Night Watch

Timestamp: Summer 55, 511 AV

Night watch... First of all, watch duty was boring just as it is, but to be put on night watch? And for the third time in ten days!? Was the Valintar just punishing her for getting knocked up? Sira sighed in surrender, pulling off her shirt and tossing it into the cloth sack with the rest of her clothes. I wonder if I'll have company this time, she thought to herself. The last two times she had been alone for most of the night. Sira walked over to the door then glanced back at the bed and the sleeping Endal bundled within the covers. She considered waking Addy, but the woman needed her sleep. Aside from her work as an Endal, Addy was a healer as well and so basically she had two jobs. Whenever possible Sira tried to let Addy rest, and forcing her to come on watch duty with her just seemed cruel. "Sleep tight, my love," Sira whispered as she walked out the door.

She crossed the common room to another door, pausing as she reached to grasp the handle. Her mind called out in a mental whisper, Catabasis? May I come through? When she heard no objection Sira opened the door, nodding to the wind eagle as she passed and walked to the edge of the aerie. The kelvic dropped her bag on the ground next to her and in a swirl of light and smoke she shifted into her wind eagle form. Sorry if I woke you. Enjoy your rest. Grasping the bag in her talons, Sira launched from the aerie and into the sky. She took her time, drifting lazily over the darkened landscape, but she didn't have far to go and all too soon she arrived at the Lookout.

Sira landed on the stone walkway and shifted back to her human form, picking her bag and heading up the stairs inside. When she reached the common room she glanced around but found it empty. If anyone else was going to be with her, they hadn't arrived yet. Lazily, she pulled back on her clothes and went out back outside, walking the stone pathway surrounding the enclosure. As she looked out over the valley and toward the bay, all appeared well. This brought another sigh to her lips, and Sira headed back inside. Resting her arms on a window facing the bay Sira stood watch, waiting with very little hope that anything interesting would actually happen.

OOCJust a warning, unless you have some method of getting to the lookout, it's unlikely any non-endal will he able to join this thread. Sorries

[The Lookout] Night Watch (Open)

Postby Renol on August 17th, 2011, 12:42 am

Edit NotesSo I had forgotten what the Lookout was set up like, so I needed to do a little editing on the landing and such.

Renol's eyes were closed as his fingers worked through his hair gently, his hands deftly working the three different tails of separated hair into one long braid that ran down past his shoulder blades. He finished off the last portion of it before tying the end of it with a strip of black fabric. He didn't even bother opening his eyes as the room which he sat in was dark anyway. Once his hair was finished, he stood, gathering the clothes that he had placed on his bed and finished dressing himself, getting ready for the night watch.

His mind wandered as he finished readying himself for the shift, wandering over all the things that had happened in the past. Over everything that had kept him from his duties for so long. The injury during his last hunt that had seen him unable to do much more than walk, let alone take a decent ride or go out on any hunts. It had taken his body longer than expected to heal propperly. No one really knew why, but it had just taken time. It was only in the recent weeks that he had really been able to more around with ease, getting his stride back to where it had been, being able to run and jump like he used to. He still had a bit of a limp to his stride, though, as he walked around the room, not needing any light to navigate. He knew it all like the back of his hand. He even knew exactly where each small pile of clothes were littered across the floor currently. He wanted to ensure that his night vision was as good as possible for the watch shift, so he wasn't about to light any lights. Once he was ready, he made his way out of the bedroom, across the living area. He stopped at the door to his aerie, closing his eyes once more as he quickly opened the mental ling with Fereo," So, whadda ya say? One more time tonight and then we'll take a break?" He could feel the frustration of the bird as he sat int he other room. Ever since Renol had gotten injured, the bird had seemed to have constantly been frustrated with him about it. Renol was hoping that the bird would forgive him soon now that he was back and able to ride full time again. T

he eagle spoke back in a dull tone, Well, As long as I get to get some good sleep afterwards. it's your fault we got put on night shift, you know that, right? Getting yourself wounded and but on the back line. Renol sighed deeply as he opened the door stepping into the birds nesting room," Don't you think I know that? You think I wanted this to happen? Petch..." His voice trailed off, defeated for a second," What was I supposed to do? If I hadn't tried to stop that monster of a bear, we might all have been dead. Who knows what would have happened. It might have crushed us all under the tents, looking for another meal before he went off to hunt." The eagle looked to him as he entered the room I suppose. I'm sure there had to have been another way to go about it instead of almost getting your leg ripped off your body. Renol walked over to him, slowly working on putting the saddle on the bird," I guess we'll never know. Just be happy that the leg stayed attached. You can thank Addy and the rest of them for that, you know." Fereo sighed inwardly as his rider finished rigging the saddle on.

