Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Postby Amora Jade on October 7th, 2014, 7:46 pm

The young thief didn’t think about the consequences throwing the ax back at their pursuer until Eleazar mentioned it. All she had in mind was the thought of hurting the person who brought blood to her. For the most part Amora was more of a passive person, running from danger when it came rather than facing it, but when someone caused her physical pain the adrenaline from her anger drove her actions rather than her common sense.

From the corner of her eye the sight of the brute that was after them appeared from the side of the building that the pair was facing. He stomped towards them and tried again to jump and reach the edge of the roof to get to them. Amora flinched as he jumped and stepped backwards on the roof, bumping into her accomplice and nearly falling over herself, unable to keep her balance on the slope on which they stood.

The wood beneath her creaked then let out a loud crack. Instinctively the young girl stepped back once more to get off the weak part of the building. It was an unfortunate decision. The next step she took caused the wood to let out an even louder crack than before. The wood popped and separated from itself, forming a large hole beneath her feet before her body found its way through it.

Amora let out a short scream before crashing into the top of a chest made of old cheap wood. It crumbled beneath her weight and the clothes that were kept inside helped to cushion her fall- even if it was just a bit.

The position in which she fell caused her to land directly on her back, knocking the breath from her lungs. The thief gasped and struggled to draw her breath back, but was having difficulty doing it. Sounds of the ceiling cracking more forced her eyes to shift upwards and see the crack growing wider.

Amora tried to call out to Eleazar and tell him to jump off the roof, but her breath hadn’t yet returned to her and she couldn’t get out more than a whisper. She hoped that he had seen her fall and that his attention wasn’t completely focused on the mercenary so that would know to get out of there like he wanted.

Amora could see the man through the window of the building. Her heart raced as she struggled to get to her feet and breathe again. The loss of her breath drained her and made it difficult for the thief to find her balance.

Goddess no…

Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Postby Eleazar Victor Syroin on November 22nd, 2014, 2:46 am

Seems that whilst they had been scrabbling about on the roof the guard had taken the initiative and run out the alley and around to the front of the build upon whom's roof they were struggling with an axe. Eleazar hadn't quite realized this till the brute made a wide jump at the pair, just barely missing the edge. Surprised at the sound, the teen's attention was lost as his partner stepped back into him. A hand slipping off the handle, the bump sent Eleazar pivoting around unexpectedly. His foot slipped out underneath him, all grip on the axe was lost sending him toppling backward with a startled cry. Hitting the slope his body's momentum didn't stop, knees going over elbows and ears scrapping the surface.

Terrified about running out of slope, the teen immediately star fished, slidding a foot before he eventually stopped moving. Petching hai, that guard was going to either kill him directly or would scare the girl into doing it for him at this rate. He was never going to get involved by saving someone ever again, the thief solemnly lied to himself. The roof caved in at that point disappearing beneath his legs with a loud crack and the woman's scream. Clung for the most part above the hole, fingers gripped at the surface of the wood as his body gradually dropped further and further into the hole.

He was petched, he was so petched. Never again. Stupid pig headed axe wielding maniac! Crazy lady with her lack of cowardice. Petch them both. Now chest deep in the hole, the wood burned under the worn through skin of his fingertips as Eleazar's face turned to despair. Today had been going alright too. Shyke, he wasn't going to be able to hold on much longer. Dropping to only his elbows the sudden bounce of weight pulled him in all the way. Landing legs first, they crumpled beneath him like cloth sending him arse, shoulders and back of the head first into the floor beneath with a thud.

Flashes of colour danced in front of his eyes as various bruises began to bloom down his body. He just wanted to lie there and not move at all for the next few bells. But they were now in someone's house and hadn't been to subtle about so whomever lived here was probably on their way to see what the racket was about. And of course there was the guard outside and the possibility of the roof falling in. Hearing the rough breathing of another, the thief tilted his head back until the limp form of his partner appeared. Her fall had been cushioned by a clothes box so she most likely hadn't broken anything.

