The boy repeated her name as if he had said it a thousand times before, something Amora didn't like very much. The thief loved to be the type of person no one really felt comfortable addressing or even approaching. The distance between herself and others that was created by the mystery of just her name alone gave her the feeling of being safe. If no one knew her name, no one could ever mention her or warn others about her; unless they could actually point her out to them.

The instant comfort the Kelvic took to her name was a bit offensive, and he'd definitely have to pay for it. Not only did he speak as if he knew her, but he also accused her of being a loud-mouth! "Did he really just say that?!"

When the boy finally finished talking, the thief finished her ale and slammed the mug against the counter. "First off, don't think of me as one of those kind of people who go around talkin' about everyone else cause I'm not!" Amora lowered her tone a bit after she realized she was yelling before continuing, "Secondly, I'm not really in the mood for fighting... let's just leave."

The girl rose to her feet and grabbed Buras's wrist, dragging him with her through the exit. "So tell me, Buras, what do you like to do for fun?" With an emphasis on his name to be sure she got it right and a manipulative laugh at the end, Amora was sure she had the boy trapped. All she needed to do then was convince him to do her work for her. Having someone else take the risk of being killed over a few coins seemed like a flawless plan.

After Jade's little rant, she grabbed Buras' arm and took off. Buras was just able to grab his hat and stuff it on his head before he was dragged off his stool and out the door.

Quickly regaining his balance, Buras is able to keep up with Jade, but running and swinging only one arm is kind of awkward. When she asked what he did for fun, he had to think on that one a little. He didn't really do things for fun, he just wandered through the streets, and exciting things found him.

So, thinking of nothing better to say, Buras says, "I don't do anything, just walk around the streets." Even Buras thought that was lame, but it was the truth.

Profit for Profit (Buras)

Amora scanned the streets, watching the people who walked them to see which ones would make for the best targets. The last thing she wanted to do was make a fool of herself while she tried to show Buras what she wanted from him.

"I don't do anything, just walk around the streets.” The girl laughed a little to herself.

What kinda person does nothing but walk the streets?” Even she did more than that, a girl with no friends. “Well, as boring as that sounds it’s actually a good thing for what I want..

Amora stopped walking and turned around to face Buras, letting his arm go in the process. “Tell you what, you do this for me and I’ll tell you something else.” The thief smiled and wondered why she didn’t do this more often. Men were so easily manipulated into doing whatever a woman wanted. It was almost sad really, but it was extremely handy.

I’ll show you first, then I’ll give you a target. Stay here, watch.” With that Amora turned to face the people on the street. Once more she scanned for an easy target with a decent reward. Her eyes were caught on a scrawny man who didn’t look to be from the area by the way he was dressed. One could actually hear the coin in his pocket as he walked. It was almost as if he was begging for a thief.

Amora jumped into a small crowd of four that was making its way towards him quickly. Once they were to his right, the thief stuck her hand into his exposed pocket while he was bending over to fix his breeches over his boots. She was able to grab onto a small handful of the treasure, then made her way back to Buras.

See?” The thief held her hand out with only a couple of the coin she had taken from the man to show the Kelvic. “If you get me more frooommm…” Amora looked for another target quickly, “...that lady in the purple skirt over there, I’ll make it worth your while.” She pointed her out then gave him a crooked smile, playing with the coin in her hand, “I might even let you keep a few coin for yourself if you’re good

Buras watched as Jade blended seamlessly with the crowd. By some twist of fate, the man decided to bend over to check his shoes when Jade was passing, giving her, her chance to steal some coin.

Coming back, Jade says "See?" holding out the coins she took. Flustered at the apparent ease at which she took the coin, Buras begins feels like he got something to prove now, and she gave him his chance. Saying “If you get me more frooommm.... That lady in a purple skirt over there, I’ll make it worth your while.” Pointing to his target, Jade goes on to say, "I might even let you keep a few coin for yourself if you are good."

Chuckling, Buras says jokingly, "If I wanted some coin from you, I could probably beat it out of you." Turning from Jade, Buras frowns at his new target. Grudgingly taking off his hat, he hands it to Jade. "Hold this for me. I'll stick out like a sore thumb with that on." and like that, he was off.

