Koa could feel the Konti’s heart beat harder and faster beneath her. It thrummed beneath her fingers and her strong hands only furthered her grip on the girl in retaliation. She pressed the dagger closer, her face devoid of any kindness, with only the mask of a killer in her eyes. She would get a reaction from her, and this reaction would determine whether the Konti would fail or pass today’s lesson.
But now, as Satu become limp beneath her Koa could see the Weakness emanate from her. The strain she had been looking for, the soft girl hidden behind the wild Konti that needed to be culled. “No, Konti!” She shrieked, but her dagger lowered, if only the slightest. And why did she scream? She screamed at the Konti, as if she had done wrong! But no, no! It seemed so real, her panic, her pleading, that it even affected Koa, the one who had told her to create Deceptiveness! So when Satu had gathered her wits together, the Myrian woman was unprepared for the attack to her arm. Her dagger had fallen from the sudden twist, and Koa now found herself beneath the Konti.
And then, that was then the warrior broke out into a laugh. She threw back her head and laughed into the air, with small droplets of water washing away the grime that covered her face. Satu had straddled her! Satu had learned well, she listened well! But when Koa turned to place her gaze on the Konti once more, she grinned. “Well done.” This was all she said as brought her knee up to strike at Satu’s back, pulling her attention away so that the Myrian now jerked the deyhan’s shoulder down to press her into the mud once more. But instead of placing her into a chokehold Koa stood, completely caked in mud and a smattering of the other girl’s blood.
“Satu of the Curled Blade, I think that’s enough lessons for one day. You’ve learned well, keep at it, and you can master it.” She held out a hand to help Satu up, then bent to grab the dagger that was now also coated in dirt. “If you ever wish for another lesson, don’t be afraid to ask, there’s always something to learn.”
