Nayato's Grove
Nayato has claimed five acres of land far into the Maw touching a bend of The Sykan River and the proceeding lands stretching deeper into the jungle. Nayato was uninterested in beachfront property, wanting to be nearest to Makutsi's fresh river waters that he longed for when growing up in The Eyktol Region. Most of all the land that he has claimed is a mix of tropical jungle and thickets of bamboo.
He has plans on using the bamboo during the future construction of his home. As of spring 518, his campsite consists of two tents. The first is Nayato's four person tent which he is using as a temporary home. The ground of the tent is covered in various furs he's collected over the years, the main ones being two Eyktol Golden Wolf hides and a bobcat hide. The second tent is a one person tent that he uses for general storage; it also acts as a dog house for his Akinva Deerstalker named Osawa.
Both of Nayato's tent are facing towards the river. They face that way because it is the normal path visitors follow along the river to reach him rather than trudge through dense jungle or fight through the heavy sets of bamboo between his camp and Syka from behind. He's plans to make a line of bamboo to work as a trail to lead people to his home. He also plans to craft a home for himself mostly out of the resources around him further inland, and a stilted one along the rivers edge.

Nieve's Nest
Upon arrival in Syka, Nieve claimed 5 acres of land in the settlement. Sitting beside the Panacea just to the west in view of Solitude Isle, about an acre and a half is a vast expanse of white sand while the remaining 3 and a half acres stretches back up into the jungle. Evie picked a parcel of land with an excess of underbrush and low-to the ground plants, as well as with a few fruit trees of the mango, banana, and coconut variety near the treeline.
A narrow stream meanders through the piece of land a few feet into the jungle, still in view of the beach. It's not impressive, but it provides fresh water for drinking and bathing, as well as providing a source of small freshwater fish should Evie ever feel the urge to try her luck. It also serves a source of clay for Nieve to make pottery with. A thin coconut palm tree grows further down the beach towards the water's edge; it is bent at a particularly steep angle and hangs out over the ocean, and is often used as a perch by Nieve.
Evie has set herself up rather comfortably on the beach. Far enough back that the tides aren't an issue, but far enough from the treeline that she doesn't feel endangered, she has her 4 person tent set up to face the ocean. She's draped insect netting over the tent that she can pull down to cover the entrance, and keeps a tarp tucked into the corner of the tent ready to be draped over it should it rain.
A fire-pit sits about 4 feet from the entrance of the tent, close enough that she can enjoy the warmth of it while lazing in her tent but far enough that the flames never pose a fire hazard. Inside the tent, she has a blanket laid out on the ground and her bedroll on top of that in the back corner with her lamp sitting within arms reach. In the opposite corner sits her backpack and her spare gear and clothes, along with her potter's toolkit. A hammock has been hung between two trees at the forefront of the treeline near her tent, strategically placed so that it is always shaded should Evie ever want a respite from the heat.
A fair distance from her tent, away from the Panacea and closer to the treeline, Evie has outlined a large square in the sand where she plans on setting up a makeshift firepit kiln, hoping to eventually build a slightly more permanent one from bricks.

I screwed up and posted early...sorry
Here is my claimed location.
At the base of the Stair-step falls begins a path that winds up to the top where the river begins crashing to the sea below. 50 yards up river, a feeder stream branches off further into the jungle toward the towering cliffs that rise above the jungle floor. Following the stream, one will discover an hourglass shaped entrance to a cave. Foliage lines the cave entrance while vines hang down partially obscuring it. The stream's current emanates from inside the cave with while birds sing all around. The water is a beautiful blue color with tiny fish found all around.
Just inside the cave entrance, a pool of water, at least 25 feet deep extends further inside; filled with small fish and other tiny forms of sea life. The cave walls rise over 25 feet high with the pool itself being roughly 30 feet in diameter. As one travels further inside, the size of the cave drastically expands, growing to well over 100 feet in diameter and nearly as tall. The water becomes more shallow with a small rocky island in the center of the larger cavern. There is large hole, open to the land above, centered in the ceiling where vines hang down, touching the island. A stone shelf extends from the cavern walls and encircles the interior of the cavern.
During the day time, a pillar of sunlight shines down upon the rocky island while at night, moon and star light takes its place. Pockets of bats nest in the nooks and crannies in the ceiling. Small cascading streams of water fall from crevices in the cavern walls, serving as the source of the water flow that feeds into the larger river beyond. Smaller tunnels branch off from the main cavern, burrowing deeper into the jungle undergrounds.
It is here and the area surrounding the cave that Ialari Pythone has claimed as her own.
OOCThis location is a work in progress. The source of the cave's name will be revealed soon.

by Tailyn on March 11th, 2018, 10:50 pm
Tailyn has claimed five acres of land south and east of the Syka commons, just west of the Bungalows. Tailyn’s spot faces the southern beach, and includes both green undergrowth and beachfront as part of its property.
Tailyn’s tent is pitched on a small section of green undergrowth, looking outwards towards the beach. She is far enough away from the beach not to worry about encroaching tides but also close enough to clearly view the shoreline. Her section of beach contains a small outcrop of rocks that jut out from the beach and is an accessible fishing spot during low tides.
In the forest area of her acres there are fruit trees containing bananas, oranges, mangos, and coconuts. Tai has tied up a pair of hammocks side-by-side between a group of young, bendy coconut trees, fit both for relaxing and napping for herself and also for spending time with visitors. In good weather, this is usually where Tailyn will sleep.
A spring of freshwater has collected not far from where Tailyn’s tent is set up. It is not quite large enough to bathe a human, but it works well enough as a water source for the parrots and is also an excellent place for them to bathe and play. Tailyn has dragged several pieces of driftwood nearby to serve as perches for her birds and this is commonly where they stay, except in bad weather when they are brought inside. When construction is complete, this is also where the outdoor cages for the birds will be located.
Wild parrots frequently linger nearby, as Tailyn has been known to feed and play with them in the hopes of taming some adults.

by Alona Halloran on March 16th, 2018, 3:25 am
Alona's five acres of land can be found a few minutes walk south from the sawmill. A simple sandy trail can be seen that links the two properties, kept clear by a combination of wagon wheels and foot traffic. The cause of the former can be found on Alona's end of the path, a small wooden cart she wheels by hand when the need arises.
Beyond that is a natural clearing off to the south-east side of the property. As of 518, it houses a single tent sitting on a raised wooden deck attached to a set of stairs. However, a bungalow is planned for the future. It will be lofted, with her workshop able to be seen from the doorless entrance, and simple living quarters hanging above. Near her bed is a small balcony, facing the south where the beachfront can just barely be seen through the trees. Below the dwelling, one can find a patch of ground beside the stairs, the freshly tilled start of a small garden.
The majority of the area is dense woodland of the tropical variety in a mix of tall palms, Cedar, and Rosewood. From time to time, one can find stumps where some of the smaller trees were once, but thanks to the sawmill Alona's needs for lumber are usually met, meaning she rarely needs to worry about chopping her own. |
Now that Alona's talked through her plot a bit with Randall, I think it's about time to get her location down. I hope it's okay to keep it a little vague since the landmark near Alona's home isn't on the linkmap yet. |
