Reaching out she let her fingertips lightly brush against his elbow, the corner of her mouth turned up. He gave his name and she tried to think of how next to play the game. That’s what it felt like to her, a game. That he was the prey and she was the predator. She couldn’t do as she did when hunting and chase wildly after the prey, she had to go slow and coax it to her. Unsure of exactly how to do that she tried to figure out what her next move should be.
What had she done last time? She tried to revisit their last encounter after the introductions and the memory was hazy. The feeling of need was vibrant but the actions themselves were unmemorable.
“It’s nice to meet you… Aider.” She separated his name trying to give it more meaning, letting him know that she was going to remember it, it was slightly awkward but she hoped that it still gave the intent. Heart beating hard in her chest with anxiety of wanting to impress Matthew, even with her lack of skill, she brushed against Aider’s side as she slipped her arm into his. “What brings you out this evening? A drink at the bar? A beautiful woman perhaps?” Tucking a piece of fallen hair behind her ear she looked out of the corner of her eye at him, trying to judge his reaction. Her golden eyes watched his and then skimmed his jaw line and wandered to his lips. She wanted to have him catching her watching him and hoped that he would.
A tongue darted quickly, wetting her lips and then she looked away. Not wanting to come off too strongly even though she was sure she seemed awkward and slightly unsure. She was going to need a lot more practice at this if she was going to be able going anywhere useful in this line of business. She didn’t mind that she’d have to do favors but wondered if there was more to what Matthew had said. Could it be as simple as only going on a date with someone?
Waiting on Aider’s next move she tried to plan hers, what else could she do to entice him? If he answered she’d laugh softly and give him a big smile, focus her attention on him and make him feel that he was what she wanted. If he didn’t respond to her hint that he might be out looking for her then she try to come up with another witty response. Her next move depended on how he would react.
