Naveena Clematis

50th Day of Winter 515 AV

The White Swan Inn was finally winding down after a steady stream of customers throughout the evening. Naveena, still dangling from the beamed ceiling of the Inn, twisted and spun within the Symenestran silk in a gesture usually reserved for ending a performance. The Inn was one of the few places in Syliras that had the space and facilities for a full demonstration of aerial dancing. It allowed her to swing, spin, and drop amongst the folds of silk as customers ate and drank their fill.

As the last of the patrons exited the doors of the Inn, Naveena began looping the Ranekissra silk around her slim figure. After the deep purple swath was secured, she stood atop the ceiling beam and lightly made her way to the wall in which the beam was secured. Naveena reached the wall and gripped the seemingly smooth surface with a black-tipped hand. Since the silk was wrapped strategically around her shoulders and torso, leaving her arms and legs free, she released the microscopic hooks from her skin and latched onto the wall. Simply and expertly, she climbed down the wall from the ceiling beams, a skill that brought on praise and disgust from from unprepared people. Luckily, the White Swan Inn hired her specifically for her Symenestran traits to provide a unique performance for their patrons during their evening meal.

Naveena touched down on the wooden floors of the inn, releasing the microscopic hooks from the walls, and striding towards the individual responsible for her wages. After a quick word of praise while the coin changed hands, Naveena thanked her employers, retrieved her black cloak, and headed out the door. The winter chill hit her pale skin fiercely, reminding her that Syliras weather was quite different from the caverns of Kalinor. Her lavender eyes scanned the empty streets for predators looking to ambush those with full pockets before moving on past the Inn.

Naveena kept the hood thrown over her silver hair as she made her way back to her cramped living quarters in Stormhold Castle. Her stomach rumbled with anticipation to the liquefied rabbit currently waiting for her at home. The rabbit, caught in the Mithryn Outpost amongst the fields, would be a welcome meal after a night of dance.

Click. Click. Click.

Naveena heard the distinct clicks of shoes upon the cobbled streets of Syliras, not too far behind her. She didn't look back, didn't alert that she knew of the presence behind her. Naveena breathed in, trying to catch the scent but could detect nothing besides the reek of the city. Experimently, she picked up her pace and turned down the street on the right. Not a few seconds before she was down the street, Naveena heard the click clack of shoes hasten to catch up to her.

To her left on this alleyway, was the small tavern that had appeared to have been vacant for months before Naveena had discovered it. It's location was troublesome at best for patrons and the lighting was so poor down this alleyway, most didn't realize it was here. However, Naveena had discovered it and used it to practice her dancing forms before performances throughout Syliras. As Naveena sped up and went towards the door, she only hoped the poor lighting worked in her favor and her pursuer wouldn't realize there was a door hidden in this alleyway.

Naveena slipped inside the taverns, the click clack sounds faded and in the distance. She closed the door quickly behind her and stepped back into the tavern, surveying the area. While the tavern was mostly bare, Naveena had pushed the bits of broken chairs and tables against the walls to provide additional space. While there were candles along the bar waiting to be lit, Naveena didn't want light to be seen under the entrance door. After a few moments of silence, Naveena breathed a sigh of relief and walked back toward the bar to light the candles. It was then that she heard the echo of the door open.

Naveena slowly turned back towards the door where the darkened silhouette of her pursuer stood. With her fangs slightly lengthening in warning, Naveena spoke with silky words laced with venom.

Who are you?

