10th of Fall, 511 AV
Darkness had fallen over the city of Ahnatep, and the area was beginning to cool down. To Adnys, it was much more pleasant during the night due to the lower temperatures. He'd always preferred the cold to warmth. Staring up towards the clear sky, Adnys attempted to recognize each constellation as he noticed it, an exercise he had repeated again and again, every night for the past one hundred years. The monotonous task somehow helped him think, and though he didn't know why, he wasn't one to question why something worked.
This was a strange new place, and Adnys didn't know if he truly belonged here, but he hoped that he could stay here. If he found that it wasn't the right place, he would leave; it was that simple, but he was going to stay at least long enough to find out. Anything less would simply be a waste of his time and an unnecessary risk. Going on long journeys had always been something he'd loved to do, but he still had to recognize the dangers.
If he were to find some sort of employment, though, Adnys still probably wouldn't stay here forever; there was a whole world out there to explore, and he wanted to experience as much of it as possible.
Out in the open, Adnys hoped that there weren't very many bandits in the city of Ahnatep. That was one thing he liked about Syliras, its amazing lack of criminal activity. That was something that he hadn't seen before.
Though he didn't want to, Adnys would be willing to defend himself if necessary. Another twenty minutes, he resolved, then he would retire for the night so as to avoid any more danger than he was already putting himself into.