A few minutes later and the large eagle burst from his Aerie, off into the dark sky with powerful blasts from his wings as he ascended into the night sky. Renol smiled as he felt the cold night air bite at his face and hands as he looked around, his braid flipping in teh wind behind him as Fereo gained speed with each flap. The rider's katinu was wrapped tightly around his body with his long bow strapped to his back and his sword strapped to his side. He was going to make sure he was in top shape for this watch. As they climbed higher, climbing upward in large, sweeping circles toward the night watch post, Renol wondered who all else was going to be on this watch. He hadn't really taken a look at the roster when he had been told he was on watch for the night, he just knew it would be good to get out and get some kind of duties again.

After a short while, the massive eagle came to a landing on the short landing area, a few quick hops from the eagle helping to slow itself as it touched down. Renol picked himself up out of the saddle and slipped off down onto the floor below the bird. As he stood, he looked around to the only other soul who was there already. Slowly, Renol lead the way up toward the massive doors of te common room. It was too dark for Fereo to go hunting, and he had already eaten for the night, so the eagle just wanted to rest. Renol opened the large door, stepping back as he did so that Fereo could enter the enclosure first. Renol stepped in anfter and pulled the door shut behind him. Both the eagle and the rider surveyed the room quickly, finding the only other soul there are at the moment.

He was pretty sure the woman's name was Sira. He didn't really know a whole lot about her, to tell the truth. He knew that her and Addy were an item, or something like that, but that was about it... But that would probably be remedied after the watch. After all, it was usually really petching boring, so they'd get plenty of time to talk. Renol wished that there were some things to do up here while on watch, but then again, it wouldn't really help in the darkness. So, he quickly bowed his head to Sira," A good evening to you. I guess we're going to be on watch together." He righted himself once more, a slight smirk on his face. Fereo bowed his head to the woman for a fraction of a second before moving over to one of the multiple bedding and nesting himself in comfortably.

Unlike Renol, Sira had not come prepared for anything. She didn't have her bow or her sword. She wasn't even wearing shoes. In truth, Renol was lucky (or he might think it unlucky) that she had brought clothing with her at all. As a kelvic she could get away with being naked, especially when she had expected to be on watch duty all alone yet again. But she was dressed anyway, and when she spotted the dark form of an eagle coming down from the mountain she waved in greeting. Her mind instinctively linked with Fereo when she spotted him and she offered a mental greeting, Hello Fereo, her mental voice called out to the eagle, It's good to see you with rider again. Sira's familiarity with the eagles was far more expansive than with their riders. She knew the majority of the eagles by name, even if they did not interact often, but Fereo and his rider she knew of a bit more. Especially Renol, who had played an important role in keeping Addy alive several seasons ago. Sira had heard the story many times, and so she held a special respect for the man even though she had never actually met him.

When they landed Sira waved again. Though she did not have night vision, her eyes were still much keener than a human's even in the dark, and just because she had spotted them didn't mean he had seen her when she waved. "It'll be good to have some company out here for a change. Come on inside. I just did a round, so I think we can sit for a moment." Sira watched him approach. She could see the limp in his step. He still wasn't fully healed, but he was nearly there. It was good to see a rider come back from an injury like that, and a testament to the bond that his eagle had stuck by his side throughout the entire ordeal. Any who doubted the strength of the relationship between eagle and rider need only look at Renol and Fereo.

Sira went inside, taking a seat near a window overlooking Thunder Bay. Unfortunately the watch was usually filled with hours of boring nothingness. Thank the goddess she had someone to help keep her occupied for the night. More than once she had fallen asleep on watch, but luckily nothing had happened during those times so she didn't feel to bad. Assuming Renol followed her inside, Sira would motion for him to sit. She hadn't bothered lighting any torches or candles, the moon was out and it was enough for her. Sira watched him as he walked, wondering how horrible it must have been not to be able to get around. Once he had himself situated Sira leaned back and stretched, glancing out the window and spotting nothing of interest. Finally she broke the silence again.