A look of panic and a sudden struggle of limps in her had the thief try to pick himself off the floor. She had seen something. Something was coming. He had to get up. Groggy from the fall, Eleazar rolled ungracefully onto his stomach catching splinters off the fallen wooden debris as he went. Knees bent as weak arms forced his body to a kneeling position. This was as far as he got before a leg smashed through the window only to disappear and widen the hole it had made. Still as angry as a bull seeing red, the guard wriggled his way in to the room. Face bleeding from the shards of flying glass, the teen had barely enough time to curse when the thug was upon him.

Meaty experienced hands clenched onto his shoulders hauling him up against the wall before pressing firmly against his throat. His oxygen supply being crushed, the thief raised a leg wedging itself in between the two, foot rested on the brutes chest. Growling in response to this, the fingers curled inwards digging into the flesh around the teen's spine as he pushed harder against the man's chest. He couldn't breath, shyke. His own hands clawed at those around his neck as footfalls sounded from a room nearby. Shyke, they were in trouble, lots of damn trouble. Spluttering for air he couldn't get, a purple colour grew over his cheeks as blood pooled around his head. The slow creaks were heard as the axe's weight finally broken the wood beneath it as the thief vision grew dark.

Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Postby Amora Jade on December 1st, 2014, 8:51 am

Amora watched as the hole in the roof grew larger and her partner slowly fell into the building along with her. The scene was beginning to become very dangerous as the wood and shingles from the roof began to crash into the room and nearly hit the thief as she tried to catch her breath once more and run out of the door. With a quick glance over at the boy she noticed the brute outside of the window crashing through it. Immediately she began to stumble towards the door in a desperate attempt to escape without much more harm done to her. The skin on her fingers had just come in contact with the medal of the door’s handle when she was stopped in her tracks.

Something unfamiliar ate at her. For some reason she couldn’t just leave the boy there to die and save herself. She knew that if she did his death would be because of her, and there would be no way she could live with that thought. The thief groaned and turned to face the brute who she now saw was holding the boy up by his throat. More debris began to fall into the building as another large man appeared from a different room. He was wielding a gladius and was prepared to kill everyone in his home, but couldn’t make it out of the room he was in due to the planks of wood that blocked his path.

With the owner of the house occupied, Amora decided to try to save her partner. Deafening sounds of wood cracking and snapping were all she could hear as she stumbled her way across the debris littered floor towards the brute. She hadn’t a clue what she’d do to get him off the boy other than strike him in the back. A loud snap forced her eyes to shoot above the pair and catch a glimpse of the axe crashing downwards towards them. It felt as if her heart stopped- and everything began to move in slow motion.

Amora ignored her pain and lunged towards the pair in a desperate attempt to save the boy. All in one tick the brute dropped Eleazar, Amora grabbed him by the coat and pulled him towards her, and the ax came crashing through the roof- landing directly on the mercenary’s head. The sound of his skull being crushed beneath its weight caused her stomach to churn. The thief wouldn’t dare look at him, she just concentrated on pulling the unconscious boy out of the building.

With one hand she clutched the collar of the back of his coat and began to pull him while the other grasped the handle of the door and turned it. She had to move quickly in order to avoid having either of them hit by the caving roof. Once she had the door open she began to pull him with both hands, lessening the strain on her part. His body slid against the ground in short bursts of pulls. Luckily he wasn’t very heavy- as if he was only made of skin and bones.

The thief drug her partner for a chime or two before they were far enough away from the building for her to feel safe from harm. Amora had found a narrow alleyway that harbored nothing more than a small empty crate. As gently as she could manage, she set Eleazar’s head on the ground and sat down on the crate to catch her breath. She began to wonder if he was severely hurt due to his unconsciousness, but wouldn’t know how to check or help him regardless.

After another chime she decided she ought to try and wake him. The thief gathered herself and knelt down beside him. “Hey! Wake up! I can’t drag you around all day and I have no clue where you live..” Amora didn’t know if her attempt would be worth anything or not. She knew he wasn’t dead due to his chest moving slightly from his breathing, which was the only reason she stayed with him. What kind of person would she be to leave the boy her saved her in an alley to be robbed and possibly killed?

Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Postby Eleazar Victor Syroin on December 1st, 2014, 7:31 pm

There were noises, odd distant muffled noises. His chest hurt and he couldn't breathe; why couldn't he breathe? Trying to open his eyes further took too much effort so they were just left a jar as the thief struggled to remember or think. Nothing was clear or in focus, just all blurry colours slipping from red to blue in a dizzying fashion. What was going on? Where was he? His neck felt …. warm? No, that wasn't the right word. What was the right word? Urgh it would be easier to figure out if his heart wasn't beating so loudly. More muffled noises but closer now. No, shut up. He needed to think. He needed to think and ….. breathe.

Suddenly his neck didn't feel whatever it had felt, now it was cold? empty? Free? Something was missing but he still couldn't figure out what it was. But someone was there and someone had been there. Eleazar's thoughts weren't making any sense anymore. From what he could tell for certain there had been a loud noise, a familiar noise and he could breathe again. Pumping air in and out, letting it flow down his throat a rhythm formed helping paw at the fog around the teen's mind. He was being pulled somewhere, out of a house he concluded as the vague shape of a door frame passed overhead. Everything felt heavy and the desire to fall asleep was so tempting. Maybe just for a chime or two.

Drifting away into a light slumber, Eleazar slumped as he was dragged, lifeless in the woman's grip even as he was dumped on the earth beneath him. A peaceful expression covered his face, blank of fear or excitement or panic, just the grubby face of a hungry nineteen year old. His breathing had reverted to a slow deep pattern, occasionally hitching when the muscles in the thief's throat spasmed. Thick purple lines covered his neck, a perfect map of where the fingers had held him to the wall.

A sudden shudder moved through the thief as a shadow passed over him, blocking the sunlight from warming his skin. There was more noise, a voice, a woman's voice. Groaning as goosebumps developed over his skin, the teen's eyes scrunched with the gasp that came from his throat. Cold! So cold! Tossing his head back, a hand came to his throat. It hurt, bruise flesh burning under the touch of his icy fingers. What had happened? The roof had collapsed and the thug had got him, strangling the life away. But then someone had pulled him away. Who...? Eyelids opened slowly to see his partner in crime kneeling over him, looking worried.

“....Mornin' gorgeous.”

Groggy the words had already escaped his mouth before he could think of what they meant. His body was properly shivering now, as breath ghosted in front of his face. Sitting up and bringing his knees close to his chest, the scrawny teen tried to bring as much warmth to his core as he could. Where even was he? It looked like an alley how had he gotten to an alley. The lady would know. Realising embarrassingly that he still didn't know her name, the teen turned to his fellow thief wearily.

“What 'appened and where are we? Also what's ya name?”

Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Postby Amora Jade on December 1st, 2014, 11:47 pm

It took a moment for Amora to notice the bruising that had formed on Eleazar’s neck. She knew he had to be in a lot of pain. Not even just from that alone- from all of the trouble she had caused him that day. The thief knew she’d have to repay him somehow, but that really wasn’t as much of a sacrifice as he had given her. When his body began to come to life again a wave of relief washed over her and a gentle smile rested on her lips. At least she wouldn’t have to drag him anywhere else. The dark-haired girl shifted her weight onto her heels to give him some room to move and breathe.

His “Mornin’ gorgeous” remark made her laugh a bit. She couldn’t help it. After all the pain and stress they had went through it was nice to have a bit of comedic relief. A light breeze across her face sent a chill down her spine then through the rest of her body. Because of all of the adrenaline that had been surging through her veins before she had been able to ignore the bitter cold of the winter air. It was obvious that the boy was beginning to feel it again too as he pulled his long legs against his chest.

Once he completely gathered himself he began to question her, as she could only expect him to do. She hadn’t even realized before that she never even introduced herself to him as he did to her, “Well we aren’t too far from the Quarters, just drug you as far as my body would let me, and as far away from that building as I felt necessary. And my name is Jade.” Amora took a moment to look the boy over- to see if he was bleeding from anywhere uncontrollably. When she saw that he wasn’t she continued, “Thank you. I know I caused you a lot of trouble.

