Having just received about 20 lbs of iron in from a local mine and distributor, Cryos looked at it, and picked it up with his left arm, easily moving it over towards where the forge was. Unwrapping the bars of Iron, he looked over each and every one of them carefully, making sure they were in top condition for what he was going to do. Daggers, he thought, and each bar of iron was about 1 lb each. He'd hopefully be able to create the daggers, and then sell them to the local shop, at a higher price than what he had purchased the iron for. His thought process was this, that if he had purchased each of the single pound iron bars for about five silver mizas, then he could create about twenty daggers, and sell each of them for about 2 gold mizas. This would allow him to make about thirty golden mizas profit off of the daggers he was crafting. That worked for him, it would put food on the table, and give him a bit more experience in weaponsmithing.
Taking the first bar of iron, Cryos was prepared to get started right away on the creation of these daggers. They would be crude, as he wasn't the best weaponsmith, but they would be efficient, and usable. He'd see what he could get out of the local weaponshop out of their creation. So, he lit his forge, and began to heat it up. As he was taking the time to heat it up, he took one of the iron bars, and began to look it over for blemishes, or any inefficiencies that might hinder his creation of a dagger out of it. It seemed clean enough. So, he placed it within the forge once it was heated up, and began to heat the bar of iron up as well. Once it was red hot, he'd take it out using his left arm, and began to hammer it flat so that he would start to form a blade upon it.
In this fashion he would draw out the blade, making it longer, and thinner, while expanding the width. Iron was heavy as it is, so these wouldn't be ribbon daggers or anything of the like, just merely regular daggers. As he hammered it out, he would then work upon each side of the blade, making it thinner, as it went towards the outside of the blade, so that the middle of the blade was thicker. Concentrating upon his work, he would make the blades about 6 inches long, and the handle about 3 and a half inches long. So the total length of the dagger would be nine and a half inches long. This would work for him, and he'd finish the six inch blade, cooling it in the water next to the anvil to harden the metal.
Next he would heat up the handle of the dagger, and begin to use the process of shrinking in order to make the handle of the dagger thicker, as well as give it a curvature to make it cylindrical. Once that was finished, he'd take the dagger and dip the handle in the water to cool it off and harden the iron up as well. Smiling, he then went over to the grinder, and began to grind the blade down even further in order to shine it up, and then sharpen up either edge of the blade. Once it was looking fairly shiny, and fairly sharp, Cryos decided that it was a completed dagger, and held it by the handle looking at it carefully, inspecting it for blemishes and whatnot. And of course there happened to be a few blemishes, much to Cryos' dismay as he viewed it with a diligent eye.
It was crude by all means, and Cryos knew it. He probably wouldn't be able to see much of the weapons he was making, but that didn't bother him, the more practice he got, the better he would be at it, and would more than likely soon enough be able to sell his wares, weapons, and armor.
