judgement, but I wasnt' sure if there was a hard and fast rule, or perhaps an unspoken rule in the RP world.

Hogging?

It may be considered good form to handle a single gnosis thread at a time. They're fairly popular and mods do get rather tied up. Most of them will be upfront enough to tell you if they're busy, of course, but usually if it seems like you're hogging moderator attention...most of those ST's (Who have characters of their own) will notice :P.

I'd say for joining quests and such, all's well...but handle one gnosis at a time...that's how I've always seen it done.

This PC has the Blight gnosis. As such, you as a player need to be aware of what that consists of. Wrenmae has an invisible aura that amplifies sickness and disease. Wounds may become infected, small sneezes may become coughing, and a slight fever may become more serious. A nuit's body will also break down faster in the presence of the Blight. These effects may not be immediate, but within the few days following your encounter, the symptoms will manifest. Some sooner than others. I cannot control your character, so creativity will be left up to you. Best wishes and stay healthy!

I agree with Wrenmae. quests are one thing, which I think no one will mind if you join multiples of those. Especially since quests usually tend to be for more then just one, but gnosis should be done one at a time.

There is indeed such as thing as a "mod-hog." Using your best judgement, you'll never be that guy, so no worries.

Hogging?

Matthew, please feel free to approach me with your concerns and specifics. I have no issue telling the staff to stop giving an individual attention if they are indeed mod hogging... which is something I hate. If I can't even get a single moderated thread for a gnosis thread as a Founder's PC, and someone is getting multiple ones from people in multiple areas or a large amount of quests, then that needs to stop. We had someone like that a while ago who has since been uninvited from the site. Once the mods got together and compared notes, most everyone was just pandering to her because she was horrible at complaining if she wasn't getting her way. Once we all talked it over as a group, it was better to ininvite her than continue pandering. So that player isn't welcome here anymore... which may or may not be a current similar case. But it still needs to be discussed because I'm on a real kick to cut down moderator buddies being catered too as well.

I myself am running a quest for some IC friends of my pc, but you can see that this is the first thread I've ever ran for them (after knowing them years). I'm glad to do so, but it will probably be an isolated incident. But there has been times where buddies of mods, Alvadas was bad for this, got thread after thread and reward after reward without spreading it around to others.

So send me a private message or post a HD ticket. We need to know these things because we can't be everywhere at once.
