Appearance: Alferic is 6’ tall and weighs 168 lbs. His head is shaven but not totally clean shaven as there some dark hair stubble remains. He has a black beard and thick black eyebrows. His face usually wears quite an intense expression, but this can soon turn into a broad smile and a twinkle in his dark green eyes. He is well-built and solid in body, but he is not carrying any excessive fat. His body carries the marking of a shattering sun with a sword striking through it diagonally across.



Character Concept
Alferic has a tendency towards caution and is a pragmatist at heart. Although some may perceive him to be rather dogmatic and closed-minded in his views, that is not the case, as he is a seeker of the truth through wisdom and knowledge. Consequently, he is most curious about the world around him and beyond. He likes to be efficient, organized and dependable, show self-discipline, act dutifully, aim for achievement, and prefers planned rather than spontaneous behavior, which he finds rather unsettling. Some may see his level of drive and efficiency as bordering on obsessive behaviour, or perhaps as him just being stubborn, which it can turn out to be on occasion. He is usually quite reserved, more of a reflective personality, perhaps preferring solitude above company that could be seen by some as him being aloof or self-absorbed. Despite this tendency he is basically a friendly, compassionate and cooperative person. He has a trusting and helpful nature, may be too trusting at times to the extent he could be called naive. Alferic generally has a stable and calm personality, which people could label him as being boring and uninspiring. He is definitely not a born leader!

Character History

Alferic had loving parents and being their only child there was a risk of him being spoiled by all the attention. Fortunately, this didn’t happen, as he was delighted to help his parents run a bakery with the young Alferic being a ready helper doing any chore that was asked of him while enjoying the smell of freshly made bread. Although neither parent was all that religious, Alferic became increasing curious about the nature of the world and why things were as they were. At the age of eight he started to attend the services of Amus, a priest of Eyris, Goddess of Wisdom, and was absolutely captivated by what he heard. When he was twelve there was a fire at the bakery and he was fortunate to be rescued by Amus of all people who then took him under his wing. Through Amus he came to understand that Eyris knows all things, including those things that have yet to come to pass, and those that worship her have an acute insight into their own lives and in the world itself. Alferic became a devote follower and constantly stayed by his adopted father’s side becoming a member of one of the splinter cells of the Lykata Cult, an organization dedicated to the retrieval and preservation of advanced knowledge. Amus told Alferic that the most powerful of these followers, now deceased, was a mage by the name of Thomas Lormar who dwelled in Sylira on the border of Taldera in the wilds pre-Valterrian. Perhaps one day Alferic might get the opportunity to see the land that Lormar dwelt in…?
Alferic has always lived in the city of Syliras, the capital city of Sylira. As the city is a melting pot of humanity he came to know a Benshiran called Jaben (the Patient) who taught him the rudiments of Shiber, his native tongue and Morgar, a gifted craftmen from Akalak who managed to teach a very few words of Tokant. In particular Alferic was pleased to learn the phrase “Discipline is Everything”.

Housing
Location: The Third Tier of Stormhold Citadel in Syliras

House: A spartan 20x20 apartment with the furniture listed in the Housing section. As it is the cheapest housing available, the apartment is situated deep within the interior of Stormhold Citadel and does not include any windows, only ventilation shaft to bring in fresh air. Each hallway is lined with torches which are kept lit at all hours of the day, allowing for light and giving residents free access to something to light their hearth from.
