Fall 5
For what it was worth it, and he surely did hope it was worth it, the Dhani silently followed a caravan of slavers to their camping place. Right after the attack of the Glassbeak that his bondmate and he suffered, the Dhani felt a yet another sense in the air. Something far worse than this bird. Yet, his worry for his bondmate was too strong to abandon her rigth from the start, Sel had no idea on how to act. After the defeat of the Glassbeak, Sel's first priority was to get Nida to safety. And that's what he did. He carried her to the city of Edyrkas, and made sure she is safe. Of course, he wasn't going to wait for her to wake up. She was badly injured, and, as he knew her, she'd want to help in whatever it was the Dhani had on his mind. But he couldn't let her risk her life. It was better this way. Better to leave her there, and let her heal first. The damage that was done to her stomach was almost fatal. And, he was scared for her. He reached down, and planted a soft kiss on her forhead, and reaching for his backpack, taking out his flute. Now, Sel knew that Nida had things with her, so he decided to place his flute in one of her bags. Gently so it wouldn't break if the bag would be moved. She'd found the flute sooner or later. The flute did mean quite something to the Dhani, and he hoped, that Nida would understand his message. He'd be back. Soon. But there was no time to waste any-more. With only a soft whisper in snake-tongue, he hissed out the words "Wait for me." Yet so silently even he barely heard himself. After that was done, he quickly turned around, and started to run in the direction, where the now fainting sense was coming from. While running trough the grass, abandoning all roads, and following his primal senses, he quickly realized that the backpack he carried was just a burden that was holding him back. He sighed, but spent no second longer on thinking what to do. What he did, was take a wooden blowgun, and a set of ten blow-darts from the backpack, and then hid the backpack, together with his bear-coat, and his clothes, under some dirt and leaves, under a bush, which had just coloured it's leaves to green. Yet, Sel had no time to stand and observe the scenery. Oh, no. Far in the distance, he could see a moving shadow, and in the center of that, was his feeling. The scent that brought him this far. He wasn't going to stop now. So, now, the seemingly pale skinned, naked and starved human with a blowgun in his hands, ran towards the moving silhouette. As soon as he lost his clothing, the cold already attacked him, but, thanks to the adrenalin he had, and all the moving, he could barely feel it. He could barely acknowledge it. Even though he was a Dhani. A viper, nonetheless. He felt that he was growing immensely tired from all the running, sprinting, jumping, and rolling to avoid various objects that were in his was. He couldn't do anything else. He had to slow down. He had to rest up... He had to taste blood... Humans... It was clear now. the little control he had, was way too tired from all the running to tell the Dhani what to do. As ge got close enough, he could smell that the silhouette was, or, were indeed, humans. Not just one of them. In the distance, just as he thought, were four humans. And in the middle of them... Wrapped in chains... There was. Sel took a deep breath, as his anger arose. So that was what led him to these humans. A captured Dhani. |
