Appearance: Emarus always prefers a human body and he almost always keeps some manner of eloquently trimmed facial hair. He has a habit, more than any other of the Nuits of Sahova, to surround himself with material wealth which leads to him usually being adorned by many gold rings and silver necklaces with big studded gems on them. He only wears the finest finery and carries himself with an air of nobility.
Personality: As stuck up as stuck up in Sahova gets. He views everyone using the Common Labs and Workshops as free loaders. He dishes out punishments and fines liberally for rules he may or may not have just come up with himself. He does, however, have a weakness for gold and material wealth so if you ever find yourself outside of his favour perhaps a little present might find you sidling back in.
History: Emarus was born in Sunberth. A city of poverty and crime. In his youth Emarus dreamt of leaving the city. Leaving the dirty, wretched place behind and pursuing a life of wealth elsewhere. However, fate would not let him leave so easily. On the night of his tenth birthday nothing happened but on the night after, as fate is rarely as dramatic as making events occur exactly on your birthday, his mother was killed and his home was burned to the ground.
He was taken by his mother's attacker. A strange, old man that Emarus found it impossible to disagree with. The man was a Master Hypnotist and had, apparently, been looking around for a slave. His own mother had agreed to sell Emarus to him for a hefty sum but instead of parting with his gold he killed her instead and took Emarus anyway.
So Emarus travelled with the old man for many years. He learned the man was a trickster, a con artist, and a Nuit too. A former apprentice of Grombard Shrag the man had realised his hypnotic talents could be used elsewhere for greater profit and so had left Sahova. As Emarus grew the old man saw some talent in him so he started to involve the youngster in his cons - He even initiated the boy into Hypnotism and Auristics.
This lasted for many years but the Old Man had never contemplated one simple fact. Sahova always collects. One does not simply go to Sahova, leech their magical knowledge and leave to pursue your own wealth. One night the Old Man were visited by Farke himself. The Nuit responsible for all those who leave Sahova without permission. Farke killed the old man with ease and Emarus, still sore about his mother's death, just watched it happen. Perhaps this is why Farke allowed him to live. Emarus never truly found out why the Nuit rounded up all the gold Emarus had acquired with his cons and simply left without dealing with him. Emarus did, however, receive a note the next day telling him when the next ship out to Sahova was calling at port. Emarus, with precious little to live for any more and fearing that continuing his master's work would cause the scary Nuit to come back, got on the boat and began his life in Sahova.
The rest, as they say, is history.