The thief pulled her coat tightly around her body in an attempt to keep the cold out, but it didn’t do much good. Her body still began to shake and her teeth began to chatter a bit. Winter was really beginning to make its mark in the city, and she wasn’t happy about it. She knew that the two would need to find themselves inside pretty soon before they ended up both injured and sick. That’s really all she needed- more guilt.

Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Postby Eleazar Victor Syroin on December 15th, 2014, 5:48 am

OOCOkay I lied about replying after exams. I needed to take a break from studying so this happened. Let's finish this one! :D

His careless comment instantly brought a smile to the woman's face. It wasn't often he made people smile, it made his feel kind of warm inside. It was a nice and calming warmth, one he wanted to snuggle up to and never let go. Sadly it didn't do much to help against the breeze as it whipped right through the thin material he wore. C-Cold. His attention, however, switched back to the woman next to him as she answered his enquiries. The teen relaxed a little once he was told they were near the Quarters. He knew the Quarters and the thought of the thief's room, especially his bed, called to him.

Finished explaining, the woman politely introduced herself as 'Jade'. Probably an alias he figured, unless her parents had a serious love of precious rocks, but who was he to judge if it wasn't. Heck ignoring that incident at Ruby's near the start of the season, when was the last time he had properly gone by his real name? Ten, no, eleven? Eleven and a bit years. Something like that. Regardless of what her real or not-so-real name was Jade's gratefulness wasn't something he had expected. Face colouring pink, the teen didn't know what to say. She had probably saved him as many times as he had saved her over the past bell so they were kind of even. It's not like she owed him anything or vice-versa.

A little distracted, it took Eleazar a few moments to realise that Jade was looking just as cold as he was. With neither of them moving, the heat had sapped out of their bodies quite rapidly. Shuddering as the sky began to become littered with clouds, the teen decided that he should get going before either of them frozen to death. Uncurling and rocking forward to stand up, the movement sent the world spinning and him flat on the ground again, face first this time. Well he wasn't going to get home like that. Waiting for the dizziness to subside, he pointed his now bruising nose toward Jade looking at her hopefully.

“Jade~ Would ya be willin' ta 'elp mi get ta mi apartment? Jist Ay'm a bit, a bit dizzy at 'e moment. Likely not that far either. Aboot four streets down from 'e orphanage and 'en first right after 'e little well at 'e junction. Please?”

Under normal circumstances Eleazar would have rather struggled home by himself but now lacking the strength to even pick himself up from where he had fallen, the teen had decided to take the risk. Not that it was too hard to decide, Jade had been the one to save his sorry arse when she could of run. So he was honestly expecting her to help him, giving her directions and everything. Not like he was lying either, his apartment was probably quite close to where they were given it's location and the direction they had been running before. Still sprawled on the floor, he held out an arm for her to haul him up, awaiting her decision wearily.

Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Postby Amora Jade on December 15th, 2014, 7:10 am

Small clouds were formed in front of the thief’s lips as she breathed, a sight she was more than unhappy to see. Amora eyed her partner, wondering if he’d be willing to move soon so she wouldn’t have to leave him. The dark haired girl wasn’t built for the cold, she would prefer to be roasted on a fire than to stay out in the winter air long enough to turn her nose and cheeks red.

Large eyes trailed upwards to the sky for a moment, only to be rudely greeted by the sight of storm clouds tumbling into the empty sky above them. The wind was beginning to pick up a bit more. Each little breeze caused the thief to wince a bit and grit her teeth. If it started to rain- or worse, snow- they would be petched. Amora wasn’t the most fun to be around when stuck in bad weather during that season, and she knew she would end up taking it out on the poor boy and leaving him if they didn’t get moving.

His movement caught the corner of her eye and she stood up next to him as he rose, but didn’t keep her eyes on him. Amora was looking around to see if by chance they had been found by the owner of the house they ruined, just as a precaution. She was sure they had lost him and her glances around confirmed that for her, but unfortunately her lack of attention to the boy caused her to miss how the petch he was back on the ground so quickly.