Mimicing Jade as best he could, Buras steps into the edge of a crowd heading her way. He thought he saw something on the first pass, but wasn't sure. So he had to leave the first crowd, and into another. Confirming his suspicion, Buras quickly tries to think of a way to get at it. By shear luck, she decided to turn so that he could slip a hand in. But he was walking towards her, and she towards him. This ain't going to go well Buras thought as he quickly slipped his hand in, grabbed what he could, and slipped it back out. It seemed like the lady didn't notice, because she just kept walking.

Buras quickly hurried back to Jade without looking like he was hurrying. "There, I took some coin. Now give me back my hat." the last bit was accompanied by him snatching at his hat. Getting it back, he sets it on his head and makes sure it is on right. Satisfied on how his hat was on, Buras returns his attention to Jade, "Now, Was I good enough for some coin?"

Profit for Profit (Buras)

“If I wanted some coin from you, I could probably beat it out of you.” Amora gritted her teeth, it took everything she had not to pull her dagger from its holster and thrust it into the Kelvic’s belly. The only thing holding her back was the easy opportunity of obtaining free coin.

The thief was going to use the man like a puppet for as long as she could, then possibly give him the honor of becoming an ally with her. It would work well for both of them in the end, really. Amora would get more coin, Buras would gain the knowledge of stealing more coin.

Before he set off on his mission, Buras handed the thief his hat. She wasn’t expecting it, and it came as a surprise to her. If the thing was worth any gold she would have just run off and given it to her mother to sell. Since it was worthless to her, she instead decided to try it on. Amora pulled it onto her hand and laughed as she impersonated an old man she saw sitting on a bench a few buildings down.

Quickly, when the sight of the Kelvic caught her eye, Amora removed the hat and fixed her hair. The thief had completely forgotten to watch him take the coin. “There, I took some coin. Now give me back my hat.” Rudely, he snatched his hat out of her hands, something she didn’t take too kindly. “Now, was I good enough for some coin?”

Amora thrust her palm into Buras’s shoulder and snatched the miza from his hand similar to the way he did with his hat. “First off, you don’t have to be rude!” The thief opened her palm as she pulled it towards her face and fingered through the treasure, “And yeah, here.” Since she hadn’t actually watched him perform, she figured she owed him at least a little of what he took. Amora held out her hand with a couple of the coin he had taken, but pocketed the rest.

Are you ready for another round? I’ll do it first again, since this time I want a little more from you.

When Jade pushed him for the coin, Buras almost lost it. It is one thing to take something back that you gave someone. But taking money from someone that earned it, even if it was stolen, was something else entirely.

But, Buras was able to keep hold of his temper, and after all, he did say he would give her the coin and take what she decided he deserved. He still wanted to push back, but decided to try and keep this as nice as he possibly could. Taking the coin that Jade offered him. He felt like he deserved more, he did all the work after all. But once again, he restrained himself from knocking her down and taking what he felt like he deserved.

“Are you ready for another round? I’ll do it first again, since this time I want a little more from you.”

"I'm as ready as I'll ever be. Now, let me pick a target for you this time." Looking around, Buras searched for as difficult a thing as he could possibly find. There he thought as his eyes alighted on a group of people wondering through. Pointing to the one in the middle, an old man wearing simple brown clothes, "That one, that is your target."

Grinning, Buras thought he picked a sufficiently difficult target. On their own, people were easy enough to steal from, as he quickly learned. But in a group they must surely be harder to steal from. All those eyes, one pair might see what is happening. If anyone caught here, he would bail here out. But he would of course take the chance to point out that she wasn't the best.

This round Amora wanted to show him how to distract a target to get what was wanted and to reduce the risk of getting caught. Instead of just one simple target, she actually wanted the kelvic to take from multiple people in just a few swift movements. It was difficult to pull off, even for a relatively experienced thief such as herself due to her clumsiness, but she hoped he would get the hang of it so she could enjoy the spoils.

Amora thought it was a bit strange that the boy wanted to pick the target for her, but it didn’t really matter. The fact that there were three of them together actually saved her the trouble of finding more targets.

The thief turned to the boy, “Be sure to watch carefully. It’s what I need for you to do next.

The dark haired girl turned on her toes and made her way to the group. The old man in the middle that he wanted her to steal from was an easy target, but the two on either side of him were younger and sure to be more observant.

It took her a moment to think of a good distraction for the group that would aid her in picking the pockets of her targets. The thief took a risk and reached into her pocket to grab a small handful of coin, the small sacrifice would hopefully be nothing compared to the treasure she was soon to obtain.

