Considered one of the most mysterious cities in Mizahar, Alvadas is called The City of Illusions. It is the home of Ionu and the notorious Inverted. This city sits on one of the main crossroads through The Region of Kalea.

Season of Summer, Day 49, 511 AV

With the warmth of Alvadas during this season Vhanet had finally ventured out into the streets without her fur cloak. It was so delightful, the first time she had been without the garment since leaving Ahnatep, and the freedom had put her in an exceptionally good mood. Such a good mood that she wanted to share it with someone, and so had taken to the streets of Alvadas to find someone new to play with.

Maybe she'd run into a familiar face, but she hoped to find someone new. Most familiar faces in Alvadas she was already in some form of relationship, good or bad, and as happy as she was she wanted the thrill of starting a new game.

Vhanet's face held a bright and eager smile as she gazed about with her dark eyes, and her feet moved quickly down the surprisingly bland dirt street that her wanderings had brought her to. Now all she needed was someone interesting looking, or to take an interest in her.

Bones was once more heading out for a walk among the city. He often went around for a bit out of the wild, especially after a good hunt.

He had just recently had a good meal, and had just finished digesting it, and so was ready for a walk about. He never knew were he would end up, the city often changed, and did not stay the same even when you were in it. It seemed to have a mind of its own, and did as it pleased.

Sometimes that was good, as for him it tended to bring him were he should be at, or were it was good for him to go. Though sometimes it just brought him were it thought he should be. He tended to take such things in stride, and went were it wanted him to go.

If you just let it run free, things worked out much better, and it tended to help you out if you did not fight it. However that might just be Bones' world view on it... He seemed to be a bit more laid back and philosophical than most...

With his normal neutral face, he walked along. However as he darted out his tongue for a moment, he tasted something... Familiar... Not quite the same, but there was a bit that he knew... And he could not mistake the taste of a dhani on the air, even if it was not the exact type he knew from home.

His face darted over, with his silver eyes locking onto a woman, which was the source... She was much smaller than him, a wee five foot tall, with him being over six foot... But still... She was a dhani, it was unmistakable...

"You.... you are one of usss... Here... In sse sssame place asss me..."

Finally deciding to head out on my own, I continue my journey to the great city of illusions, Alvadas! Oh, how delightful a prospect! A city built upon deception and tricks, just how wonderful! I simply can't wait! Upon viewing the soft ethereal lights of the place my head simply filled with wonder, I couldn't wait to enter, so I ran. Ran as fast as I could to the entrance of such a place.
I wondered what I would even find here, I wasn't armed with much money nor food, and I knew nobody. But still! Who cares? I'm on my own, and I am free! Free to play my games with anyone I come across, and wonder, maybe I'll find a few more Dhani. Maybe a viper, maybe a constrictor. Possibly even one of those hideous ape creatures.
Well, oh well! I'm here, and I'll find things eventually. I even arranged to buy a house here before even visiting, I just found the premise of such a city to be simply magical.
I'd heard many things of this city, from some, it was called a dark, foggy place of nightmares, while others regarded it as someplace bright and wonderful.
So, I guess that varies from person to person then? Such an interesting place.
Dancing along the streets I kept my eyes out for anything seemingly interesting, though i was mainly hoping for another person of my race to pop up so I could have at least one thing in common right off the bat.
Singing a light tune, I spun with a whimsical grace down the streets of the city when out of the corner of my eye, I spotted two people talking.
One male, one female.
I looked them both up and down and something seemed off, I abruptly stopped moving when I heard the male speak.
With a clear Dhani accent, a very tall, very masculine man he was. Obviously a constrictor. He seemed to have spoken a greeting to the little female, she appeared to be a viper, though looks could be deceiving as my own build looks like that of a viper's. Just....I simply am way too tall. That's what gives me away most of the time.
A constrictor. A viper. And now me, a rattler! What are the odds that all three of the Dhani sub races somehow meet up within the great stone walls of the same city?
Oh, I simply hope that silly subracial biases are shed. We're all Dhani.
I stepped and I spun over to the pair, landing nicely.
"Oh, the three of usss...We're all Dhani, aren't we? What a sssilly coinssidensse, yesss? To meet up within the same wallsss..." I said in a simple, soft tone. My accent is heavier than the average Dhani's, too, but it somehow sounds graceful while being simultaneously sickening. My hazy light blue eyes shifted between the two, not focusing on either one, but looking at them both evenly. The male was well built and nice looking, and the female was very slim, very pretty.

