Surtinak

Postby Surtinak on August 1st, 2011, 5:01 am

Name: Surtinak

Race: Nuit

Birthday: Spring 28,477 AV

Gender: Male

Physical Description:
Surtinak, being a Nuit, doesn’t necessarily have a fixed physical body. He does prefer the body of an Akalak, since he was an Akalak himself before becoming a Nuit. However, Akalak bodies are rare, and Sahovan Palsa Hydrasa usually stocks only human bodies.

Surtinak’s current body is that of a small, rather tweedy looking human. The human had black hair, the darkest of brown eyes, dimples on cheeks, and pale skin. But that was in life. In death, the human’s hair is dirty and uncombed. The eyes are accentuated with thick bags, making it look dead (which of course it was). The dimples, though still there, are all but invisible since Nuits rarely laugh. The pale skin was still present, and now much, much paler. His tongue had also turned black, as is normal of the vessel of a Nuit.

Character Concept:
Surtinak is a rather unsavory character. His goal in unlife is to become a master of magecraft, spreading his wondrous creations around Mizhar for the betterment of his own purse. All he really wants is easy street. It is his belief that magic exists to do things than the man doesn’t want to do. He started Malediction, not because he wanted to create wondrous pieces of magic, but because it was in his opinion the easiest way to make money off of magic.. He is also something of a compulsive gambler and has been known to waste a whole lot of money on the pastime.

History:
Pre-Creation:
Suritnak was born in Riverfall, the home of the mighty Akalak warriors. But he was a very bad Akalak. Whereas his brothers and sisters enjoyed nothing more than playing and fighting in the great outdoors, he enjoyed activities of a more cerebral nature. He didn’t see the value in banging bits of steel against each other or scuffling around in the mud like some dogs fighting over a piece of meat. He was more interested in the manipulation of djed, though there was no way to learn while stuck in Riverfall. He got through his Rite of Trial by relying on other, more athletic and talented Akalak in his group. At 30, when he was ready for the Rite of Manhood, he ran away from Riverfall. He departed his hometown with only his horse, a bag of food, and some money.

Once he had reached Syliras, he immediately tried to make his way to the library. He kept trying to make his way for a few hours until he realized that there wasn’t a single library in the entire uncultured city. The closest thing was a small, dirty bookshop, called The Undeniable Interest. There, he bought a few books, and started to learn the secrets of manipulating djed. He didn’t make too much progress on his own. Through his readings, he learnt about the undead research isle of Sahova. After a long while of attempting and failing to truly understand the mysteries of djed through the texts of the store, Suritnak made his long journey to Sahova. On the way to Sahova, at Sunberth, Surtinak lost almost all his money through gambling and was forced to sell his horse and books.

When he reached Sahova, he started to learn how the place worked. The Rank system and the importance of the research. After some consideration, he decided that he would become a Nuit himself. Appealing to Zarick Mashaen, the Archwizard and ruler of the island, he was killed and transformed into a Sahovan Nuit. He started to learn the craft of Malediction while living on the island, picking it up from the masters that worked there. He was a man who always kept his head about him. Literally, he kept his original skull, that of the Akalak he once was, in the hopes that his heritage could be worth something.

Greetings, Surtinak, and Welcome to Mizahar!

I am Avant Garde and I am what's known here at Mizahar as a Character Sheet Liaison. My job is to help others with their Character Sheets by making sure they are correct and prepping them for playing. Here I noticed a couple of things in your Character Sheet that need some tweaking.

First and foremost is a detail of your History. At the age of 15, Akalak boys undergo the Rite of Trial. There is no putting the trial off until the age of 30. They train until they grow to be 15, and if they make it that far, they go into the Rite of Trial, in which they must slay a Glassbeak. Perhaps you meant at the age of 30 he ran away before undergoing the Rite of Manhood, in which he must slay a Zith?

Secondly, you forgot your languages! You're allowed to have three languages (Fluent, Basic, and Poor), and though they are not required, they are certainly highly recommended. I suggest you list them as Common (Fluent), Tukant (Basic) the language of the Akalak your Nuit once was, and a third of your choice that you think will come in handy for when you begin threading.

And lastly, there is no such library located anywhere in Syliras.

Everything else looks good so far, Surtinak! Please make the mentioned adjustments to your Character Sheet and you'll be thread-ready! Thank you for your compliance, and I bid you a grand welcome to Mizahar! Feel free to message me with any further questions/comments/concerns.