Amora walked into the middle of the street and began to stumble around in a drunken manner and started to shout slurred words at people walking by, many of them laughed and kept on their way. As her targets approached she threw the coin into the air above her. Each of them hit the ground around her in a beautiful symphony of metallic clangs.

The empty space around the thief was quickly filled with greedy bodies who were drawn to the coin. Many of them were tackling each other and running over the weak to get to them. Amora didn’t drop much, and they weren’t even of the gold variety, but just those few caused the small chaos. It worked as a wonderful distraction. The two younger people who seemed to be escorting the older man had become wrapped up in the mess and left him vulnerable.

The black haired girl dropped to her hands and knees and crawled between the legs of a taller man who was part of the crowd to escape the chaos. As she emerged on the other side and stood up once more, she found her hand to be in that man’s pocket before she even thought to do it. The thief was becoming more and more greedy by the day, her body knew what to do without her command.

Only a couple coin found their way into her hand as she pulled it out and found her target. The old man was being trampled and was completely vulnerable, Amora took the opportunity to quickly sweep over him as if she were part of the group. It was easy for her to swiftly slide her hand into his pocket, but to her surprise there weren’t any coin. Instead, her fingers fondled a small chain that was attached to something round. Amora knew she wouldn’t be able to protrude his other pocket without her scheme unfolding, so she decided to take what she found and move on to the other two.

The closest one to her position was a boy that seemed to be about her age. He was fairly muscular and would definitely be a threat to her if she were caught. The thief needed to move quickly, the coin she had thrown was nearly all claimed and the crowd was depleting. In a frantic manner she ran towards him to try to swiftly slip her hand into his pocket, but to her disappointment he turned to face in the thief’s direction the moment she became near enough. It wouldn’t be worth trying to make a target of him after he had seen her face.

Instead of taking the risk she decided that the treasure she had obtained would suffice and be enough to show the boy what she wanted from him. It would serve as good entertainment for her to watch someone without much pick pocketing experience try to pull off a multi-target operation as she did. Once Amora was back at Buras’s side she did a cocky half-bow, “Thank you, thank you. Please hold your applause.

A small chuckle followed by a conceited grin was used to try to challenge his confidence in his ability to pull it off. “A distraction serves well when you have more than one target. Don’t do the same thing I did ‘cause I doubt it wouldn’ be seen as suspicious.

OOCReally sorry about the long delay, my replies may be pretty spread out for a bit so please bare with me.

To the grader: I was looking for a cheap pendent of some sort from the old man’s pocket. Maybe just one with a painting on it, if deserving.

"A different distraction, right." Buras said, not sure what that different distraction would be. He could hit somebody, but that would just start a fight. He could act drunk, bump into people and steal their coin, but he wasn't a good actor. A last thought came to him. He could morph into a crow, and steal things one at a time, dropping them off with Jade for safe keeping.

That last one sounded like the best one. So, once again Buras grudgingly takes off his hat, and hands it to Jade.

"I may need a little help with the take off." was all Buras said before there was a flash of light, muted by his clothes. And where Buras once stood, was now a crow struggling to get out of a bundle of clothes. When Buras got out, with or without Jade's help, Buras gave her a stare that said, 'Tell anyone about this and you will regret it.' and took off.

It has been a while since Buras last flew. Circling above the rooftops, Buras enjoyed the ease with which he flew. He was a rather large crow, so he was safe from all but the biggest flying predators. After a bit of enjoying stretching his wings, Buras flew down to a more reasonable height. He saw a lot of things, mostly food registered though. And it didn't help that that was all venders wanted to sell, it seemed. But at last, Buras saw his chance, a money bag, laid in a vender's counter. Swooping down, Buras grabs at it with his legs. He was able to grab it, but he had to struggle to get back into the air, while avoiding rocks being thrown at him. Returning to where Jade was, Buras lands, lets go of the coin bag, and flies off in the search for more.

This time he looked for something a bit lighter. After a much longer while flying in larger and larger circles, Buras sees a jewelry vender. Attracted by the thought of all those shiny things, Buras land on the counter, in front of a particularly nice looking arm band. It seemed to be made of silver, but was probably a simpler metal like iron. It also had intricate carvings of feathers on it.

