Personality
Gemmei is a woman with a warm and openhearted personality. She's friendly to anyone, except when they mention etching. If there is one thing she hates, it's etching. In her eyes it's a craft that doesn't require any skill. Just put some stuff on the metal and then throw on the acid; done.
Despite having a fourth of Isur blood in her, she is friendly. Her vision on life is that everyone is equal, Isur, human and any other race. Treat another well and they'll treat you well in return. Yet one thing she doesn't do is lie. Even if it's a lie to please another, she won't do that. She also doesn't hide her intentions, this could be part of the inarta blood in her.
One of her bad traits is that she is a perfectionist and a really extreme one at that. She can go totally crazy if she can't deliver work the way she sees it. It must be perfect, just like the customer wants it, or what she thinks the customer wants. If it doesn't go the way she wants, she can totally lose it. But she will never stay angry for long, because she just loves to create new things. However, she is very competitive. If you challenge her, she will not let it slide. She'll face any challenge head on and she'll go to any lengths, without directly sabotaging the other, to achieve victory.
History
Gemmei was born from a mixed blood father, half Inarta and half Isur, and a human mother. She enjoyed a great youth in Ravok. Not showing any really redeeming features belonging to her father's inheritance, she was never victim of pestering or racism. As she grew up, she always hang out around the crafts people. All those people just seemed so intriguing. They were able to create so many great items. What particularly drew her attention was carving. It was just unfathomable that removing stuff could actually make an item. Her parents noticed this and signed her up for an apprenticeship, where she quickly soaked up all knowledge the carver had. Not until she became 20, did she find out that carving was not just applicable to wood or jewelry, but also to metal. Yet for this different tools were required. Mostly self-teaching her, she learned how to engrave. Her hatred towards etching came around her 29th birthday. Someone made fun of her engravings, saying that he could do much better by etching. Being competitive, she wouldn't let this slide of course. In the end, the guy did a better job with the same design. He called her engraving crude and childish, before leaving. Gemmei worked furiously on her skills since then. She wanted to become better. She wanted to shut every single etcher's mouth ever since. ”I'll become the best. I'll create designs so delicate that no etcher will ever be able to reproduce them.”, she vowed.
She continues to try to improve herself, having having even opened up her own shop. Her designs are getting more and more detailed, where the details are getting smaller and more in number with each passing season.
