Physical Description
Raised on the bounty of the Suvan Sea and its shoreline, Sirroco has grown to a full 6'2" with well developed muscle wrapped around a strong frame of bone. Though the contour of his muscles are not highly defined, fat is lacking on his proportioned frame. Sirroco's skin is bronzed from exposure to the sun, and his face still possesses some of the features of his teen years, making it more difficult at times for fish mongers and those he does business with to take him seriously.
Sirroco's hair is long and blonde, perpetually unruly unless bound in the occasional bandana. He bears upon his skin the tattoos of his history, having now belonged to three different pods, The latest, the octopus of the Baggywrinkle pod. The gnosis mark of Laviku travels his skin, vibrant azure and white and green in color. Sirroco favors loose fitting shirts colored red, white, black or forest green and dark trousers, though if fishing along the shore, he tends to go bare-chested if the weather allows, with his pant legs rolled up, or a simple length of cloth wrapped around his waist. He typically only wears his boots if he goes inland.
Character Concept
Sirroco is a likable sort, friendly and outgoing. He does not take offense easily, and may avoid a confrontation, or instigate one, with humor. On the other hand, his easy-go-lucky attitude may frustrate others when they need the fisherman to focus on something with sincerity. Discovering what lies deeper in his heart takes time and patience. Sirroco buries a lot of hurt behind his carefree smile.
Sirroco loves the sea, particularly the coastlines, where the beauty of sea and land meet. His favorite task is to spear fish in tidal pools with Tain, his tavan sea otter, though he is equally capable at spear fishing or harpooning in the open sea for larger game. Sirroco does possess a mischievous streak, and has been know to pick up small things that do not appear to have an owner at a particular moment.
Sirroco brushes aside the prejudice against Svefra that he often encounters, choosing to employ sarcasm and word-play rather than umbrage to deal with bias.
His home is his casinor, Misty.
Character History
Sirroco was the grandson of the lia of the Azure Pod who plied the Suvan Sea as proficient fishermen. An uncle recognized the young man's easy charm, a desirable quality when the pod needed to deal with outsiders, and took him under his wing. To the consternation of his uncle, Sirroco did not remain with the pod, for the young man himself had been charmed by a female from the Tempest pod, a family often employed in helping to repair boats.
Sirroco fell in love with Sybil Tempest and left to join with her and her pod. The Lia accepted Sirroco readily, whether for his fishing skill or his charm was unclear. However, bolstered by the presence of a mate, the strong-headed Sybil was often at odds with the Lia, and the tension between the two women mounted until, with much thought and discussion, Sybil decided to leave the pod to form her own. Her desire was blessed by Laviku, and the Baggywrinkle pod was born. Joined by Sybil's younger sister Sable and her mate Tungsten, Sirroco and Sybil set out in a palivar.
The small, young pod struggled to survive, but they managed. Nearly a year out, tragedy struck. A sudden storm took the Baggywrinkles by surprise, and the boat was violently tossed about. So fierce were the wind and waves that both Sybil and Tungsten were swept overboard, disappearing as Sable and Sirroco struggled to desperately cling to the deck. Their mates were never found.
Now, with the loss of their loved ones still fresh, Sable and Sirroco struggle to comprehend their loss and to find their way. The palivar remained seaworthy, but the two of them could not crew it, so the large boat was traded for two casinor's They still functioned as much as a pod as possible, honoring what Laviku had given to Sybil. Sable acted as Lia, and Sirroco faithfully supported her.
Post-Creation:
Sable and Sirroco's relationship became rocky, both haunted by the memories of their mates, and a dysfunctional romance between them eventually compelled Sable to return to the Tempest pod. Alone, drinking his meager earnings away, Sirroco debated on returning to the Tempest or Azure Pod when the call for a monumental expedition to Falyndar lured the restless Svefra to a new adventure, postponing his reunion with a pod. |