"I'm glad you're up and moving again. I wanted to thank you for what you did.. I might not have Addy today if it wasn't for you."

[The Lookout] Night Watch (Open)

Postby Renol on August 18th, 2011, 10:53 pm

oocSorry, apparently my editing slipped up in a few places. I didn’t mean for it to come out like the two of them would be ignoring you or anything, I can fix that up here, though.

Fereo had returned the woman’s greeting to him, a little surprised for a second before he remembered the things he had heard about the kelvic wind eagle who was at Wind Reach. It was easy to put two and two together after that. He had chuckled slightly to himself for a moment as they had banked in for the landing Thank you. It is good to finally meet you. I have heard a bit about you from the other eagles at the mountain. I am sorry that it took so long for us to finally meet.

Upon hopping off of the eagle, Renol waved back to Sira, finally seeing her standing there. He smiled warmly to her as he and his eagle walked toward her,” Thank you for that. I am loath to admit that I can always use a little bit of a rest after a flight. My leg still isn’t what it used to be and it still gets worn out, even after a short ride.” After that, he followed her up into the watch post with Fereo only a step, be it a wind eagle step, behind them. Fereo had settled himself carefully into one of the large nesting spots set aside of the eagles that were on watch with their riders, settling in and taking a few moments to preen himself as he sat there. Renol took a moment and made his way over to the water basin, running a bit of the water from the basin and taking a few large drinks from the frigid liquid that collected in his cupped hands. He looked over to Sira as she spoke once more, smiling a little bit as she mentioned him being back on his feet. He walked over to a seat not too far from her and sat down next to one of the other windows. He signed for a second, thinking back to everything that had happened,” There are many who would say that all I did was aggravate a situation that could have easily been avoided. Who’s to say that if we had just surrendered the food that the beast wouldn’t have just taken it and left?” He shook his head slowly for a moment,” Many times I believe them. If I had just fled to shelter like the others, maybe it would have just gone on its way. All I know is that it was charging after Addy and Sai’, so I had to do something. Whether it was brave of stupid is to be judged by better people than me. I am just glad that, after it was all done, we all survived it. After Kovac’s injury and Addy nearly healing herself to death, it was definitely a close call.”

He looked over out the window again, watching the cloud formations highlighted by the moon as they lingered across the sky, And don’t let the rumors fool you. I’ve been on my feet for a little bit now, just not really getting out of the aerie that much. It’s just hard to do anything useful currently, though. My leg is still petching with me whenever I work it too hard. Especially now that I have been trying to wean myself off of some of the pain medicine that the healers have been giving me. I’m tired of being decrepit after the whole thing. If I stop babying my body, it will have to get better.” Fereo looked to Renol once more I think he’s just being a stubborn petch, you ask me. The medicine is there for a reason. You go hurting yourself more and you won’t like my reaction. I’ll kill you myself and find a new rider with a bigger brain... Renol brushed off the comment with a shake of his head, looking back over to Sira and smiled,” Don’t mind him. But what about Addy, how has she been doing lately? I have heard a little bit about some things between you two. But I fear I am ignorant to all the facts.”

"Siraaaaaa! It's coooold! Will you grab me another fur?" Yes, Addy lived on a volcano and she was cold in the middle of the summer. There was something about the aerie rooms that she shared with her twin and Sira though, that when you opened certain doors during the day and closed them at night, one could trap cool breezes within the stone rooms. Sometimes it backfired, like tonight, leaving Aidara's bedchamber extra chilly. It was the cold that woke the woman from her sleep, when she found herself curled in a shivering ball, alone in her bed in the middle of the night.

Finding Sira gone when she woke never really bothered Addy. The kelvic woman had a different sleep pattern and tended to rise obscenely early. "Sira?" Why wasn't she answering? After rubbing the sleep from her eyes and pushing herself to her elbows, Addy realized that the light shining in under the door was wrong. "Petch! It's like midnight." Tempted to just roll over and go to sleep, the healer knew she wouldn't be able to, no matter how tired she was. Sira was on night duty, and now that Aidara was awake it felt wrong to willingly let her be out there alone. Yes, she was exhausted having to keep up her Endal duties long with her healing ones, but it had been a slow summer at the infirmary; The people of Wind Reach hardly get sick during these months, or don't admit they are. No one wants to be cooped up inside with the gorgeous weather they had. Long story short, she could afford to loose a little sleep tonight.