A New Dance or Two...{Jade Laken}

Postby Jade Laken on December 21st, 2015, 5:48 am

Jade watched as the woman danced inside the building. "Amazing," she said wanting to learn to dance with such grace as all she could do was barely stay up on her own two feet at the moment. Jade began to shake violently and hugged herself to keep some of the wind off her body, "we won't last in this cold." She said and hugged her horse's neck. Jade looked when she heard some clapping and saw the girl had gotten down from the silk. Jade yawned gently tired but at least wanting to speak to the young girl and find out how much training would cost if she could ever find a job and home. she hide in the alley beside the building as the young girl walked by after looking around outside of the door for but a few mere moments. Once the girl had begun her walking Jade walked behind her hoping to find out more about the city. She had walked around some yesterday when she arrived but when the season changed she and her horse hunkered down in an alley way. Jade was hoping that the young girl had not realized that she was following her though Jade made no attempt to hide her presence in the slightest. She prayed to any gods or goddesses in the sky that this was one of the kinder people in this city. Jade panicked when the girl began to run ahead off her, barely able to keep up Jade raced after her trying to keep up with her. Her breathing became labored as she lost sight of the girl for a few moments and raced past the alley she had disappeared down. Jade panted reaching the other end and knew something was wrong that in her panic she had missed something that could be vital to her survival. She quickly turned and raced back finally spotting the alley way. "There!' she said and slowed walking down the alley way seeing the small building, "abandoned?" She questioned quietly looking at it before slowly opening the door looking around. Jade jumped some when she heard the venom in the girls voice as her heart sank knowing just knowing there was no way that this girl would help her but she would never ignore a question asked of her. "My name is Jade Laken," She said quietly looking at the girl before her as Naveena sees the state the young girl is in and is taken back by her appearance of what would have been called a dancer many weeks ago.

Naveena Clematis

50th Day of Winter 515 AV

Naveena's eyes cut through the darkness and examined the figure. She was surprised to find a woman close to her own age and not a hulking prowler looking to make off with her earnings. She was of average height with a pretty faced accented with long, flaxen hair and slate-colored eyes. The woman answered her quietly, and Naveena's previous display of aggressive behavior softened to mild suspicion.

Naveena examined the girl carefully, noting the almost weathered look of the girl. She breathed somewhat heavily, suggesting she had been intentionally trying to catch up to Naveena. But why? Why did she follow me from the White Swan Inn? She didn't look like a con artist or thief; she looked alone and lost.

Naveena relaxed a bit more though the questions were constantly swirling about in her head. She felt her fangs shorten again to the normal length, and could feel the tension leave the room and the woman before her. She saw the woman squinting at her, eyesight failing her in the dark shadows of the abandoned tavern. Naveena silkily stepped over to the bar, her eyes still on the woman, and pulled the piece of flint from the pocket of her cloak. She let the hood of the cloak fall off her head, revealing the silvery waves styled for that night's performance.

Naveena slowly lit the various candles spread across the bar, bring light to the otherwise dark tavern. While she didn't need the light, the woman did. But who was she?

Why were following me from the White Swan, Ms. Laken?

While the question was asked in a non-threatening tone, there was a hint that she needed to answer the question. While Naveena didn't feel threatened and she didn't really want to frighten the woman, she was suspicious of a woman that had followed her with such intensity.

A New Dance or Two...{Jade Laken}

Jade rub her eyes as the sudden candle light hurt at first. "I was going to see where you stay and speak to the owner of price though I have no money to rent a room with at the moment," she said looking to the young girl gently as she heard her companion whine at her. "I had best go please forgive me for bothering you," Jade said as she closed her eyes and bowed at her waist before raising and turning around to leave the building making sure to close the door once more. She didn't wish to be a burden to anyone no matter how much she needed to be. Jade walked over to her horse quietly, "come let us go rest." Jade said as she lead her out of the alley way and back to the place where she had been staying hoping no one else had claimed it. Jade sighed gently as her stomach growled; she gently put her hand on her stomach before continuing to walk. "Not much left," she said finding just some roasted nuts and berries left. Jade dug some more and managed to find a carrot that she could feed her companion. "Let's get hunkered down then we will eat," Jade said as another wind cut through her causing her to almost drop what food she had left. She put everything away and continue to walk unaware that the girl had followed her. Jade saw the opening under the trunk was still there, "home." She took off her messenger bag sliding it in before digging out the carrot making sure her companion ate before she did. Once she had eaten Jade crawls in the small opening using the messenger bag as a pillow. She curled up tightly as she closed her eyes to try and get any kind of rest knowing that it would be hours before she ever let herself be over come by sleep.

Naveena Clematis

50th Day of Winter 515 AV

Naveena eyed the girl as she answered her in a subdued tone before turning away and exiting the tavern. She tilted her head as Jade carefully closed the door, a look of sadness haunting her pretty features. She wanted to forget the girl and continue on home where her liquefied rabbit was waiting for her. But she couldn't. She couldn't forget the slump of shoulders and desperate air about the girl.

