A History Of Sorts “It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards,' says the White Queen to Alice.”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass Character History Nis’ah was laid into a pouch with seventy-five eggs in it, only her, her brother (Yallnella) and her two sisters (Versiya & Asel) lived. All in all it was a decent hatching, her mother was ending the time when she could bear children and she and her siblings were very healthy.
Her childhood was relatively normal; she grew up with her parents—rarely seeing either at the same time—and siblings in a normal Charodian manner. When she came of age to learn knowledge she was sent to school along with her family, though none of them ‘graduated’ at fifteen like the others.
At the age of twelve Nis’ah was on a scavenging hunt with her father—for it was his three day turn—and her siblings, they had traveled farther than usual and found remains of a ship! A rare find indeed! Excited they all moved in to explored but obviously it had never been explored for a reason, a large octopus as well as a pod of sharks. Too close to swim away her father shoved them all under a decaying board on the ship, tucked away safely they only seen the water turn red. They escaped one by one each pushing themselves to their limits to escape and the sharks did not give much chase, more curious than hungry and the octopus was out hunting.
Unable to take care of the children and scavenge, feed and work at the same time she pulled the children from school to learn how to fend for themselves before sending them back on their way at the age of seventeen. After the children fared well, often venturing out to the ship to mourn their father once a year.
Now finally finished with school Nis’ah wishes to know all she can, about everything, her mind is like a sponge it keeps wanting to soak water until it bursts. And that is exactly what she intends to do but she cannot do it staying at home, no she intends to travel the sea floor until she finds all the knowledge she seeks.
During her travels though she was captured on a pirate ship, the ship was attacked by Svefra, completely forgotten she sunk with the ship, stuck in the cage they had left her. And as her luck would have again she was found by a ship though this was full of slave traders who were fishing a few miles outside of Ravok where her prison had sunk. Upon finding her they brought her back to Ravok and sol her off. She now lives in the streams of Ravok carrying messages for people, her payment is bites of knowledge from the library and coin for her master--a (Human)man named Cohed.Character Concept
The first thing you must know about Nis’ah is that she has an irritating habit of speaking in third person. Thankfully she isn’t much of a talker—more a listener, though if you can get her riled up on a subject she feels passionately about, well, good luck shutting her up.
Out of all her siblings she is the only one with an urge for adventure, well not adventure really but a curiosity to know everything that she can possibly cram into her head. She has no desire to get into trouble and has no prankster, mischief or troublemaker bone in her body—so to speak. Her curiosity only stems as far as what she can learn on a foreign object.
Compassionate but not naïve she will help any who ask without asking for a thing in return—er, perhaps a bit of questioning if it will please her to ask you but that’s about it. Nis’ah is also--for all her scientific ways--a hopeless romantic. She believes in love at first sight, never ending love, happily ever after, ect.
Often it is found to be difficult to have a conversation with her—not only because of her speech habit—because she usually only likes talking about things she likes or she expects you to supply the questions and she gives answers. Due to her nature of wanting to learn more she is very straightforward, for if one doesn’t say what she thinks she won’t learn anything and therefore she has a horrid case of foot-in-the-mouth disorder.
Unlike most of her race she does not find comfort in playing music or dancing but composing the songs and lyrics to which others will sing and dance. She also seems to be slow at learning carving but has a knack for languages.
A stout pacifist she believes whole-heartedly in right and wrong and souls being corrupted. She believes that evil will receive its due an karma and the only way to stop wrongness is to not entice it and if someone does you wrong do not do them wrong in turn. Nis’ah believes it is no one’s right to judge others, especially since everyone has different views, one must only judge themselves.
A pious little fish-humanoid she believes in all God and Goddesses and tries to thank each at least once a year though, like most of her kind, she holds a special fondness for Caiyha, Makutsi, Dira and Kihala. Although she has a hard time thanking Krysus.
Though she has been in slavery for three years now she has not changed any of her personality. She has stayed much the same simply thinking it as a trip in learning about slaves first hand. |
