Not found on any map, Endrykas is a large migrating tent city wherein the horseclans of Cyphrus gather to trade and exchange information. [Lore]

Denen smiled down to Sam as his head rested in his lap. He stuck out his tongue playfully, pulling a funny face. His full, pink pursed in thought as he plucked up a strand of hair, divided it into two parts, and began to braid it. This meant that his hands would be busy, and he would have to speak aloud. But his focus was on the braid, and as such, he had to remind himself to look up every now and then to see if Sam was talking to him. He didn't want to miss anything important, after all.
He gave a soft sigh as he adjusted the feather in the braid, before a single, long finger playfully poked the end of Sam's nose. He flashed another smile and raised a hand to speak. “There. You look like a proper ankal now.”
He leaned slightly over Sam, playing with his friend's hair as his head lingered in his lap. His smile became soft then, and he tilted his head to the side. “Perhaps,” he signed. “If Dohaina's foal were to choose me, I would be honored, but I know better than to get my hopes raised.” |

Sama'el hardly knew what he looked like, so infrequently did he look into something reflective enough to reveal his face. He owned no mirror, and there wasn't a great deal of still water in Endrykas anyway. He had the general unconsciousness of what beauty the gods had written in his blood that many a person raised far from stable, fixed settlements had.
"Thank you," he signed, his fingers drawling with a lazy grace. "And perhaps you will meet the right Strider sooner than that. I am going to start introducing myself and my horses to the best breeders in Endrykas. You should come along for some of it, meet some of those unbonded Striders, show them what they're missing." His smile was sweet and sincere. Had he been a Strider himself, he would have been moved to protect and succor the gentle healer. |

Denen grinned and gave the braid a playful tug. He was happy to be there, to hold that dark head in his lap and sign back and forth like they had before. As friends. There was more to it now, of course, but he would always be Sam's friend. No matter what. He brushed the backs of his fingers gently across Sam's cheek and smiled down to him as he spoke. It was easy to sit like this.
His eyes brightened as Sam spoke. “I would love that! I haven't been around the Strider herds in...a long time.” His eyes showed his excitement and he leaned down to press a kiss to Sam's brow. “But I must warn you in advance, I become a little boy around horses. You may expect giggles and blushing and much bouncing.” He laughed then, making an actual sound then, and shook his head. “What they're missing? You are sweet to me. Oh, Sam. I'm so excited. We'll have foals around. We'll get to deliver them ourselves. We'll have a herd and...and...” He trailed off, his hands dropping to rest on Sam's shoulders. “Think of what a beautiful mother Dohaina will make.” |

"They're missing you, of course," he signed, then reached out to tweak Denen's nose. "They will all want to be the noble steed of the midhusband of women and mares, hurrying you to each delivery. Gods, yes... foals..." He smiled happily. It was nice to think that Denen would be around to help him manage his herd, being a healer and all. And if Sama'el couldn't marry and have children right away, at least he could have foals to care for, and that was something they could share together.
"She will be a beautiful mother, and you'll have to help me deliver her foals, of course." He grinned up at Denen, comfortable in their little affections. |

Denen grinned at Sam's gesture, shaking his head. He appreciated it, of course. Sam was considerate of his loss, and gave him hope that he wouldn't have to spend a decade unbonded. His eyes softened and he tilted his head slightly. He watched Sam's mouth and bit his lower lip as color crept across his cheeks. "Yes," he signed. "And my hair will be blowing in the wind, and I'll strike a pose before I enter each tent." He rolled his eyes and laughed. "You can be my assistant. Foals aren't easy to deliver alone."
He stuck his nose up in the air with a mock attitude of superiority. "After all, I am a master healer." He laughed and his eyes danced. "Come on. Help me set up my tent." He shoved Sam playfully out of his lap and began to open up his bag so that he could rejoin his family. |
