Ricky and Odis followed Miro inside, it wasn't bad at all really. Could definitely use some work but the place had I nice quaint feeling to it, he could feel a similar feeling he once knew before: home. Though this wasn't necessarily his house, it still felt comfortable like it. Once they found their places to sit, Odis sat comfortable next to Miro while Ricky sat on a plush cushion, Ricky found it within him to make up his mind. "I imagine that by teaching me that your taking a very huge risk, and perhaps giving yourself a higher responsibility than you'd like to offer. I know that there could be the possibility of my well being falling into danger, and I imagine that should I abuse or lose myself to this power you will feel incredibly responsible. But...." He paused, though he was excited before the weight of this decision was more heavier than he thought. "I won't disagree on your terms, just know that although I decide upon my decision it's one that I will make sure to follow through with." He looked at Miro with a straight face, to show that he understood well what his decision was. "I would like to learn magic from you, Miro." He gave a firm nod, knowing that there was no going back on his word.

"Good, if you are serious, then your first lesson will be to trust me with your life." Miro started to move his hands back and forth, making it into a jagged stake shape. He transmuted it to ice, and handed it to Ricky. "Odis close your eyes. Ricky, you are going to take that ice, and you are going to...jam it into your neck as hard as you can." Miro was focused on the ice, ready to tap into his gnosis as quick as possible. Once the ice would near Ricky's neck, if he did indeed attempt what was requested, he would melt the ice, leaving Ricky safe. Unless a bit of wetness would kill him. He waited, mind poised, for Ricky's movement. "Don't talk, just do what I say. If you do this, you will be my apprentice, and I will teach you all you need to know about magic. There is no shame in turning tail."

Odis looked to Miro and Ricky, his expression was clear. What did you just say Miro? However Ricky knew it was some test. He felt something inside him, some kind of feeling that told him to do it. Great, now I've got suicidal temptations. Though Ricky said that he knew the weight of responsibility, he was still unsure. Yet his mind was made up when Miro first offered the chance. Ricky looked at Odis, who looked at Ricky with the expression; you've got to be joking. Ricky wasn't, instead he nodded to Odis. Taking the ice he readied himself, thinking of only thing that his whole universe now centered upon. The fear had settled in, Ricky was unable to move. Though he stared at the ice with such intensity, he could not tell his arm to move.

He allowed the fear inside only for a little while, only to find courage within him. One. Two.... Everything came to a near stop with Ricky, Odis hid his eyes underneath his paws hoping not to see the damage that would be done. Three. He moved. Squeezing his eyes shut, he felt the ice coming close to his neck.

Miro's countenance was was unwavering, his mind completely focused on the ice. It sung quietly as it danced towards Ricky's neck. Time slowed as Miro's icy blue eyes followed it. It moved close to Ricky's skin, only an inch away. Miro could feel the fear in the air, yet he ignored it. He tapped his gnosis, melting the ice from the point back, not letting it get any closer to Ricky's neck. After melting the ice Ricky punched himself in the neck, coughing for a second. Miro smiled down at him and put a hand on his shoulder. "You have shown some serious courage my friend. Now, you will become my son in magic. Lessons will be long, boring, and just plain torture. But once the REAL torture begins, you will pray that I was only talking. Juuuust kidding...or am I?"

Miro removed his hand from his shoulder and began pacing again. There was so much to go over, so much to teach. "Where to start, where to start...hmm..I am afraid you will need to give me a moment to compose my thoughts. This is nothing easy to teach, and I have no experience doing so." Miro continued pacing, organizing his thoughts.

Ricky finally regained the thoughts that were clobbered out of his mind, the water ran down his arm and neck as his focus came back into motion. He found it humorous, Miro did plan on keeping him from getting hurt. However Miro didn't take into account the punch Ricky would've done, or did he? Odis looked more than relieved to see his master fine. Loving on Ricky as if they had been apart for so long. Ricky looked to Miro patiently, waiting to see what he would have to say.

[Avain Manor]Miro the Magician (Miro)

"Okay, let's get started. First, we will focus on the Flux. The Flux is a discipline of magic that is based around enhancing your body with djed. It has a few heavy risks. The first is from using too much djed. In this magic, heavy overgiving tends to result in self-destruction. You will go crazy with power to the point where you will kill yourself, and possibly the ones around you too. Keep this in mind, for the sweet whispers will draw you in, make you want to use the power more and more. The next risk comes to be more immediate and devastating. Pushing your body past its limits is great, but just because you can punch with the strength of five men doesn't mean your bones can withstand the force of five men. Know the limits of your body and realize the risk you take by cheating your limits. Learning discipline is a must.

Now to use it is an easy process, that can be very useful in combat. You must learn to move djed to the part of your body you wish to empower, then concentrate on it, absorbing it into your muscles. So, let's get started on pooling your djed into your arm. Here take and focus on one area. How about your bicep. Close your eyes and focus on that one point. Move your energy of your body to that one point and let it build."

Miro wondered how successful he would be. It was not an easy thing to concentrate your energy without practice. How long would Ricky take before picking up on magic. Some were quite natural to magic, and some needed a lot of help. How much he learned depended on Miro's teaching. If he can't explain correctly, Ricky can't learn. Perhaps there was something more he could do to help him.

Ricky wasn't quite sure what he needed to grasp, Miro said it was some sort of energy that should build within his arm. He wondered how it would work, how it would feel really, when he did this. would he be able to tell? Is transferring this energy noticeable? There was only one way to find out.

