Sel finds out a Dhani was captured, and has to abandon his Bondmade in order to free his 'brother'

The Wilderness of Cyphrus is an endless sea of tall grass that rolls just like the oceans themselves. Geysers kiss the sky with their steamy breath, and mysterious craters create microworlds all their own. But above all danger lives here in the tall grass in the form of fierce wild creatures; elegant serpents that swim through the land like whales through the ocean and fierce packs of glassbeaks that hunt in packs which are only kept at bay by fires. Traverse it carefully, with a guide if possible, for those that venture alone endanger themselves in countless ways.

What a pathetic excuse. (Solo)

Fall 5

For what it was worth it, and he surely did hope it was worth it, the Dhani silently followed a caravan of slavers to their camping place.

Right after the attack of the Glassbeak that his bondmate and he suffered, the Dhani felt a yet another sense in the air. Something far worse than this bird. Yet, his worry for his bondmate was too strong to abandon her rigth from the start, Sel had no idea on how to act. After the defeat of the Glassbeak, Sel's first priority was to get Nida to safety. And that's what he did. He carried her to the city of Edyrkas, and made sure she is safe. Of course, he wasn't going to wait for her to wake up. She was badly injured, and, as he knew her, she'd want to help in whatever it was the Dhani had on his mind. But he couldn't let her risk her life. It was better this way. Better to leave her there, and let her heal first. The damage that was done to her stomach was almost fatal. And, he was scared for her.

He reached down, and planted a soft kiss on her forhead, and reaching for his backpack, taking out his flute. Now, Sel knew that Nida had things with her, so he decided to place his flute in one of her bags. Gently so it wouldn't break if the bag would be moved. She'd found the flute sooner or later. The flute did mean quite something to the Dhani, and he hoped, that Nida would understand his message. He'd be back. Soon.

But there was no time to waste any-more. With only a soft whisper in snake-tongue, he hissed out the words
"Wait for me." Yet so silently even he barely heard himself. After that was done, he quickly turned around, and started to run in the direction, where the now fainting sense was coming from. While running trough the grass, abandoning all roads, and following his primal senses, he quickly realized that the backpack he carried was just a burden that was holding him back. He sighed, but spent no second longer on thinking what to do.

What he did, was take a wooden blowgun, and a set of ten blow-darts from the backpack, and then hid the backpack, together with his bear-coat, and his clothes, under some dirt and leaves, under a bush, which had just coloured it's leaves to green.

Yet, Sel had no time to stand and observe the scenery. Oh, no. Far in the distance, he could see a moving shadow, and in the center of that, was his feeling. The scent that brought him this far. He wasn't going to stop now. So, now, the seemingly pale skinned, naked and starved human with a blowgun in his hands, ran towards the moving silhouette. As soon as he lost his clothing, the cold already attacked him, but, thanks to the adrenalin he had, and all the moving, he could barely feel it. He could barely acknowledge it.

Even though he was a Dhani. A viper, nonetheless. He felt that he was growing immensely tired from all the running, sprinting, jumping, and rolling to avoid various objects that were in his was. He couldn't do anything else. He had to slow down. He had to rest up... He had to taste blood...

Humans...

It was clear now. the little control he had, was way too tired from all the running to tell the Dhani what to do. As ge got close enough, he could smell that the silhouette was, or, were indeed, humans. Not just one of them. In the distance, just as he thought, were four humans. And in the middle of them...

Wrapped in chains...

There was.

Sel took a deep breath, as his anger arose. So that was what led him to these humans.

A captured Dhani.

Unbelievable! Unforgivable! Unforgeable! How dare they? They'll see. Cursed humans!

Such, and even more drastic thoughts raced trough his mind, as he saw the convoy walking on the abandoned roads.

Two humans were in the front row.

The left one looked like the leader of the bunch, with a brown coloured jacket, and what appeared like a chain-mail shirt underneath it. A sword was strapped on his right hip, and he wore an eye-patch. He was the largest one of the group. Now, they weren't that close, so he couldn't actually see his face, but Sel knew that he wasn't exactly friendly. Funny, though. Because neither was Sel. The swordsman occasionally said a few stern words, and gave the convoy directions, while always holding on the hilt of his sword with his left hand. His hair was also brown, and long. He looked like some sorts of barbarian, now when you look at him again. The jacket's left sleeve was torn down, and Sel could see the bare muscles of the man. His hand looked the Dhani's chest. Sel got an uneasy feeling.

The one of the left, wasn't that tall, nor that buffed. He wore a blue tunic, and a nicely cut hair-style. He almost looked like a noble, if it wasn't for the fact, that the tunic was ripped on several occasions, and on the side, it was coloured red due to blood. It made Sel think that this man actually did stole that from someone. But, the fake noble had a quiver on his back, and a bow in his hands. A bow. Hmm. that reminded him on Nehsmay. She also used a bow. And from what he saw, that thing can be really dangerous. He should keep distance, and try not to allow the ranger to get a clean shot on him. Who knows how good can he shoot.