The floor was oddly warm in contrast to the cool air as Addy scampered across the room to where she had folded her clothes. It was a green vinati and brown bryda that she slipped into; both were of light fabric and very comfortable. It was her favorite ensemble, for the color matched her eyes. Stepping into her sandals, Addy glanced at the pile of furs on her bed, contemplating straightening them and taking one before she left. That was when she realized that her plan was flawed. So used to flying with Sira, Addy hadn't even processed the fact that the kelvic had flown off without her, leaving the woman with no way to get to the Lookout.

Sliding from her room (and leaving the door open, to let the chilly air out) Addy slipped next door to where Sai was asleep. Entering without knocking, she tiptoed over to the side of the bed and gently shook her sister's shoulder "Sai.. Pssst, Sai. Can you ask Catabasis to fly me to The Lookout? Sira left without me... Sai? Sai!" Even raising her voice, her twin didn't wake until Addy stuck a finger into her ear. "What are you doing?" Sai was irritated, of course, as anyone would be if they were woken in that manner. Addy repeated her question and waited for the answer, bouncing on the balls of her feet. "Mm.. Go ask him yourself, I'm trying to sleep. And you better not try that little ear thing with him or he'll bite you in half." Sai was almost asleep again before she even finished her sentence, rolling over and pulling the covers up over her head. Addy knew she was dismissed when she heard a soft snore.

So, away she crept. Passing her room, the woman instead slipped into the one next door. Before she even finished closing the door behind her, she heard rustling. At least her twins eagle wasn't as hard to wake. "I'm sorry Catabasis. Sira was supposed to take me with her for night duty, but she left without me. Will you take me to the Lookout please?" More polite than usual, Addy stayed by the door while she plied her case to the bird. She knew his temper and thought it best to keep her distance at first. She could have communicated telepathically with him, but felt it would be less invasive if she woke him with her voice instead.

She was trying to let you sleep. This is now the second time I have been woken. When are you going to get your own aerie? I wasn't aware we would be sharing mine. Oh yes, he definatly sounded grumpy. "I'm sorry. I'm trying to talk Sai into letting us add onto the rooms, but she's being stubborn. Maybe you can talk some sense into her." The healer was trying to keep her voice polite and neutral, but she and Catabasis did not get along. He was intentionally goading her now, but she wasn't going to fall for it this time. Not when she needed his help Humph. Alright. Get the little saddle, and hurry. It was clear that Catabasis would rather not take her, but she was his riders twin, and perhaps he was trying to be nice.

The giant black bird was saddled in the blink of an eye, only a fraction of the time it took Addy to saddle Sira. Catabasis stood perfectly still, while Sira fidgeted. However, Sira was willing to shift and stoop when Addy couldn't reach, and it seemed like Catabasis was standing as tall as possible, and Addy thought that if birds could smirk, he would totally be gloating. Being just over five feet tall, it was already difficult for her to get into the saddle even with help. Since Catabasis was the opposite of help, Addy had to grab a stool to even be able to mount him. Took you long enough. Came the snarky comment when Addy was finally seated. She had just barely gotten her foot into the sturrips when Catabasis was throwing himself from the ledge. Clamping her legs down on his sides and gripping tight to the saddle, Addy hunkered down along his back. The air was cold as it sped past her and wind was violent enough to rip the tie from her hair. Between the cold and the ends of her long, red locks stinging her cheeks as the it whipped around, Addy hoped the flight would be a short one.

Luckily, Catabasis seemed just as eager to get rid of her as she was of him. In no time, they were landing on the ledge near the lookout. Take the saddle off, I'll carry it back. The command set Addy's teeth on edge, but she slid down his side none the less and wordlessly unbuckled the saddle, letting it fall gently to the ground. "Thanks, Catabasis. I appreciate it." Though Addy gave the bird a smile, she wasn't sure he saw it. He had spread his wings and was lifting himself into the air with his back to her. Shrugging and trying not to let the snub bother her, Addy left the eagle to his business and walked along the ledge towards the building that had been built there as shelter for those on Watch duty.

There was a whirl of wings above her, the wind kicked up from Catabasis' passing above her tossing her hair everywhere. You're welcome, Aidara. Dimples appeared as Addy smiled at the big eagles retreating form before she called out for her love.

