Clyde agreed mostly with Hadrian. If things had gone well with the last product, then they would do well to return to the last merchant they had sold it to. But if it had not... Well he might just send his guards to kill them. But there was little way of knowing until they asked.
Though Clyde did ponder a bit more on what he said... The Zariath? What was that? Obviously it had to do with magecrafting, and was a well known reference... But Clyde could not recall what it was, or who made it... Perhaps he should ask his teacher about it...
Though he did not like directly questioning his teacher, who knew what he might do! He had seen the man blast a man across the room with magic once because he felt the man had insulted him somehow... Best to be careful around him....
The two talked for a bit as they walked along, idle chit chat, but they eventually arrived at the merchants house. It did not seem to worse for wear, so perhaps things had gone well with the last item?
As the door was opened, he walked inside to see the merchant. His eyes lit up upon seeing them, with an odd mix of apprehension and excitement. He quickly hid one hand behind his back, though not quick enough to hide the clear bandages across one hand... Apparently he had been messing around with there last item, and burned himself, quite a nasty one at that.
"So, you have made something else have you? Well let me see it, perhaps I might be able to take this one off your hands as well."
The man looked curiously at the sword as Clyde handed it to him... Wondering what magics it held hidden in plain sight...
"So what does it do?"
Clyde stepped forward, ready to answer, holding his hands out to indicate the blade.
"As you saw from our last product, the magic is strong and holds permanently. This time we went for a much stronger enchantment in the blade. We added a moderate enchantment to its sturdiness, to make it more durable and resistant to damage. Anyone using it in battle will notice this about it, and many people who witness it in a fight will realize this is not a normal blade."
"But not only that, we also added a minor enhancement to its swinging speed, to make it go faster. That will be very useful in a battle! This one is not as strong, so wont be as obvious to outside observers, but when in use the wielder will be able to tell that it moves faster than a normal blade."
The merchant held up the sword, swinging it around a bit, testing Clyde's words. A small smile would break across his face as he felt the blade move. Surely he was already picturing how he would sell this work of magic, picturing the great amount of gold that he would get for retailing it.
The three of them haggled and talked for quite a bit, the merchant trying to lower the price, thus improving his margin on selling it. But Clyde and Hadrian were firm, and they finally settled on a price close to 9,000 GM.
More or less what they were hoping for, and a good amount to take in for their work done. Though the merchant did end with a short spiel, how if he found out they had cheated him, or the item did not do all as they told, what would happen to them... Their loved ones... And anyone they cared for.
Clyde withheld a snort at this, since no one really fitted into any of those things. He had no one he called close, and as for family... Well he could care less about them after all he had been through.
No he was unfazed by his words, since he knew that they had made a good product, and happily waved him goodbye, before picking up a large chest of gold sitting as payment for the item. A good day all in all, ending with hhim a good 3,000 GM richer! |
