Physical Information Race: Chaktawe Age: 25 years (born 7th day of Spring, 585AV) Gender: Male |
Physical Description Chanuah, being a member of the Chaktawe race, has skin tone reminiscent of bronze, tanned and darkened by a life spent under the harsh Eyktolian sun. His hair is black and long, usually worn in a pair of braids with feathers of various birds woven in. His face is fair and his jaw strong, accented by his entirely jet black eyes. He is always clean shaven, having no need for extra hair or warmth in the deserts of Eyktol. He stands at 5'10", a bit shorter than most average males, but he is well-muscled and quick. He weighs in at 210 pounds, though his weight may vary depending on how much water his body holds at the moment. He weighs his full 200 pounds when his dense water-storing organ is saturated, allowing him to go a full ten days without water. Another important attribute of Chanuah, and indeed all Chaktawe, are the small black "dots" on his finger-tips. These dots are smaller than the head of a pin, and beneath the surface carry an odd gel-like substance. They allow Chanuah to detect movement through the shifting of air, a sort of sixth sense that extends thirty feet or so around him. |
Character Concept Personality Chanuah is a quiet and reflective individual. It is not often that he is found in extended conversation, though those that have had such an experience report him as speaking with a quiet confidence that betrays what might seem to be bashfulness. He is quite pensive also, taking time to reflect on important events and thinks long and carefully before he makes any important decisions. He approaches everyday life with a solemn, melancholy mood, doing what must be done with the same air of quiet confidence that touches his voice. Interests Chanuah is interested in the Flora and Fauna of his native region, Eyktol, martial combat as an art form, hunting, Falconry, and the survival of his people. He is also interested in the Inarta and the Endal, because of the chance visit of one such person many years ago, to his father's father's father. If given the chance, Chanuah might visit Wind Reach one day - certain to be an odd sight - A desert dweller on a mountain. Religion Chanuah primarily worships Eywaat, the Lord of Crows and Ingenuity. The Chaktawe as a whole are thankful for Eywaat's role in their survival after the Valterrian, and this is reflected in Chanuah. He also worships Makutsi, the goddess of Rivers, that which the Chaktawe people lost so long ago. He also has recently recognized Caiyha to be of importance to him, as the creatures upon which his existence depends so heavily on are of her domain. His religious disposition centers around his being thankful for the means, provided by the gods, that ensure his and his people's survival. |
History Chanuah, born into a tribe of desert nomads, knew hardship from birth. The rough, unforgiven manner of the region shook him, but it also shaped him. Were it not for the everyday struggles for life, the harshness of the sun beating down on his back, and the constant companionship of his tribe, Chanuah would not be the man he is. He was born into a long line of hunters, whom had spent many generations providing sustenance to the tribe. They were not the highest ranked, nor most renowned hunters, but they were humble and executed vital services in the name of the Suli. Chanuah too took up the banner of his family, and learned the trade of a huntsman. He was dedicated to this education, and by the age of fourteen years was dubbed an able hunter by his father. Chanuah was born to Lana and Aeran, and has two brothers, Shakta and Polero. Being the oldest, he bore the biggest burden when it came to hunting and providing, contributing to the tribe. He proved to be a talented Huntsman, and many a beast fell to him. Chanuah had always been dedicated to his patron god, Eywaat, but the events of his Seeking strengthened his faith in the God. He had been sent off on his own, separated from his tribe, left alone to fend for himself, and often in an intensely meditative state, offering praise to Eywaat. It the beginning it was easy for him, operating with his bow, hunting his prey to sustain himself. But after a few days, the solitude and intensity of being all alone wore on him, and he slacked. He grew tired and weak, teetering on the brink. He was nearly lost, barely doing anything more than pull himself through the burning sand, starving. He felt he would die alone in the desert, with no witness. But then an omen bore down on him, in the form of a glossy black crow. It clutched in it's claws a dead mammal, and dropped the fresh kill before him. Before the bird flew, Chanuah could hear the bird cawing, delivering it's message "You will be greeted by much hardship in your life... and you must learn to embrace your brother crows to over come it." henceforth, Chanuah knew he had been spoken to by the god Eywaat himself. The chanting bird was very cryptic, but he was thankful for the life sustaining kill it bestowed upon him. Using the last of his energy, he stoked a small fire and cooked the creature as best he could, finally consuming the flesh half raw. He made it back to the tribe later that day. His physical exhaustion would fade, but the prophecy would not. The words were very clear, yet also very cryptic. Chanuah |

Lore & Languages Lore
(A Note on "Fighting Evasively": In combat, Chanuah relies on one weapon in close quarters: His tomahawk. This means he does not have much surface area to block with, so he has learned over time to evade attacks instead of intercept them. I treat this more as a mindset than as a skill, hence the lore.)