Naveena clenched her jaws and strode across the floor and out of the tavern. She heard the girl talking quietly to her horse and followed the sounds of hooves until the girl was insight again. Her shoulders remained slumped as she led the horse out of the alleyway, oblivious to the silver woman calmly following them. Naveena hadn't intended to follow her but there was something about the girl and the way she spoke about having no money for board.

Naveena watched as the girl fumbled with what little food she had, the chill of the night beginning to set in. She watched as the girl settled into her 'home', fed her companion then herself, before curling up in a tight cocoon. Naveena willed herself to turn away and continue on with her own life. It was none of her business.

But Naveena couldn't. She had been this cold, this lost before and without Bo, she would have died in the wilderness of Kalea. And while the memory of her 'friend' still ached, she couldn't forget how the Kelvic had helped her when she needed it.

Naveena suppressed the groan wanting to break free and stepped towards the 'sleeping' girl huddled within herself. She knelt down several feet from her and her horse, wary of an animals she wasn't familiar with.

I know a place you can stay. It's not perfect, but it will be clean for you and your horse. Would you like me to show you?

Naveena took a quick glance at the snorting horse before her lavender eyes fell back on the girl.

A New Dance or Two...{Jade Laken}

Postby Jade Laken on December 21st, 2015, 3:55 pm

Jade jumped some and smacked her head on the tree, "ow." She rubbed her head before looking to the other girl. Jade was amazed that the girl had followed her. "You followed me but why?" She asked gently and looks when her companion snorted. "Hush now be nice," Jade said and got out from under the tree shaking out her hair gently before looking at the young girl. Finally her question registered in Jade's mind, "wait you know where we can stay?" Jade asked perking up some looking at the woman before her. "Please you must take us," Jade said with desperation in her voice. She was not above begging at this point should the woman before her feel like being cruel and making her beg for the information before taking her where ever the place was. Jade knew that she should not trust someone that she barely knew, but she had no room at this point to be picky about who she could trust and who she couldn't trust. Jade's heart pounded in her chest hoping that the girl before her would take pity on her. Jade petted her companions muzzle gently, "calm friend just stay very calm for now." She said gently before looking to the young woman across from her and rubs her eyes gently tired from the rough night on the ground the night before. Jade was as anxious as her horse to get to a place where the two could rest in some what more comfort.

Naveena Clematis

43rd Day of Winter 515 AV

Naveena surpressed the amused twitch of a smile as the startle girl jumped up from her crouched position. She stood as she watched the girl, confused and amazed at her presence, speak her horse in hushed tones. Naveena looked again at the horse, a strange animal she had never encountered in Kalinor, noticing how it instantly quieted at the girl's words. She tilted her head in observation as the horse began chewing on a shriveled piece of vegetation it found, forgetting the stranger's presence already.

Naveena turned back to the girl, choosing to not answer her question. In truth, she didn't know why she had followed the girl. Whether it be pity, compassion or curiosity, Naveena was here now and wanted to help this girl that reminded of her of herself when she had lived those weeks in the wilds of Kalea with Bo. A window of pain opened at the thought of her dear friend before she promptly closed it and locked it up tightly.

As the girl, Jade, asked her if she knew a place to stay, Naveena nodded and noticed the blatant desperation on the girl. Given that she had so little, Naveena wondered how long the girl had been living like this. She watched silently as the girl comforted her horse, speaking to it the same way children are spoken to. Naveena was curious as to the way the girl spoke to the animal and the way the animal responded to her. It seemed to be a strange relationship, one she had never witnessed before. Sure, Naveena had seen how Bo had reacted to horse but Bo was Kelvic. Half her soul was a black mare so Naveena understand her actions. But this, this was a human or at least she appeared to be. Maybe there was more to her than she believed.

Naveena made a note to research the relationship between man and animals at a later date as she nodded down the street and began walking.

The place can offer a room and stables for your...friend tonight. Come on, I'll show you.

Naveena strode out onto the street, keeping pace with the girl and horse. A part of her wanted to ask her questions but she kept herself silent. She wasn't raised to be nosy. Naveena simply watched the girl as they walked slowly down the cobbled street of Syliras.