"Sira? Where are you?"

[The Lookout] Night Watch (Open)

Postby Sira on September 1st, 2011, 1:45 am

Sira chuckled at Fereo's comments to everything Renol said. It seemed that just about every wind eagle loved to pick on their rider. Even Sira liked to make it impossibly difficult for Addy to get her saddled and ready to go. What would the healer think if Sira ever just stood still for the entire process. She would likely faint, Sira was certain. When all was said and Renol had stopped talking Sira shook her head. "You shouldn't doubt yourself. I would probably have done the same thing. What happened, happened. And nobody died, so it must have been the right thing to do."

When he asked about Addy Sira smiled and leaned back against the wall. Everyone wanted to know about her and Addy, it seemed. Especially all the guys. Maybe they were worried the two women were off the market completely now. Sira chuckled at the thought. "Oh, Addy is fine. Her duties as a healer and an Endal keep her pretty busy though. That's why she's not here. We still need to find a good balance between the two jobs for her." Sira sighed. Sometimes she felt bad for the trouble she caused Addy. She was just fine as a healer, but Sira had to have a rider. So now Addy was stuck doing more than she could handle, and with a baby on the way life was going to get even harder. "Oh! We're also having a baby together! ..which, I suspect, is why I keep getting put on watch duty. My punishment for getting knocked up."

"Sira? Where are you?"

"Speaking of Addy," Sira continued, and then in a much louder voice, "I'm inside, Addy. Come on in. You'll never guess who's... wait."

Sira blinked in confusion and then jumped to her feet, running over to the door and peering out. "Addy!? What.. how did you get up here!?" Sira's eyes shifted to the fast fading form of an eagle flying away into the night. "You didn't... Did you wake Sai and have her bring you out here. You should have just called me. Sai is going to kill me!"

Renol smiled a little bit, bowing his head, “Well it’s good to know that there are some people around who think I did the right thing. Or at least not the worst thing possible, anyway.” He chuckled a little bit, taking a second to rub the scars on his thigh. They always had a tendency to itch whenever he thought about them too much. The wounds themselves had healed over, but the muscle just hadn’t completely knitted itself back together yet. He had to keep working them to make sure they rebuilt the muscle right and keep his strength up. So, whenever he got a chance to rest, he still had to massage the muscles and keep away the phantom itching.

Renol looked back to Sira when she started talking about the double duties. Renol hadn’t thought about that aspect of it before. Since Addy had become an Endal with Sira, she would have been having to fill two roles within Wing Reach. Half the time it was such a pain in the arse to fill a single role. He felt bad for the woman for having to fill two at the same time. But it was good that the Endal had a good healer to go with them for hunting trips and such. As was so painfully demonstrated before, it could often come in critically necessary. But his eyes widened a little when she announced the fact that she was with child. Renol had to admit that he was frightfully ignorant of Kelvic anatomy and physiology, so the fact that two women, even if one was a kelvic, reproducing was still a little foreign to him. That shock was only barely concealed across his face, wondering how it could happen. But his happiness at the news wasn’t contained at all. Over the shock a smile washed across his face, “By the gods that’s incredible! Congrad…” Renol couldn’t even get the words out fully before Addy’s voice floated over the wind outside. Renol smiled a little wider to Sira and her comment.

But his smile faded at the Sira’s change in attitude for a second. He didn’t fully understand what was going on for a moment until the whole thing dawned on him. Sira was here, and Addy had been back in the Aerie. So.. for Addy to get up here, she would have had to use Catabasis. And, knowing that bird, and his rider, they were going to hear about it in the morning. Fereo just chuckled slightly from his little next, looking up slightly from his little nap over to Renol Don’t you love getting caught in stuff like this? Renol sighed, shaking his head again, “It’s nothing. I’m sure Sai will understand it all and such. I just hope she took the saddle of Catabasis before he went back. That would be a pain to sleep in.” Renol stood from where he had been sitting and walked over to his Eagle, “I hope you’ll forgive me for leaving yours on for so long.” as he started taking off the leather riding saddle. Fereo sighed a little bit, stretching himself as it came off, It’s nice to have a break, but only for a little bit. We need to be ready if anything happens. Knowing our luck we’ll have to race off to save some stupid person from something before the night is through. If I don’t have the saddle on, it makes it harder for you to ride. Renol shook his head and set he saddle aside before he looked back over, waiting for Sira and Addy to come back in, “Get in here out of the wind, you two.” He chuckled.

