Appearance

Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 56 years old
Birthday: Fall, 45th, 459
Birthplace: Syliras, The Mithryn Outpost

Appearance: Masked, hooded and covered in long robes, very little is visible of the man underneath. From his general looks you can tell that he's tall, somewhere around 190 cm or more and that he has a large frame. Whether it is from eating or because he has big bones or a lot of muscles is difficult to tell. The clothes seem to have been made for a man of a larger size than Mordrion. The sleeves and legs of his outfit hang around him, with a lot of extra fabric used when they were made. The eyes are visible, however, and they show a clear grey full of intelligence and curiosity. From beneath the mask and the hood, grey hairs sneak out, as if trying to find some sunlight from underneath the clothes.

Character Concept

An inquisitive mind, self confident and independent, hard working and open to the experiences of others are but a few things that help Mordrion. On the opposite hand arrogance, quick to judge, quick to discard others and an inability to tolerate those who do not change are a few things that hinder Mordrion.

Looking to expand his own knowledge, Mordrion is focused on research and theories and testing those theories. For Alchemy and Animation he spends his time in books and noses through them for days on end before attempting even the smallest of experiments but for his malediction he jumps in head first in the deep end, experimenting with reckless abandon as if his time on Mizahar is about to come to an end.

When it comes to learning from others, which is sometimes necessary, Mordrion will learn quietly and calmly and apply what he's learned as quickly as possible. While he's quite good at retaining information he's heard or read somewhere, there's nothing like experimentation and testing to remember something truly for a person like Mordrion.

Preferring a more "lone wolf" approach to his research, Mordrion focuses on maximizing the spending of his awake time (which equals to work time almost for a 100 percent.) on his work. He has very little to no patience for interruptions from others, especially when they're looking for tutoring. He only accepts leadership from others as long as they prove to be useful towards a certain goal. Should that leadership one day turn into something that could hold him back it would be discarded just as quickly.

If given enough freedom, Mordrion will complete the work he sat out to do or that was assigned to him in an acceptable time frame without looking for the rewards of said work. The solving or completing of a project in itself is the reward as it would prove or disprove (both being equally valuable) yet another theory. Whatever reward is received is nothing more than funding for solving the next problem(s).

Character History

Mordrion was born in The Mithryn Outpost to a single mother who raised him with all the love she had to give. He never knew his father but that didn't stop Mordrion from living a good life. He helped his mother where he could and as soon as he was strong enough he set out to work in the fields to earn money for her like his father should have been doing if he had been there. The first thirteen years of his life passed by without much happening. Around 473, a stranger passed through the Outpost and stayed with them.

In a very short period of time, this stranger became Mordrion's best friend and father figure. What had started as a single night's stay turned into several years very quickly. While not useful as a farmer due to his physical state, the man did bring his own share of the funds through his work, which Mordrion had a hard time understanding no matter how many times it was explained to him. In general, the man was looking for something but it wasn't something physical that you could touch but something you knew.

Not only did the man become Mordrion's father figure, he also took an interest in Mordrion's mother and, while they never married, they lived together as a family. Taller than the other children and more well built then most of them, Mordrion was noticed by the steward of the outpost who came to his house one night and offered to take Mordrion to Syliras to become a knight. He was promised that if he worked hard enough, like he did in the fields, he would become a knight very quickly.

In 476, Mordrion set out with the blessings of his parents and the guidance of the steward to become a knight of Syliras. The years passed by quickly in training, study and work and in no time, Mordrion was faced with his Knightly quest. He performed it as expected and everyone seemed to agree that he would make a good night once he was knighted. But the Windoak thought differently. On the night before the ceremony, Mordrion learned that all the years of hard work had been in vain for he could not become a knight of Syliras. In 480, Mordrion's career as a knight of Syliras ended prematurely.

Angry, upset and defeated, Mordrion returned home, not understanding why he wasn't allowed to become a knight. He had studied like they had asked, he had worked like they had asked, he had trained to prove that he was knight material like they had asked and he had completed the quest given to him, like they had asked. But he couldn't become a knight because some tree decided on it? The reunion with his family was short and sweet, but Mordrion threw himself on his work, spending days at a time out in the fields, harvesting crops and planting new ones. What little free time he had was spent on maintaining his knightly skills.

One day, his father took him apart and sat him down, discussing what had happened in Syliras with his son. Reluctantly, Mordrion explained what had happened. His father understood his disappointment and gave him a new direction for life, something more than just planting cereals and harvesting them. With his knightly studies, his father's world suddenly looked much more interesting than it had done before he had left. He started to spend less time out in the field, only as much as necessary, and spent more time with his father, learning what he could from him.

Under his father's guidance he learned to enjoy solving puzzles and problems and learned how to approach things he didn't know so that one day he would understand them fully. After some years he started picking up his own interests as well, no longer just helping his father solve his theories and experiments but also starting to uncover his own. His failure as a knight was quickly dimmed down to a bad experience and replaced with the thrill of uncovering great theories and secrets (even if most of them were universally accepted truths already and just taken on as practice).

Around the age of twenty nine, Mordrion's father sat him aside once more and explained that he wouldn't be able to learn anything else from him. Once more, with the blessing of his parents and the leftovers of knightly possessions, Mordrion set out into the world, avoiding the city of Syliras, in search of other places to learn. Not only to learn about the skills his father had taught him but about anything at all that might come his way.