In the back row, on the left side, there was a woman. And with all remarks he could be giving out, she seemed a lot like a farmer. No, really. An old robe, a ripped vest, and a straw hat. She was supporting herself with a wooden stick, and, not to be up-tight, Sel wondered if there was more to her than just that. Because she looked weak. She was quiet. He knew that he shouldn't underestimate his opponent. He should be careful none the less.

There was one more person, on the far right, in the back row of the convoy. That man was holding the chain of the captured Dhani. He had no visible weapons, but he did have a whip. And with it, he slashed on the captured Dhani on quite some occasions, saying things like 'Move it', 'Don't try to escape', or 'We don't have all day'. With every slap the man, with a black coat did, Sel hated that human more and more. Even though there were no weapons visible, he will make sure than Siku has revenge on this human. How dare he abuse her children like that.

The captured Dhani, was surrounded by a swordsman, a ranger, a peasant, and a slaver. That's the names Sel gave to the Convoy. but the captured Dhani himself was in his Dhani form, his hands chained by a thick chain, and he looked beat up, and barely breathing. He looked like a constructor.Bigger than Sel. But this Dhani had stab marks, arrow heads, whip bruisers and others all over his body. He couldn't even survive a transformation in that state.

Sel slowly made his way after them. he decided to wait till night, and the convoy stops for a rest.

Then they will see Siku's wraith and redemption. In blood.

The convoy did move slow, which allowed the naked Dhani following them to rest up a tad, and replenish some of his strength he lost while running, and trying to catch up with them. But, now, as he slowed down, he hated himself for leaving that coat there under the tree. As the day turned to the second half, the cold returned stronger than before. And Sel was really cold. On top of that, the feeling of abandoning his Bondmate made him sour. He worried that she wouldn't get the help she needed, or that someone would take advantage of her weaken state. For a moment, he had to turn around and run back to her. But he couldn't. He spent far too much time following those. And it would be night soon. Every move he'd made till now would be useless. And he didn't want that. Siku wanted redemption. Siku wanted revenge. She wanted blood. And pain is what she will receive. Pain from those humans, who will cry for mercy.

Soon, the convoy stopped, and the peasant and swordsman went to set up a tent, while the ranger stared to gather wood for a fire. The slaver kept a close look on the captured Dhani. Sel, hidden under a bush, on his knees, observed everything. A flashback appeared in front of him.

It was on the day when a horse carrying a girl rode to him, and a blue leopard jumped in-front of the horse. And the minutes that followed after. The days that followed after. Almost the same scene as here. Gathering wood. Setting up a camp. Talking, finally after years of silence. Being accepted as who he really is. He never understood how and why, but he was gifted with something no money could actually buy. And those humans took that something away from that captured Dhani. No one should take something like that away. And sel reached for his blowgun.

Now, the swordsman and the slaver, tied the Dhani with the chain to a tree, and then disappeared in the tent. The peasant had his back turned to Sel, and was on her knees, appearing to be preparing some sort of meal for the group. The ranger, though, was patrolling the area they were in, and made circles. Sel decided to act, and placed a dart on his blowgun. the dart, as he prepared it, was already covered with poison, and so the Dhani waited for the ranger to come close enough to him so he'd be able to fire the dart. He knew his aim with this was horrible, so better that there is as little space between them as possible.

And it did happen. The ranger got quite close to the bush the Dhani was hidding, and after that, the Dhani blew with all his strength in the blowgun. The dart flew out, aimed at the direction of his neck.

And he actually did hit the ranger. The human, who was hit, suddenly got a weird feeling, and blinked. "Intruder!" he yelled, before wobbling, and stumbling back to the fire, collapsing to the ground.

The yell the ranger gave away, were a sign for the Dhani to get ready. He knew the blow gun was no longer usable, as now they wont just walk around and allow to be poisoned. So he closed his eyes, and started to shift. Started to move his bones around, and to reform them. His legs melting together into one, and his hair disappearing in his head. His skin, one inch at a time, started to turn into scales, and he grew in size. Almost two times the size of his human self. All that happened in just a minute, but for Sel, it took ages.
Because he already saw the peasant turning to the ranger in shock, and shaking him to wake up. He also saw the swordsman running out of the tent, and eagerly look around for the 'intruder', that attacked his friend.

And the swordsman found something. The bush, where Sel was hiding, was rustling, and moving due to the transformation, and so he, with his sword drawn, ran towards the bush, in the attempt of stabbing the bush with his sword. With a yell as he ran, he tried to pierce the moving thing that hid in the bush, without thinking what it would be. "Stand and deliver!" The swordsman yelled out.