Before he could get a hold of it, a pair of strong arms grabbed him. "This fellow right here would make a nice stew." Buras heard over his own cawing and struggling. Panicking, Buras morphs into his human form, which startled the voice. Grabbing the armband, Buras makes a break for it. But was grabbed by the man once again. Twisting around, Buras saw a little man that resembled a toad. But that was all he saw before punching Toaddy in the face.

He heard as much as felt Toaddy's nose breaking. Toaddy let go reflexively, and that was all Buras needed to make his escape.

What a sight he made, a naked man running down the middle of the street in winter. As he was running, Buras remembered something, he was supposed to make a distraction. 'Well, so much for that. Now where is Jade?'

After finding her and, as calmly as he could, getting his clothes on, Buras shows the armband to Jade. But instead of giving it to her, he pockets it saying, "This I think I deserve. The rest is up to you."

OOCYou can help uncover/help Buras take off by letting him get on your hand and lifting him up, just remember he does have some heft to him. But in the end, it is up to you on whether you help him.

Profit for Profit (Buras)

Postby Amora Jade on June 11th, 2014, 2:56 pm

Amora took the grungy old hat from the Kelvic once more, yet again having the child like urge to try it on and act silly. The thief watched as the man deformed his body. The insane process sent a chill down her spine; she almost wondered if it was painful. It didn’t make any sense at all to her that someone could completely change their appearance in an instant like the Kelvics did.

A small laugh found its way from her belly as she watched the once-man-now-crow creature struggle to escape from the clothes prison. It was amusing. The thief bent her knees to get more to Buras’s level before she swept her hand under the rough feet of the crow to help with takeoff. She underestimated the amount of weight he would have on him in his animal form which caused her to fall onto her bottom as he caught wind under his large wings.

Instead of bothering to get up and closely watch the amature do his deed, she stayed on the ground where she was safer from being bothered with the lingering eyes of nosy people as she played with the amulet she had taken from the old man. There wasn’t much to it, just a large, rounded, flat coin that hung from it’s chain. There was a small picture painted on it that was rather faded and difficult to make out.

Amora squinted her eyes at the article of jewelry and turned it in circles. Her concentration was broken when Buras landed beside her to leave the con behind. A smile spread across her lips as she took it into her hands and examined it.

Not bad..

The amulet found its way back into her pocket along with her new riches as she stood up to watch the boy that time. She saw him in the air, but he had gotten some distance away from her. Pure curiosity of what he was looking at took over her feet as they made their way towards the market stands. Though she still had a bit of distance on them she was able to see what was going on. When a grizzly old man grabbed hold of the crow her heart jumped. She thought for sure she was about to see him murdered because of her.

To her, and well everyone else’s, surprise Buras decided to take on his man form again. Amora covered her eyes and turned around to walk to where his clothes still laid. The thief picked them up and looked for Buras. Once he approached she closed her eyes once more and turned her head.

The girl didn’t particularly care about the treasure he had acquired that time; she was only worried about getting him covered up.

I didn’t really plan on seeing that again today…

The grouchy yelling of a man emerged from the crowd Buras just ran through. Amora rolled her eyes as she realized he didn’t escape freely.

Well, this was fun. See ya!” The thief turned on her heels and ran from the area, disappearing into the crowd.

Buras quickly turned when he heard the voice of the man still coming after him. When he turned back, he saw Jade's back and heard "It was fun!". Ya, he thought so to. Until this guy came after him. Then he had a slightly less fun time.

Taking off in a random direction away from the voice, Buras runs as fast as he ever did. Taking a quick glance behind him, he saw the man still pursuing, but slowly getting farther and farther away. As he ran, he roughly pushed people aside. As they turned to yell at him, they were knocked out of the way by the man. He was determined to catch him, and Buras was determined to get away.

Quickly ducking into an alley, he sprints down the length of it, and into a crowded street. Quickly taking off his hat, Buras walks with the flow of the crowd, trying his best to not draw any attention to himself. He saw the man come out of the alley, look around, shrug his shoulders and go back the way he came. 'Guess he wasn't that determined.'

Now that he wasn't running for his life, he took out the armband to admire it. It certainly wasn't silver, and now that he looked closer, there was green glass embedded in certain places. It certainly looked nice, but not many people would think it real. He must have stolen the showy model, not to sell, but to look pretty. Oh well, he could keep it, a memento of this event.