With determination he closed his eyes tight, and focused. His arm bulged as he would slightly flex it a bit, was this how he would start it? Would he grasp it by doing this? He felt there should be more, more to it then this. Focusing on his inner feeling, he dove into his heart to find something, anything that would bring out this energy. He wanted to find something deep, something that would make him feel a connection. Something that resided within his soul. In doing this he felt his core turn, and the calm ocean inside him found movement within it's waves.

Was this it it? Was this feeling the energy he sought? He looked to Miro with blank curiosity? "What it's like when you move this energy?"

Miro watched as Ricky struggled through the process. So far he was doing everything right, even if it all may prove only how frustrating magic could be. "To find energy, you must flex not your body, but your soul. Take the energy that resides within your very being and move it freely, as it was meant to be. When I build my djed up it is like a tiny fire in the veins of my being. A jolt of energy that builds as it passes along giving you the power to make what you desire reality. The very fiber of your body will flare with excitement from the energy passing through it, using it as it was meant to be, a fluid medium. Eventually it will become as natural as moving a muscle. You are doing very well my friend, now let's try one more time with a bit more heart. Close your eyes. Vision what you want, let it get your heart pumping, your body excite with the passion to do what your soul commands. Take command of your djed stream and guide it to where you want it. You will know when it happens, now just make it so." Miro placed a hand on Ricky's shoulder firmly to try to reassure him. He looked over at Odis and gave a quick wink. Ricky was capable, Miro knew that for sure. Now all he had to do was assure him that he had it in his grasp.

With understanding he nodded, the idea wasn't so hard to grasp once his mind was wrapped around it. Relaxing the tension from the flexing he did he focused more upon his inner self. Somewhere within the gentle ocean that resided called out, searching for something hidden within the depths. He dove in, seeking out the potential energy hidden away. He was sure he could find it, somewhere within. He took deep breathes, relaxing as time seem to stretch before him. He felt it was taking longer than it should, but was it? Was he taking too long? Has it even been long at all? Or has it been just a few minutes? He wasn't sure, all he knew was that one deep moment he spent lost in his thoughts was enough to lose track.

All this searching has gotten me lost within, but I can't fall from the task now. He felt Miro patiently watching, which made him feel nervous. He pushed through it, taking all the other vexing thoughts out and building a wall to prevent them from further distraction. He had to concentrate, this may not be so hard as he's making it if he would focus. The waves within him came to a standstill, and the potential energy he was searching for could be felt. Gazing within the deep he found something hidden, something that gave off some sort of resonance. Was this the energy he searched for? It must be...no it is. Ricky was sure this energy was exactly what he needed. Tapping into it, he felt something move from within. As he slowly opened his eyes, he felt something flowing through his body. Something foreign to him had flowed from his inner core, slowly stretching out to his relaxed arm. He felt stronger there, stronger than what he did just a few minutes before. This had to have been it.

[Avain Manor]Miro the Magician (Miro)

Postby Miro on October 19th, 2012, 1:36 pm

Ricky had heart and he applied himself well. So far Miro had done little to explain the actual method of controlling the discipline, only attempting to initiate him. There was a lot more he needed to explain. Feeling his djed would be the first step, likely the easiest as well. Miro hoped that he could jump start his control of djed.

There was plenty of understanding and work, but becoming in tune with djed for the first time is life changing. His student, he wondered if he could truly grasp what was asked so quickly. Things would get difficult now, for Miro as well. The Flux required a special lesson and training.

No doubt it was possible to find results in a short time, but it would likely require careful instruction. To harness his djed flux, he would need to not only be able to sense his pathways, but to use djed to influence them. There were other factors to take into account as well.

Ricky was entirely new to magic, meaning that his djed would be quite limited. Taking things easy would be key, making it very important he understand djed and could start tapping into it. It was possible, and from the look on his student's face, something had happened.

"You can feel it, can't you? That is your djed, energy within you. I have a lot to teach you, and this is where it gets deep. A lot of what I will tell you is hard to grasp, but you must envision and see it in your mind as a reality. What I have shown you now is the ability to tap into the djed in your body and soul."

Miro looked over the man once more, looking for the will that seemed so abundant. It was rare to see so much excitement from somebody so old. Usually only the young showed such enthusiasm. "Djed is the foundation for everything, magical or otherwise. You have very little to spare, but with training that will change."

It was simple enough starting out, but this next bit could be disheartening. "You have learned to sense the fuel used to create magic, that is not however the key to harnessing the Flux. Apart from learning to control your djed, you must learn to sense the pathways in your body. It is possible that you have even interacted with them just now. The key however, is to influence their flow."

The wizards mind began to nag at him to stray from the explanation and to attempt to demonstrate his point. The key to learning flux was the unity of the djed of the soul and the djed of the body. By tasking his soul, he could alter the flow of energy in the body, staying quite simple, but having various uses.

Miro stood up, sorting out how he would explain in his mind for a moment. "Alright, all of that being said, I can try and bridge the gap and show you the whole picture. Throughout your body, you have pathways, channels that move energy in the body. Through your limbs and core several main pathways exist and branch out leading even to the tips of your fingers. Using the Flux, you could take energy from your left arm, and direct it to your right, making it stronger, but that does not mean it can endure the stress."

With all of that explained he could finally wrap up, completing the introductory lesson on the Flux. "So, you need to harness the djed in your soul, and to use it as a catalyst to alter the flow of these pathways. I could go on for days with further details on djed, but you are lucky in that it is not our focus. Understanding can only do so much, what we need is actual practice."

The wizard cracked his fingers and neck, pressing himself to come up with something brilliant. "Now then, I have been lecturing quite a while. Sorry to give you so much information at once, especially such foreign concepts. Let's go through this all and make sure you are up to speed. After that, there is a way I may be able to assist you in your first redirection."
