She is simply somewhere in the middle. Her hair is a standard dark brown, worn long and wavy, and only ever tied up on the most important of occasions, when it is required that she dress up as a representative of the Silverstrider Pavilion. Her skin is fair, but not so pale that she looks sickly, and it is prone to tanning just a bit in the warmer seasons. Caoin's eyes, like her hair, are a simple dark brown, nothing overly noticeable about them. One might say that the most notable feature of her face is the constant look of brooding that she wears. She is lean and her body hides her strength well, you would swear she had no muscles if you looked at her, but she does possess the strength needed to fend for herself, though most of her strength lies in speed and agility. Caoin's Windmarks take the form of a spiraling knotwork design that begins between her shoulderblades as the heads and upper-bodies of two horses that are facing eachother. The knotwork works its way down to the base of Caoin's spine. The other marking that Caoin bears is a knotwork design in the form of two hounds that goes around her neck, much like a collar, with the heads of the hounds meeting at her throat and the tails at the back of her neck. Character Concept The Reluctant Heir Caoin Silverstrider didn't ask for it and if she had her way, the role never would have fallen into her lap the way it did, but she is the sole heir to the Silverstrider Pavilion. Her father only had two children, Caoin and her older brother, Ruith. In 509 AV, Ruith was slain in a hunting accident, a death that was truly no one's fault, and in the two years since, Caoin's father has been attempting to marry the girl off to a man suitable to be the future leader of his Pavilion. Of course, Caoin isn't making it an easy task for her father. The young Drykas wants to marry out of love, rather than being married off to the first suitable man (by her father's standards) that comes along. Her father wants to honor her wishes, but he also must consider what is best for the family as a whole. Caoin, before such a heavy mantle was placed on her shoulders, was more interested in learning the family trades. The Silverstriders are known for more than just their skill on the back of a horse, they're also known as breeders of high quality horses and large hounds. The Pavilion specializes in Striders and Quarni Wolfhound, but are known to breed other stock as well. This was what Caoin spent most of her time on, learning how to raise and breed these animals, and this is what she wanted to spend her life doing. However, her time has been spread a little thin as of late, as she has had to entertain male suitors. The young Drykas is reluctant to tie herself off to a man. Not a day goes by that she does not feel the pressure of being the only child of the Ankal, the eyes of her family are always on her, and she is beginning to attract the attention of men from other Pavilions. Character History She Comes in Screaming Spring, Day 53, 487 AV Caoin Silverstrider came into the world a healthy baby girl, screaming from the moment her lungs took that first breath of life. She let everyone know that she had come into the world, and then she fell silent. As the days and years went on, many began to wonder if the seemingly healthy baby was melancholic or if something else was wrong, especially when she was late in speaking her first word. Growing into a young child, the fears of her family were assuaged as she began to speak and show signs that she was indeed intelligent. It would appear that Caoin had simply not inherited the overt nature that her people were known for, being quiet by nature instead. The young Drykas was as fit and competent as any of her brethren, but she hid her strength and intelligence behind her unassuming nature, seeing no need to show off. Her aptitude for learning and retaining knowledge were excellent when she applied herself, but this proved to be a challenge in areas she wasn't interested in. Growing up in a Pavilion that relied heavily on trade to survive, she learned quite a bit of the Common tongue. Trade being important to her Pavilion's survival, she has also grown up learning the things she would need to be able to help her family with the business of breeding horses and hounds. Forming Lasting Bonds Spring, Day 50, 507 AV Drawing treacherously close to her twentieth birthday and still Striderless, Caoin's normally brooding nature was even more dark than usual. She had gone almost twenty-long years as a Drykas with no Strider, and a Drykas from a Pavilion of Strider breeders no less. Being the daughter of the Pavilion Ankal, it was quite embarrassing and frustrating. But more than that, it was frightening. A Drykas without a Strider can't receive their Windmarks and be fully accepted amongst their people. However, Caoin's luck changed three days before her birthday that year when she came into contact with a young dun Strider from her Pavilion's herds. It was a momentous occasion in the girl's life that filled a void she had been afraid would consume her. Celebrating Life and Milestones Spring, Day 53, 507 AV Three days following her bonding to the dun Strider that she dubbed Liath, Caoin's birthday arrived, and with it, a special present from her father. To celebrate her bonding and birthday, she received her Windmarks and a Quarni Wolfhound pup from her father's own stock of hounds. She gave the hound the name Sealgaire. These two animals became her pride and joy, companions that she would care for so long as they remained by her side. Taking up the Mantle Fall, Day 26, 509 AV Caoin and her brother were like any other normal pair of siblings. Because Ruith was the older of the two and a male, he was always protective of his baby sister, while never failing to teaser her when appropriate. They loved eachother and they were loyal to eachother, and each respected the other. Caoin respected her brother perhaps a little more than he did her, because he was to be the next Ankal... until the mantle of that role was suddenly shifted. Life for young Drykas males is a dangerous thing, this concept is not new to the Drykas and there is always the chance that a young male heir will die before he is able to take the title of Ankal. This was the case with Ruith. The Silverstrider heir was involved in a hunting accident, an event that no one could be blamed for, in which he was fatally struck by a stray arrow. From that point on, with no other male available to become heir, the role passed on to whomever her father married her off to, and it became a scramble to find a suitable spouse for Caoin.

He is a black dun stallion, the dun trait making his coat a dark grey, with black mane and tail, and a black dorsal stripe. Liath is a very calm and sound beast of high intelligence. True to the horses produced by the Amethyst clan, Liath is a remarkable animal. His most notable traits are his speed and agility. His yvas is a simple one, with purple knotwork and decoration that identify rider and clan.   Sealgaire Sealgaire was a present from Caoin's father, a pup from one of his private stock of hounds. He is well suited for the work that the Quarni Wolfhound are bred to do, being a strong and fit beast. He is trained to accompany Caoin and defend the Silverstrider's herds from theft and predation. The herds aren't the only thing Sealgaire protects though, for he is fiercely loyal to his mistress and her safety is of the highest priority. The hound wears a leather collar that is decorated with purple knotwork that identifies his owner and clan. With the loss of her brother, that bond grew even stronger, and he become something of a surrogate brother for the young Drykas woman. Skram is protective of his cousin, and she is protective of him, or she tries to be anyway. It doesn't quite work out as well when she's a small female and he's a big, strapping Drykas man. She does seem to think that it's her job to interrogate and investigate any young women that attracts his attention or attempts to attract his attention. Skram tries to say out of her business, unless it involves men. It made him a responsible young man, and he took his duties and his training very seriously. He wanted to be like his father, a man capable of looking after his family. Despite being a few years apart, Ruith was incredibly close to his younger sister, and fiercely protective of her, especially since she was his only sibling. She often followed him around, and he didn't mind it so much, since it made it easier to keep an eye on her. Though Ruith was to become the Ankal of the Silverstrider pavilion, he only focused on certain aspects of the family business, focusing most of attention on raising horses, while his sister was partial to the famiily dogs. Caoin found the girl to be talkative before the loss of her family, but never seemed to mind it when the she rambled, since Caoin is often not very talkative herself. She enjoyed listening to the girl talk about her family, particularly her brothers. She understands some of what Issima went through with the loss of her family, since Caoin lost her own brother. This shared loss and the fact that Caoin likes the girl, makes her feel somewhat like an older sister to Issima. The change in Issima following the death of her family was to be expected, such a heavy loss will alter someone without question. Caoin has simply done what any friend would do and offered to be there for Issima whenever she is needed.