As seemed to happen frequently in Alvadas what Vhanet ended up coming across was certainly not what she expected to find when she had started her day. Not one, but apparently two fellow Dhani, appearing at the same time. Briefly she wondered if perhaps it was some illusion, perhaps Ionu, but she could not feel the God's touch here. It seemed these two were genuine, if a bit brash and bumbling in their sudden approach. Judging by the man's height and build he was certainly not a Viper, but the woman could possibly be. If she was a Viper then she was a silly one, with the way she pranced about. Regardless of what they were she could still have some fun with them though.

Widening her eyes in a show of nervousness she took half a step back from the pair as she used her mark from Ionu to create an illusion over her words, "I'm sorry," her illusionary voice trembled with just a slight hint of fear, and no trace of a Dhani accent, "I think you must be mistaken. I don't know what a Dhani is, but are they supposed to talk like you?" she gave a nervous swallow as she took another nervous step back, "You... You sound like you're snakes of some kind..."

She was curious if they would take the bait. Would they try to just drive her off, playing on her fear, or would they been drawn to that fear like Vhanet would? Would they try to hunt her, chasing her through the streets as brashly as they had approached her? It was hard for Vhanet to contain her shiver of excitement as she waited to see what they would do.

Bones looked at the woman with his odd silver eyes. For a moment he stared at the woman, looking her over. Then he darted his tongue out without thinking, tasting the air.

No... This was certainly a dhani.... He could tell the scent on the air... He had grown up around it for over a century... And he knew it by know... Though he oddly did not taste any fear.

He pondered this for a second more... Not in any particular hurry at the moment... Then he let out a short hissy chuckle, along with a grin... Which was more creepy than of joy... Bones had never gotten that normal human expression down... So it looked more like a grimace...

And this other dhani? What are the odds? How would they end up in the same spot? He could only think of one explanation... The city had brought them together... It had been oddly quiet today, not messing with him... So it must have been saving up for this...

Bones realized that this city was a living sentient thing... With its own will, and bringing things were it thought they out to be... Just as alive as the forests from back home...

"Ah... Sssure... Whatever you sssay... Ssough I don't think you quite have fear down, you need to get the juicesss leaking like humansss do when ssey are in fear..."

He said this only loud enough for The first woman to hear, and was ignoring the newcomer for the second. He could address her later....

Postby Centari on August 23rd, 2011, 4:53 am

Centari had been walking with no real intention, her long mass of hair curled in a knot behind her head that would make a Drykas proud, considering a Drykas barmaid had been the one to do it. Spiraling horns lifted from her temples, which in uniform with her skin shimmered a rosy color reminiscent of coppery gold. Simple garb adorned her frame, but not sandals. Centari had the intention of being out past sunset for some well-needed hunting and sandals would have been an unnecessary hindrance that would prove trying for her to deal with. Lately, the Ethaefal had no patience with even the simplest, most mundane of things.

Citrine eyes, as bright as a candle and almost neon in their glow, settled upon a small trio of people, one of which who wasn't small at all.

A man stood there, with a willow of a woman, and a familiar petite form that Centari wouldn't forget anywhere. That lovely little bitch of a woman. Just looking at her could sway Centari's plans to another day to allot time for some intimacies with this human. She had missed the chance for some fun and games the only other time she had glimpsed the girl, and she had felt disappointed from it. Expectations had been low due to the fluctuating nature of the aptly named 'City of Illusion'. Now, Lhex had won out over Ionu and had presented her with a woman she had desired the moment she had first set eyes upon her, whether for simple pleasure or for something more devious and amusing.

But then she heard something fantastic, and her attention diverted to the unfortunate couple with the speech impairment. Dhani they had called themselves, like idiots. What was Alvadas but a zoo for those bereft of common sense? Two Dhani waltzing in Alvadas proclaiming their enviable abilities for all to hear. Still... As much as Centari would love to tell them both how utterly retarded they were, she had to play nice. Dhani were known to eat people.