A New Dance or Two...{Jade Laken}

Postby Jade Laken on December 23rd, 2015, 5:26 am

Jade was excited when the young girl began walking away. She quickly ran behind the beautiful dancer as her companion raced behind her able to easily keep up with the two legged creatures. Jade's heart pounded in her chest as her veins pulsed with the blood in her body. Every hair seemed to stand on end, suddenly she became fearful of why the woman was helping her. Her movements slowed as she watched the woman walking still towards there destination. Jade looks over at her horse as she walks with the same nervousness that is now presenting itself in her rider. Jade gently patted the side of her muzzle looking at the girl's back; the only reason that she did not turn and run is that the two friends needed the place to stay no matter what it looked like. Jade yawned looking around as she had never been to this part of the city yet as she had been so focused with trying to find food and shelter. Her companion snorted as the two walked before the silver haired girl wanting to turn around and leave the girl in the dust but not wanting to leave her rider with the unknown creature before her. Jade rubs her eyes and runs into a post, "ow." She said pulling back and rubbing her face from where it had struck the post in front of her. The wind whipped through her again more fiercely than it had before when she had curled up for the night. She knew that before long all feeling in her fingers and toes would go as her body would redirect all the heat from her appendages to the core of her body in order to protect the vital organ in her torso and abdomen. "I hope that it isn't much farther," she whispered to her companion rubbing her arms quietly.

Naveena Clematis

50th Day of Winter 515 AV

Naveena watched in her peripheral vision as the girl hurried to catch up her, the animal following close behind. She flinched slightly as the horse skidded a bit, worried that it would collide with her but the animal regained its footing. She looked back at the girl and slowed down, allowing herself to watch for a quick moment before looking away. Naveena had noticed that her posture was had stiffened as they began walking, a sure sign of nervousness.

I'm not going to hurt you, if that's your concern. I simply wanted to help.

Naveena spoke politely to the girl before noticing the horse fidget and snort as it paced besides its owner. She had a growing suspicion that they wouldn't be following her if they weren't so desperate.

But Naveena had seen how she had shivered and couldn't stand to see someone in such a state. Even though she didn't have much, she had enough for the girl and horse to a warm meal and bed, at least for tonight. After that, Naveena didn't know what would happen to her.

The place I know of is called the Golden Dragon and they have hearty meals and clean beds for you and your animal for tonight.
Naveena looked back at the girl, watching silently as the girl and horse interact. She was still fascinated with their relationship but too reserved to question her on it. Naveena noticed the slightly startled look on the girl's face at the name of the establishment and understood the reaction. The Golden Dragon, at its core, was a gentlemen's club that also catered to the taste of women. However, Naveena had learned that it was a good place to rest and was surprisingly hospitable and clean. The patrons were polite and the keep were respectable for their professions. Naveena would put her in a room at White Swan, but she didn't have that type of money just yet.

I promise, you won't be bothered there. And in case you're wondering, I'm not an evening lady by any means. I simply perform there occasionally when they want a clean entertainment from...dancers like me.

Usually, Naveena wouldn't discuss her own affairs but she didn't want the girl to think she was employed at the Golden Dragon. She usually made a several coins more than usual due to her...unique dancing and Symenestran heritage. The establishment, in fact, would love for her to perform there regularly but Naveena danced elsewhere at locations that were a little more respectable. At least she was certain she could promise the girl an eventful free evening.

A New Dance or Two...{Jade Laken}

Postby Jade Laken on December 23rd, 2015, 9:48 pm

"Where do you hail from?" Jade said gently trying to remember most of the small common she was taught by travelers passing through the Endrykas plains and her home encampment. She listened to the young girl as she spoke of the building called the Golden Dragon. Jade looked around some and saw the area to put horses at for the night. 'There is where you will be staying for the night big boy,' Jade said in pavi looking at her companion with a smile. She looked back to the young girl when she spoke of dancing. "I love to watch you dance. I watch from the window at night when you dance and wish I was up there with you," Jade said in a wishful voice wishing that she knew how to dance so beautifully. "I wanted to ask you who you learned it from so that I could learn as well but I dont have the money until I get a job," Jade said gently once more and looked up seeing a drunk coming out yelling profanities at the owner and stalking towards the two before shoving past them. Jade quickly used what dancing she knew to right herself once more. Though she looked far from graceful Naveena could see how graceful the girl was in her movements and knew that with some carefully guided training she would be an amazing dancer on the silks. "What?" Jade asked looking at the girl strange as she seemed to just watch Jade's movement now. She looked down at herself trying to figure out if she had something on her from where the drunk had pushed her over out of the way.
