Name: Alanys Hyacinth
Race: Symenestra
Sex: Female
Age, Birthdate: 22, Winter 50th 489 AV
Physical Traits:
Long, untamed white hair frames a delicately boned face set with deep red eyes and pale, full lips. The skin of this Symenestra is ashy, laced with pale grey and black veins under her skin in some of the more fragile places, but silky and smooth to the touch. She is unblemished completely and is a stunning attraction to any performer's guild due to her style and skill with dancing.
Alanys' hair is allowed to flow freely at all times, and even in dance it reacts to her every movement. She seems in perpetual movement because of this, even if her body is almost completely still. She wears often dark violet strips of linen around her body, but when she dances she wears a deep burgundy to show her devotion to Viratas and his ways. A swath of indigo fabric always hangs off her left calf when she dances, trailing behind her and imitating her movements every step of the way. Whenever she doesn't dance, and she wears the violet outfit, a red scarf drapes across her shoulders. A gold scarf hangs off her slim waist. Her hair has strips of emerald linen wrapped around some strands. She loves fabric, as is obvious, and uses it for pretty much anything she can.
Like real Symenestra, Alanys has a lovely pair of extremely tough, sharp claws that curl off her fingers and end in finely honed points designed for clawing as well as grabbing. Her fangs are a bit more prominent than most other Symenestra, and when they extend they are truly fearsome.
Personality:
A wildly passionate Symenestra. She has devotion to Viratas, to her people, and to the art of movement. She doesn't take insults lightly and always has her Lash on her person to teach offenders a lesson in courtesy. She is a devout follower of Viratas, one among the extremists, and has sacrificed her pet cat to the god once already in reconciliation for cursing at another Symenestra.
Throughout her life and tumultuous past, Alanys has found peace through dance and prayer. Even as she travels the land, performing as far away from Kalinor as she can, Alanys remains devout to the extremist ways she has grown fond of.
Alanys respects and loves only blood and dance. Heritage, connection, livelihood... These are all aspects of Viratas. She has an understanding of all things that bleed and their place in this world, but still will sacrifice them to her God. She takes offense at anything even remotely derogatory to her race or her God, and views half-breeds as a disgusting, but necessary, aberration to ensure the Symenestra race continues. Of course, Alanys doesn't show any disgust or contempt for anyone of such unsavory blood. She appears polite, if eccentric, at all times. Her aversion is usually shown in a reluctance to touch or be close to a half-blood. She believes, utterly believes, that they are contagious and will make her unfit to worship the God of Purity.
History:
The third child of Valadriv Hyacinth as well as the only female, Alanys is the daughter of the former Aerial Dancer, Sinali Orchid. True to Symenestra nature, Alanys' first act of love was killing her mother and feeding off her body. She grew up in the Hyacinth Web from then on, but while her cousins and brothers took up hunting, Alanys saw dancing as pure beauty. She followed in Sinali's footsteps, becoming just as good as her mother at an even younger age. She joined the Aerial Dancers at the age of fourteen and has performed ever since, but has recently started a "grand tour" of sorts of Kalea, planning to perform in as many places as she can. Perhaps, she believes, she will be able to lure eligible young women into Kalinor under the guise of being trained to dance like her.
A few seasons before her departure, Alanys began to take part in the extremist method of serving Viratas. Her first love taught her the fringe worship and she embraced it with open arms, killing her favorite cat willingly and then feasting on the still warm body. Even now that she has left Kalinor she still believes in the extremism she was brought into, but she moderates herself. Humans, she has found, tend to watch her more than other Symenestra did.
Likes and Dislikes:
Blood, dancing, and family. Those are the foundations of Alanys' likes. Viratas has the brunt of her devotion, and her adoration goes to her brothers, her most amusing cousin and the other, lesser ones, her father, her esteemed aunt and uncle (Nessora and Avadon Hyacinth), and her Web as a whole. She is defensive of her race against any other outsider, or lesser, race.
She is disgusted by many things, but laziness and mongrel blood top the list. Half-breeds are repulsive to her, and she knows without a doubt, that she will willingly give her life to birth a pure blooded child or sacrifice a woman to give her a child instead. As a dancer, sloth is frowned upon. Lazy people are worthless people, and they are just as bad as half-breeds any day.
Following the top two most repulsive things come the people who look down at her for worshiping Viratas. These people, like the ones who insult her family and race, become well acquainted with Alanys' Lash. She is not afraid to kill someone for insulting her God or her beliefs. Blood is all there is to living, and heaven forbid anyone should think any different.