"Tsk, tsk... Are you two thieves bothering this poor little woman?" She asked in a polite, lilting, mocking voice. As she spoke she circled behind the woman, one hand on her Lash in warning to the others, graceful in motion like the being she was at night. Her eyes were not lit with djed yet. The embrace of magic had to be extended carefully in a group. These people would be able to break the illusion of the eyes as soon as one was left aware and awake. "Why don't you snake people be nice and leave me and my friend here? I am certain you wouldn't wish to cause a ssscene." She mocked the man in the end, drawing out the sibilant 's' like it was steam from an overheated kettle. A small smirk tweaked her pale coral lips, gilded by the shimmer of rosy gold in Syna's gaze.

I stared at the woman, even though she could mask her accent, she clearly was Dhani. It was in her scent, the very look of the girl made it unmistakable. I'd grown up for over a hundred years with my own kind, I know one when I see one, and she wasn't fooling anybody.
Though...I must wonder why she can mask her accent, or why she would even desire to, for that matter. She tried to portray a little bit of fear on her face as she spoke, too, but it didn't look proper; not in the same pathetic style humans did.
Moments later, the male Dhani tried to laugh and give a little grin -- he didn't seem to have proper grasp of that facial expression, either, and it was kind of adorable, but at this moment, I don't care. I'm more interested in the girl, and why she would mask her identity.
Is it for some stupid game?
The man murmured something to the other girl, I wasn't paying attention and he said it quietly; I didn't hear him.
I still stood there, doing nothing, not responding. I kind of wanted to see what those around me would do.
And then another actress joined the show! This one of a race I had only seen in pictures, Ethaefal. She walked up and spoke, spoke with this silly mocking tone; trying to uphold the other Dhani's illusion, or maybe she'd actually fallen for it. Silly creature. Her final word she had drawn out her 's', mocking the Dhani accent.
Still, I suppose I could pretend she has me fooled, or I could address the other lady. Options, options...
"My dear lady, ssief I am not...Sshe before me doesssn't even look ssat wealssy...I sssimply wanted sssomessthing to do.." I said, ignoring the first girl's initial response, and paying the man no heed. I planned on speaking to both of them later, unless of course they do nothing to provoke any kind of response from me. Because then...there's no point, is there?

Postby Belaya Smert on August 25th, 2011, 3:26 am

Belaya walked around the city aimlessly, enjoying the way no two streets looked the same, no matter how long he walked. Once he had seen what looked like a familiar face, but before he could recognize it the moment had passed and he had lost it among the crowd. Taking a side street, he saw the Wolf's Cave and Miro's house on the same street. Unusual, but then again, everything about Alvadas was unusual. As he came out onto the other side of the side street, he found himself on a large thoroughfare with few people going in either direction.

Turning right found him looking at a huge fountain, shaped like a wolf with a scar over it's left eye. It's me. I wonder why Alvadas led me to this? Looking to the left, he saw a group of four speaking heatedly, but about what he knew not. Trying to be stealthy so he could hear without interrupting, he walked slowly towards the big one, so that his bulk blocked the eyesight of the others. He then tripped over a loose stone in the road, letting out a startled "Yipe!" as he face-planted into the road. Brushing himself off, he softly said "Uh... Hi."

Bones looked around, and noticed there was quite a crowd growing around... What had started as one other person, and moved on to more... Was know far to many....

Quietly Bones would excuse himself, and sidle over out of the way. He was not really comfortable with that many people, and quickly left before anyone else showed up...

Why were there even that many to begin with?

He did not check to see if he was followed, he just wanted to get off a bit by himself...

oocYeah, way to many people in here now for Bones...

Now this was a strange gathering in the streets. Alvadas was not known for trust among its people. So how is it there can be a big gathering in the middle of the street? Either they shared a true bond or this was a premonition of trouble.

Keido had to know more about how their society worked. And what better way than to insert himself into a group of them? With a spring in his step he headed over to the group. Narrowly getting out of the path of one of the men who broke off.

"Hello there. Everything is alright here I hope?"

Actually here in Alvadas, Keido had nothing to speak of. No name, rank or position of his own. Even back in Syliras he has lost it all. But this was one of the methods he had seen knights trying to get into groups of strangers so it should be a proper method for him to use here as well.
Keido is now dead as of 34th of Fall, 511 AV (16th of September, 2011). I will do my best to finish all existing threads before I retire him so people with him right now don't worry.
