Enlightenment/Spiritual Gurus/Monastic orders.

Postby Matthial on September 1st, 2011, 10:43 pm

Hello all!

Im currently doing a massive re-write of Matthial to reflect some changes in his life, when I got to thinking. Now, without getting too heavy into beliefs and religion here IRL, I was curious if Mizahar had spiritual guru's, teachers, monks, etc. who where working towards enlightenment?

In comparison, lets look at early India. During a particuarly nasty era of war, spiritual gurus and teachers roamed the lands each preaching a different way to spiritual or mental enlightenment. Mizahar has a very distinct and visible set of gods, but I was wondering if the same kind of thoughts and ideas might apply in mizahar. Say in Lahvit, or under worshippers of Eyris?

Is that too far outside the traditional Mizahar setting? Am I overlooking something obvious? I didn't see anything specific in the lore. That being said, Im terrible at searching wikis for broad terms like that.

Thoughts would be appreciated. :)

Hi Matthial,

In Endrykas, religion seems to be pretty relaxed and casual. But depending on where Matthial goes, he might find something like you're talking about. The Knights of Syliras are an order devoted to the Windoak, Tyveth, and a few other gods. The Black Sun and the Ebonstryfe for Rhysol... Viratas in Kalinor and Denval. Denval even worships Aquiras despite his centuries long nap! Basically you have to choose a god and a location for a lot of them.

There's so much room for this type of thing its not even funny. Player driven initiatives would be cool. Storyteller plots would also be great. Start your own cult and become your own Guru if you'd like. Or join others who have similar causes.

I think that no matter where you go you'll find something relating to what you want.
However, starting your own like Goss suggested would be awesome too.
If you have a place in mind for Matt, why not drop the DS a message and enquire?

Thanks for the replies all! Alot of good info. I was just curious if it fit with the setting in general, since Gods seem to be pretty commonplace. :)

Well that answers my questions. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

And if you want to set up your own thing in Kalea, but not within a city, feel free to contact me about that too. The Unforgiving is, well, unforgiving, but we might be able to find him a defensible spot from which to develop some sort of Order. :)
