Past the Gathering of the Queens there is a dark tunnel from which the only sounds that are heard are screams. This is the entry to the Queen’s Lair, home to the Queen Snhamtanabis of Zinrah. It is a name which both inspires and instills fear, and this is her lair. Within these halls the Queen is provided with the utmost comfort, protection, and entertainment. The Queen’s Lair is in some ways a microcosm of Zinrah as a whole. Through the tunnel there is a grand chamber typically used for private meetings as the Queen sees fit which houses the Queen’s throne. The chamber links all sub-rooms including a personal chamber for her nest and private steam bath. A fresh spring flows through her cavern as well. Several other springs and other, smaller rooms are also present should Tanabis ever start a family. The chamber itself is furnished with luxury goods dating back to Maskevesshna’s reign. Between the city’s winding tunnels, treacherous terrain, and hungry Dhani in Zinrah, the Queen’s Lair is under the utmost protection. The city’s hidden entrances serves as a first level of security, followed by the maze of tunnels leading to Zinrah’s primary chamber. The Queen’s Lair is nested far back in the network to give the Queen time to plan and act. Several of the Queen’s most trusted attendants and consorts are welcomed as guards as well. Within the lair itself there are rumored to be hidden tunnels if the Queen ever felt it necessary to use them. While the Queen might find amusement in singing and dancing, celebrations being held in her personal chamber, and so on, there are other means of entertainment the Queen finds use of. Among the sub-chambers of the Queen’s lair is yet another tunnel leading off to a personal torture room. Binds and “toys” of the sorts found all around for the Queen to play with. It is from here that the screams come from, echoing against the hard, jagged rock back into Zinrah’s heart. To venture there once is an act of mercy, but to be called back again is most certainly a death sentence. A smaller scaled shrine in Siku’s honor is also housed within the Queen’s Lair for her personal reflection and meditation.