The otherwise still night air rang with Addy's laughter. Catabasis' irritation at her was completely worth it for the look on Sira's face. Having heard Sira's call from within the only building on the cliff (She should have assumed they would be there), Addy was already to the door when Sira peered out. As the Kelvic's face appeared around the corner, Addy placed a quick peck on her cheek as she slipped past into the room

"Wow, I didn't expect the wind to be so bad. How can you stand it? With nothing other than this...lovely... building to break the wind, I'm surprised it's still standing." Slipping into the seat vacated by Sira, Addy crossed her legs and wrapped her arms around each other, hands working vigorously at her arms in attempt to rub some warmth into them. She should have grabbed a cloak before she woke Catabasis. Addy had seen Fereo outside, giving him a nod of welcome as she felt a rising excitement. That meant Renol was here too! It had been forever since she'd seen the Endal; hopefully he was in better condition than the last time they met.

A quick, knowledgeable search of Renol's reclined form put the little healer at ease. She felt her muscles relax and an easy smile stretched from dimple to dimple. "Renol, my love. It is so good to see you. Are you still doing all of your stretches?" If he had been moving around, Addy would have been watching his gate carefully for any favoring of his injured leg. Since he was sitting, she instead studied the cant of his hips, the way he sat, and how he placed his leg. "I'm assuming if you flew here, either Fereo is a gentler ride than Sira" A smirk to the Kelvic, who would undoubtedly take the comment as a jab "or you are feeling much better. I haven't seen you in the Infirmary for a while. Are you avoiding me so you can have Keah all to yourself?" Since Addy had been there when Renol was attacked, and was a major reason why he was still alive, she had taken his recovery as her main priority. However, once she bonded with Sira, it was much harder to find consistent hours to take regular patience, and thus her contact with Renol had fallen away. Undoubtedly, the man was in fine hands. Keah was very good at what she did, as well as being especially pretty. Addy had seen the way Renol looked at her.

"I suppose you also have heard that Sira and I are together. That makes me an Endal too!" There was a bright excitement in Addy's green eyes as she shared this with Renol. She was sure he had heard by now, but the two were in the process of catching up, so Addy thought it was a very relevant thing to catch up on. "AND! We're pregnant!" A pause, and a small giggle, before "Well, Sira is pregnant. I didn't want to get fat." When she said this Addy reached for Sira's hand and gave it a squeeze, giving the taller woman a glowing look. Oh, to be in love. "We're super excited. She's due this winter." Like any expectant parent, Addy could have talked about babies for hours and hours. She knew others could only be so interested in someone elses baby, however, so she changed the subject.

"It was nice of you to come keep Sira company during the watch, in case she fell and couldn't get up. Stranded like a turtle on it's back." Miming being fat and then rolly-polly, Addy wiggled her brows at Sira before continuing. "Why are you out here anyway? I don't know many people who would willingly drag themselves out here when they didn't have too."

Renol would have a good reason, she was sure. If Addy was the one who had a mangled leg, and was then ordered to stay cooped up inside for months on end, she would sure as hell take any opportunity to fly around and rekindle the bond between bird and rider. It was a silly question, to be sure, but it gave Renol a chance to tell the two women a little about himself.

Once silence had fallen between the three again, Addy piped up once more. "Who wants to play a game?" Like a child, her face was bright with excitement, her smile an impish one now.

[The Lookout] Night Watch (Open)

Postby Sira on September 14th, 2011, 12:14 am

Sira just shook her head and laughed quietly when Addy didn't answer her question about Catabasis, and turned to follow the healer inside only to find she had already sat down and taken Sira's seat. The kelvic walked over and put on a pretend angry face, hands on her hips, "Hey! That's my seat!" Knowing all too well that Addy wasn't going to move Sira instead just plopped down across the woman's lap, wiggly her butt around until she made herself comfortable. "I like it better this way anyway," she commented. Sira took all the jabs in stride, even laughing about the one of her rolling around on her back. It was quite the amusing image, but she couldn't just let Addy get away with it. "Hey, I like to think I give you a pretty smooth ride. You better watch it or I might show you just how bumpy it can get."

