Human Genetics

I seem to remember something about a mix of two human types counting as plain human. Can't find that rule anymore though.

But my real question is: Would it be possible to get away with a yellow or gold-ish eye color by claiming some odd ancestry?

Human Genetics

Two human subtypes make a "Human, Mixed" (which is different from a Mixed Blood, a human+nonhuman). But genetically human subtypes are human, so any combination of human subtypes would also be human.

As for the eyes, what sort of ancestry? Dhani maybe? It would proabbly have to be something non-human, and if the genes get diluted enough that other non-human traits fade, I can't imagine the eye-color would last....

You could maybe claim a sort of light-brown or hazel color. And when the light hits it just right...maybe?

But probably what you're going for is not that feasible.

Human Genetics

Postby Elysium on December 30th, 2013, 2:15 pm

Hi there!

That is true. Two humanoids make a regular old human. Only non-humans and humans can produce mixed blood offspring. Which translates to:

Vantha + Inarta = Human
Symenestra + Human = Mixed Blood

And all combinations thereof, within the limits of which races can breed with which and so forth.

You should look into the Vantha. They're the only humanoid sub-group with color changing eyes. But otherwise, I'd steer clear of having anything outside the normal human spectrum when it comes to things like eye color, unless of course you change your character design again.

Cheers!

Seems my reputation as a belligerent, capricious ass is coming along nicely.

So no matter what the mix of human subgroup, the offspring will display ordinary traits?

Traits that are applicable to that subgroup, yes. Inarta, even when mixed will often have red hair. Vantha mixes as a rule, do not have color changing eyes, however they might have lightly highlighted hair. The same applies all across the board, if that helps. :)

Not to correct Elysium but the highlighted hair on vantha half breeds and changing eyes was something we gave part vantha players during the djed storm of 512 if their pcs were active then! Otherwise mixed even half breeds are just humans so special traits.
