„Of course I’ve heard of the noble Trema family“, Lucas said. Now that she had mentioned it, he could indeed remember hearing about them. His knight had made him study the history of Syliras, but Lucas had always been more interested in fighting, going on adventures and playing pranks than sitting in the library, reading about the First Wing families, so he’d stuffed all those history related bits into a corner of his mind so that they had soon been as good as forgotten. He was still pleased to be dancing with a member of such a prestigious family now though. While his parents were good knights and everything, they weren’t particularly high ranking.

„You must be pretty proud to come from such a family“, he remarked. For a moment he thought that she had sounded a little angry, but that didn’t make any sense to him. Why should she be angry when she had such famous ancestors? She was a weird girl, he decided. In fact she was a walking contradiction as far as he was concerned.

He had been as good as convinced that she didn’t really want to dance with him, but then he noticed that her grip tightened after the song ended. He considered her offer to teach him for a bit, and then he smiled and told her, „I’d appreciate if you could teach me.“ Even though she was weird, she was quite pretty.

When did she want to teach him though? Right now?!

Xalet

"Well, I can certainly appreciate the result of your pursuit of physical perfection," Rachel's voice almost sounded like a purr as she slowly ran her hand over Xalet's upper torso, applying enough pressure for her to feel his muscles through the fabric of his clothes, "I haven't had the pleasure," the way the word rolled off her tongue seemed to give it a slight air of indecency to it, "of meeting a Squire as well built as you. I'm sure you even put plenty of Knights to shame."

As Xalet reached towards Rachel's face with his hand she flinched slightly, but quickly moved her head back and acted as if nothing had happened. She chuckled and grinned up at the Akalak at his question, "Oh, I think we're quite different Xalet, but that just makes it all the more interesting. Wouldn't it just be a real boring time if we were the same?" she ran her hand up and down his upper torso once more, turning a little above his waistline, as she took a sip of her drink, "Besides, I don't think I would be nearly as attractive if I had all the lovely muscles that you do."

Lucas

Lucas' remark caused Mendara's face to scrunch up a bit in a show of displeasure, but after a bit she calmed down again and flatly responded, "Yes, it's a wonderful family to be from," for a moment she seemed like she was about to say something else, but instead closed her mouth and clamped her jaw shut tightly as her gaze turned towards something behind Lucas.

"Well, don't you just look adorable, Mendara," a female voice, subtly dripping with disdain, spoke from behind Lucas, "I didn't expect to find you out here dancing. Won't you introduce me to your partner?"

"Hello Ingred," Mendara's distaste for the woman was clear in her voice, and Lucas could feel his dance partner shaking slightly, "This is Lucas, and he's practically a Knight already."

"Well, a pleasure to meet you Lucas," the young woman moved around so Lucas could see her as she smiled at him, "You can call me Ingred."

Ingred certainly was different from from Mendara. Taller, with brown hair, she seemed to move with a natural grace and elegance. Her white and yellow dress wasn't nearly as fancy or expensive looking as Mendara's, but she did seem to fill it out with a bit more feminine softness and curves than Mendara had.

Andresciel

"A pleasure, Ser Andresciel," the woman said with a charming smile as she lightly took his hand, revealing long and smooth fingers that did not look accustomed to any hard labor, "I am Elise. I must say, I don't believe I've met somewhere before who came to a Ball and then claimed to not fit in. Are you here on duty, instead of to enjoy the festivities then?"

As Elise spoke Andresciel would notice a slow change in the scent. While it had certainly not been unpleasant before, with Elise nearby the air seemed to be slowly gaining a light, pleasant scent, like one would expect from a bouquet of flowers or a small garden.
My posting and other AS work will be slow for the time being. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, and I'll try to get back up and running at full speed soon.

Andresciel's nose twitched as he looks down at Elise, a smile touching his lips as he shook his head. "Not duty, persay. I was just never one for crowds, even in my younger days. I guess its the brains in me outdoing the brawn." He smiles, offering a soft joke as he looks down at her.

He took a deep breath, inhaling the scent as he looked down at Elise, watching the young girl as if preparing for something. The scent was strange, but he could easily say it was perfume, at least, he thought it was. "What is that wonderful smell?" He would ask her, as he brought her hand up to his lips, kissing her knuckle softly.

Mendara didn’t seem to like his remark, but Lucas couldn’t figure out why. Wasn’t it great to be a part of such a famous family? For a moment the squire was tempted to ask her about it, but then he decided not to. He had never been good with words. He had never been able to word his questions carefully and would probably just make her so angry that she’d slap him and run away and ruin whatever was left of his reputation that probably wasn’t particularly good to begin with.

And then the other woman showed up. She didn’t sound particularly happy either. Women! Lucas couldn’t even begin to understand them! What was wrong with these two? Mendara didn’t seem to like Ingred, so why was she even talking to her? When Lucas didn’t like somebody he beat them up or at least tried to do so.

„I’m pleased to meet you too, Ingred“, he replied because he didn’t want to be impolite, no matter what kind of issues the two women had – and because she was rather pretty, even if she didn’t have red hair or six arms.

„Are you two friends?“ he wanted to know.

Xalet wasn't about to try to fathom he knew anything about Rachel. Certainly she had told him some things, and the way she acted toward him was completely unrestrained. There was always more though, the things that you didn't find out until later. There were quirks about his Patron he would have never known until he was involved in various situations with her. The same went for his mother, as close as he had been to her. Rachel was so open that it felt like nothing was hidden, but how could that be?

The akalak wasn't shy about physical touching, and Rachel certainly did plenty of it. She seemed to have a certain conversational wit about her as well. Where did she learn all that from? Was it a familial thing, or were their training methods of becoming Knights so much different? "It would be a shame, to all be the same. I'm...glad you can so easily see past differences. That is not something so simply done by others." Xalet replied, of course that was something of an understatement coming from an akalak living in a place like Syliras.

Xalet chuckled slightly at her comment, "Well, yes. I suppose you are correct. I would much prefer you as you are now. There is no way I can deny, you are quite an interesting woman, Rachel. We should meet some time, even after this Ball is over."