But Sel was already on his own way. His tail curled down behind him, and his body leaned down as well. While that was being made, he started to gather the poison in his snout, and keep it in his mouth. He'd then jump, his trail straightening, which allowed Sel to go airborne, getting a cut across his tail with the swordsman's sword. He closed his eyes in pain, but imagined it away, as he he landed behind the swordsman, right after the said swordsman turned around to face his opponent, now exposed. But Sel didn't want for an invitation, and already spit the poison in his mouth at the human with the sword, in order to at least blind him, and lower his guard.

The swordsman thought, however, that all Dhani are the same. He managed to defeat the Dhani they captured, but this new one, had poison. And he never expected that. The drops of the green liquid fell in his eyes, his mouth, and his body. Now, as it wasn't really dangerous unless he would have an open wound, the drops that fell in his eyes were now burning so much he couldn't see anything, and he backed away.

At that moment, Sel felt victorious, and ran...or, well slide to the swordsman, with his lower jaw wide opened, in an attempt to bite the defenceless human.

...And once the bite landed...

The feeling was amazing. Sel actually felt like he floats. His eyes now coloured bloody red from the rage, and his teeth, his tongue finally got another taste of human blood. The swordsman moved no more.

The Dhani lifted the motionless body up in the air, and turned to the rest of the camp. He'd hiss, and he did note that the peasant froze in fear. Her skin became pale white, and he could actually feel the fear that emitted from her. Bah. Humans. Doing what they want, and when the time comes to pay, they get scared. Hopeless. He threw the body of the Swordsman at the peasant, and, once it landed on her, the giant human male covered the woman fully. He had no time to waste with that pathetic little girl who obviously did nothing but cook and clean for the group. So, once he made his way to the tent, and deal with the slaver, a cold, aching feeling went across his back. He would growl in pain, as he actually felt his skin, and even flesh, getting ripped apart. he turned around to see what happened.

And then he saw him. His calculations were false. The swordsman wasn't the leader. The slaver was. And now he saw why. He had a whip in his hands, but this whip wasn't like the one before. This one had metal hooks, and on those hooks, some pieces of his flesh could be seen. This..Weapon from hell...Actually work like his teeth! They rip you to pieces! Sel got furious, and backed away. Never before has he seen such a diabolical thing, made by humans.

And as the slaver laughed, he lashed his weapon at Sel once again. he tried to protect his face from the whip by covering it with his left hand, but as soon as he did that, the aching pain, enormously aching pain, erupted from his left hand. Pieces of his flesh left his hand once again, and the Dhani growled again. He used his, from the sword cut and now bleeding, tail and sweep in in front of him, trying to rise some dirt and earth up, and hopefully blinding the slaver, allowing Sel to make his move.

And once the slaver began to cough, Sel charged in again, and just after he'd make contact with the human, he'd spin around, using his own tail as a whip, and lash at the human, in the attempt of pushing him away. And to his calculations, the slaver actually did get knocked back, crashing against a tree, growling. But, just after the slaver tried to get up, he would already get Sel's fangs in his chest, trying to bite trough him.

Sel no longer played around.

And the Dhani did it. He bite trough the slaver, sending an overdose of poison in his body. Even if he would survive his bite, the poison would deal with him in a matter of minutes. Now, he could finally free the captured Dhani.

...But he was wrong.

He felt a piercing pain in his lower part of his body, which caused him to straighten up his back, and push his hands back, growling in pain. Not only did his back lack some pieces of meat, no. Now someone fired an arrow at him. And once he turned around, he also saw who.

The peasant. The only person who Sel thought wouldn't be a problem, delivered a perfectly clean hit at his back. His body shivered. He could feel his strength leaving him. He could feel his body becoming numb, and shaking. But then something happened. Instead of the peasant firing another arrow at the beat who killed three of her friends, the peasant, still in fear, actually did ran away.

Sel wanted to follow her. Really. But, he couldn't. He collapsed to the ground, and then dragged himself to the captured Dhani, trying to see if he was okay, and free him.

But what he saw, made him regret his every move, from leaving his Bondmate till now.

The captured Dhani was already dead. He was too slow.

Facts first: Injured as you were I'm afraid you won't be scavenging anything up from this group as you'd be lucky to simply crawl back to Endrykas and receive aid. Also, future note I'd like you to consider, you wouldn't and probably shouldn't have been able to best all three of those people unless they where absolutely terrible at fighting and even then you'd probably have been subdued. Reason being is that your unarmed skill is only 5, and thats the primary method of taking them down you used in the thread never mind the fact that you have zero blowgun skill listed and likely would have missed the archer or at least snagged the 'missile' ineffectually on his armor. Please consider these for your next thread.

Writing wise, I rather enjoyed your word play, and the way you had written it made for a rather entertaining story, and reminded me why I grading is so enjoyable. I look forward to seeing many more threads by you in the future, and would love to see you in the seasonal quest currently up if you have the time. If you have any questions just ask.
