When the fissure opened up and ripped her from a celestial realm so beautiful there are no words in Common to describe it, her heart was shattered. She plummeted into a bleak sea that tried to choke the life out of her with its cold fingers. Without Syna’s gentle hand on her back, guiding her to shore, Arae never would have survived the choppy waters. She would have drown. As she struggled to stay afloat, she felt the warm proof of Syna's touch on her body. Her first few days on Mizahar were the hardest. She’d forgotten the burdens of living as her former race. The Symenestra are a people easily broken and having to relearn that was a series of very painful lessons that she’ll never forget. Because of the trauma she suffered during her early days she’s very skittish even in her Etheafel form and doesn’t like excessive touching. She also wears her bone corset and shell leggings under her skirts in both bodies. Her early mistakes almost cost her her life, but those days are behind her. Now she takes the time to test the water before she leaps in. Because Syna’s unblinking golden eye kept her focused when she would have given up or died, Arae survived those early trials, but looking back isn't something she likes to do. She never has, it's just part of who she is. She's always looking forward to what's coming next—the next hill, the next city, the next new friend. Until she finds a place to call home, she'll keep travelling and looking for someplace to settle. As long as she follows Syna, she knows she’ll never be alone. Arae's life is dedicated to following her goddess and eventually finding her way back home if the hole in the heavens can be fixed. Until then, she wants to learn as much as she can and use her gifts to make the world around her as much like home as she can. Unfortunately she's a slow learner and quick reflexes might not be enough to keep her body from breaking before then.

In Her Past Life In Arae’s short time on Mizahar, only a smattering of memories from her past life have found their way to the surface. Even her Symenos is rusty, but she doesn’t dwell on the fuzzy details. Her undying devotion to Syna takes up the space of that void. Who she is now is more important than who she ever was. During her short life as a Symenestra female, she was average and her web was small. She fell pregnant at the young age of twenty-four and the pregnancy cost her her life. She died before seeing her child. Only two things remain with her from her days with the Symenestra; a soft spot in her heart for them and a gut-wrenching fear of childbirth. When Leth rises, her body shrinks to a compact 5’2” and becomes fragile. She appears to be in her mid-twenties, but looks are deceiving. Her blonde hair darkens to black, her eyes change from green to gold and her skin pales to ash. Her acrobatics are as out of practice as her mother tongue, making her painfully breakable in her Symenestra body. The few memories she has beyond the ones of her last days are scattered and most likely gone forever. With the past firmly in the past, her new life is all about living as a daughter of Syna and someday finding her way home.