Despite their jabs at one another Sira was quite happy that Aidara had arrived, even though she had wanted to let her sleep. Any time the healer was around she was content, no matter the situation or location. She watched with interest as Renol removed Fereo's saddle, wondering why he had waited so long in the first place. Nothing interesting ever happened on watch duty, at least in her experience. Just to make sure Sira glanced out the window next to where she and Aidara were sitting, but as expected she saw nothing of interest. It was going to be a long night.. but at least she had people to entertain her this time. Addy proved her ability to do just that when she suggests playing a game.

"Oh! Yes, let's play something! What game?"

OOCBleh, short one. I hadn't thought about playing a game though. Good idea, Addy. I'm still going to see about having something interesting happen later on though.

[The Lookout] Night Watch (Open)

Postby Renol on September 22nd, 2011, 5:10 pm

OOCThat would be cool. Actually have something happen on a night watch would be different than what most people would see happening. LOL!

After his time of healing, Renol was able to carry himself well. He might have a faint limp in his step when he walked around the bird to care for it, but he still carried himself well with it and no one would ever think him injured just by looking at him. Renol was a very proud man, and he would never betray any weakness in his form. He made it a purpose to ensure that he always looked like a stone wall when he needed to be. But at the moment, he was more laid back and relaxed. The company of the two women would put anyone at ease.

Once he was done with the saddle, he patted Fereo on the neck gently before walking over and taking his seat by the window he had been at before, It is good to see you as well, Addy. It has been too long. I’ve been trying to keep up on them as much as possible. Fereo liked to pester me when I don’t. But more lately, I have been working on ‘practical exercises’ than just the stretching. Help me get back into my form as much as possible. Renol took a moment to look over to Fereo, who had fallen asleep on the bedding he had nested down on, “Fereo can be good when he needs to be. One of the things I like the most about Fereo is that he always challenges me, though, just enough to ensure continual progress forward without seeing me falling to my death. So, he knows when to take it easy and when to give me trouble. And everything is nearly completely healed, so he’s making sure I’m getting used to normal riding once more.” Renol shook his head a little bit, settling back into the chair, "Well, I'm not seen as much becuase I don't come in as often. I was trying to not come in so frequently so you healers didn't have to waist all your time on me and other people could get treatment they needed. And with the things I had heard about the goings on, I knew you needed as much time for other things as possible. So I went to see Keah. Truth be told, though, I can't say I don't mind. Shes no Aidara, but she's definitely a very beautiful girl. I hate to say I do like seeing her. I have to keep reminding myself of how much older I am of her." He chuckled a little bit before shaking his head slowly. He looked out the window once more to watch the surroundings, making sure there were no signals for help. While it was rather rare for anything to happen besides weather changes, there was a history of occurrences happening at night, so he wanted to keep an eye out.

He looked back over to the two of them as they sat there, “I had heard a little bit on it. Fereo actually knew more than I did, but would never let me know. The other Wind Eagles can be such gossips sometimes. He chuckled a little bit. He nodded again with the mention of the child. His mind was still trying to figure out how it could happen. Not in detail or anything like that. He wasn’t perverted. At least not all the time. But it still boggled the mind, at least for him, “Sira had mentioned that before. I was in the midst of congratulating her when you arrived. So, I will say it for the both of you. Congratulations. It is always good to see a happy family grow.”

Renol smiled as she questioned why he was out for the night watch, “Well, I wanted to get back ont eh rotations, really. Patrols, watches, things like that. Get myself back on the roster and get active again. I’ll only get myself back up to snuff by going and doing. Stretched and exercises are nice and all, but real experience is the only way to regain what you once had. So the night watch was open for another Endal, and I took it. I figure, if anything, it gives me more chances to go with Fereo. And I can possibly practice a little while we’re up here. I was hoping to get a chance to work on my marksmanship later when the sky starts to light a little more. Get myself ready to go back on another hunt before the winter hits hard.” He grinned a little more, “Gods know how much I’d love to go find that petching bear that did this to me and finally have his hide for a cloak. Myself and a few other rides and be ready for him this time. Not only would he be a bountiful haul of good meat, but I’d finally get my revenge.” Renol laughed out loud for a moment but immediately regretted his little statement from ensuing silence that followed behind it which was only broken with Addy’s mention and Sira’s seconding the playing of a game. Renol chuckled a little, smiling once more and nodding, “I think that sounds good. What do you have in mind?”