A small gasp escaped her before she was able to control it once she realized he fell. The poor boy couldn’t even stand because of her! The thief bit her lip and crouched next to him with a guilty and apologetic look plastered on her face. As he looked up at her she began to take into account how awful his face was bruising up, she definitely owed him now. A world’s worth of pain all because she tripped over someone’s foot!

Amora sighed quietly as Eleazar made his request, trying her hardest not to let it be audible to him. Of course she didn’t really want to carry him home, she didn’t even possess that kind of strength- not even for someone as thin as he was. After only a tick of debating whether or not she really, really, wanted to help him get home. Of course she was going to help him. She felt bad enough he looked like shyke because of her, she wasn’t going to let him freeze to death too!

The girl took his outstretched hand and pulled him onto his feet before ducking under his arm. She wrapped her right arm around his waist and held his left hand on her own left shoulder for support. The position was a bit awkward considering their huge differences in height, but the fact that he was dizzy and injured helped to slink him down just a bit and make it easier.

Once he was secure Amora began to take slow steps in the direction of where the boy lived. It wasn’t too far at all from where she lived either so it wasn’t too much of a burden to her afterall.

Just let me know if you need a break or if we can walk faster, I don’t want you passing out on me again.

Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Postby Eleazar Victor Syroin on December 15th, 2014, 6:10 pm

GraderPermission granted to thread Jade carrying Eleazar to his apartment. :)

A relived sigh gasped him when Jade took a hold of his hand. She was going to help him. Smiling weakly as the smaller woman pulled him to stand, the world spun once again. Luckily this time he had someone to catch him, ducking under his arm and supporting him around the waist the teen wobbled back then forward before finding his balance. A fuzzy feeling that had nested in his head as every little jolt snowballed into a great pitch or rotation of world, making him feel queasy and light headed from simply standing up. Eleazar silently hoped that it would ease up once they started moving, at least then he would be less likely to accidentally squish his new found acquaintance.

Listening to Jade's words he made the mistake of nodding in reply to them bouncing the skyline a fair distance in either direction. Balance faltering, Eleazar lurched forward slight, setting the pair off as they staggered down the street. It was a nerve wrecking with his impaired balance now making the teen hyper aware of how tall he was compared to his fellow thief. There was perhaphs half a foot between them in height and although he was fairly spindly in the limb department, it would still feel rather heavy if he fell on her. Teeth chattering as they went the slow ticks soon turned into chimes. Wobbling now and then only for Jade to prevent him from completely losing his balance, Eleazar simply focused of putting on foot in front of the other.

They made good progress and before long he could see the well on the junction near his home. Signalling with a point of his finger, the teen would lead her through a door, into a corridor and up two small flights of stairs before stopping in front of one of the many identical worn down doors they had past. Key fished out the safety of his coat pocket, he carefully unhooked his arm from Jade's shoulders and rocked forward to sloppily brace himself against the wood. Key in lock, it turn with a little resistance before clicking open, allowing Eleazar to graceless slip to the floor again. Ah well, at least it was the floor of his apartment rather than some dirty street.

The room that revealed itself beyond the door and pile of dizzy thief was surprisingly empty giving the idea that it was spacious. In reality; it was slightly bigger than some of the other rooms in the building but the carefully constructed arrangement of a pitcher, three buckets and a washbasin filling themselves off drips in the roof could only explain how someone as seeming run down as Eleazar could afford it. Beyond this organised water catching system, there was only a few other things in the room. A rug, a segment of a broken mirror, a washboard located in the basin, an empty chamberpot discreetly placed near window, a bed complete with blanket and the few shadowy hints of things placed underneath it for storage with a window facing opposite anyone entering through the door and small stone hearth built into the wall by the bed, a few logs piled nearby out of the damp. The funny smell of damp and woodlice clinging to the walls gave a visitor the overall idea that it looked like an other room in the cheap side of the Quarters. Damp, draughty and under furnished.

Grabbing the door handle, scrawly arms managed to drag their owner up from the floor. Clinging on tightly to the handle on either side of the down, the thief was still rocking slightly on his feet as he tried to gauge Jade's reaction. Not many people had visited his apartment and their reactions always varied so it would be interesting to see what his fellow thief made of the place. He also wasn't sure if he should invite her in or not, so this would be how he would decide. Then again there was always the chance that she would just come in regardless of his lack of invitation.

Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Postby Amora Jade on December 16th, 2014, 7:57 pm

The walk to Eleazar’s home was awkward and difficult. Amora found herself having to hold his entire weight up more than once along with trying to keep them both on their feet. The trek up the stairs was by far the most difficult, but the pair did eventually make it to his door. Once they got there the thief let the boy shift his weight onto the door so he could open it and give her a break.

As soon as he was off of her she stretched her arms above her head and then stretched out her back, grunting with each movement as the soreness left her body and she fixed her posture. The dark haired girl turned her head to look down the hall they just walked up. It wouldn’t take even a chime for her to get to her own apartment. A small smile formed on her lips. She was wore out, ready to go home and plop down on the straw bed- but it wasn’t her night to sleep on it.

When Amora was about fourteen she and her mother had to take apart the second bed that was in the apartment in order to make repairs on the floor and walls. Since then they had begun to take turns sleeping on the only bed left, alternating every night. The thought that she’d have to sleep on the cold hard floor forced a sigh from her. That day was just really not working in her favor. At all.

As the door swung open the thief’s attention was shifted back to the boy, only to see him falling again. Instinctively she reached out for him but her fingertips barely brushed his coat before he was on the ground. Before she could start to help him up he had taken hold of the door handle and brought himself to his feet again. Once she was sure he had his balance and wasn’t about to just fall right back down again she looked inside the door.

It was larger than she had expected, but didn’t have much in it. It reminded her of her own place a bit, the way it was run down and cold. Amora took a step close to the door to peek in and find the hearth. He would freeze to death in his own apartment if it wasn’t lit before he slept. The thief doubted that he’d feel up to the struggle of lighting it himself after all she put him through.

Once her eyes caught sight of it she turned her attention to Eleazar again, “Do you want to get a fire going for you? It’s freezing in there, might as well be sleeping outside.

Clumsy Thief (Eleazar)

Postby Eleazar Victor Syroin on January 16th, 2015, 5:54 pm

A fire? Craning his head to look at the hearth, the thief mentally entertained the suicidal notion of sleeping without it lit before deciding he would like to awake tomorrow with all his toes still attached. She was offering to light it for him too which was nice. Head spinning, Eleazar tried to figure out what that would mean. Well she would probably need the tools to light a fire so tinder, flint and steel along with a lot more patience than he had. The thief nodded his head at her before he stumbled away across the room to crash into his bed. His knees slamming against the floor made him wince as bruises were bruised even more. Was there a part of him that didn't hurt at the moment? For some reason the teen doubted it. Crouching down, he began to fumble about under the bed eventually grabbing a hold of bag hidden underneath it.

Bag hauled out from where it had hid, Eleazar began his search. He was admitted a fairly paranoid man when it came to people. Hallucinations you could at least predict and had the safety net knowledge that they weren't real. People were unpredictably real to the point of being dangerous. So it didn't matter that the woman had saved his life today, he wasn't going to just let her rummage through his stuff. Especially since her thievery had been the thing that had gotten them into this mess in the first place, working hand in hand along side his talent of being unable to avoid trouble. The large bag of tinder he had been hunting for located from underneath a small pile of clothing, was placed on the ground next to him as he began the hunt a new for the flint and steel located somewhere in the bag.

A soft humming had formed in his throat as he shuffled about in the bag. It was of a song most children in Sunberth learned growing up and helped ease his nerves a bit. Half way through the second verse the flint was located and placed by the bag of tinder. Switching to only one hand, the other rubbed gently across his neck to ease the bruising and encourage the blood to return. The room's spinning was gradually slowing down too. The last bar was repeated over again as he finally found the steel setting it down as he repacked the bag, returning it to it's hiding place. Motioning towards the pile he had assembled the teen rested his back against the bed letting his head lull back onto the mattress. Arm propped up on his one bent knee, he let his body relax, closing his eyes as he mentally focused on the soft whistling of the wind through the rafters.
