[Sword And Plowshares] Working the Forge [Open]

The Isur shrugged as his hammer came down in a ringing blow on the blades edge, his dark eyes on the heated iron. "Sultros. Not seen one of those since I left the home." The Coglias Man stated as he glances at the Symenstra "Customer. Seeking a replacement dagger. He's a Symenstra." The Isur stated, as he lifted the finished part of the blade. He tilts his head to one side, watching the other Isur.

He dipped the iron into the water, letting the steam hiss as he set to work on the handle, rounding it within a mold by heating it and then pushing down with a sigh. "Fetch me the hammer from the other wall if you mind not, brother" The Coglias Isur asked, his emerald hand held up.

[Sword And Plowshares] Working the Forge [Open]

Postby Cryos Bladebane on November 28th, 2011, 6:22 pm

The Sultros looked towards him as he spoke of not seeing one since he left home. "We kept mostly to ourselves in Denvel," he said simply, no emotions registering upon his face as he looked towards the other Isur. Shifting his eyes towards the creature he now would know as a Symenstra, he nodded back towards the Isur, and said, "I understand." His tone was cold, not showing anything worth value in it when it came to speaking with an emotional sort.

Turning his head towards the wall, he picked up the hammer that he was motioned to by the emerald arm of the Coglias Isur, and handed it to him, his ruby hued arm outstretched towards him to give him the hammer. "I do not mind," he then said, looking towards him with his emerald eyes, giving him the hammer so that he could continue his work, and then awaiting further instructions if the other Isur truly wished for his assistance in the creation of whatever it was he was making, perhaps the replacement dagger for this Symenstra...

He held the dagger up, and tossed it in the barrel, as he looked around. "See if you can find a small box marked in our tongue with the word Izurdin." The Male's gemstone eyes saw nothing, as he sighed, shaking his head. Perhaps he'd been working in front of the fire for too long, and his sight had dimmed. He tilts his head to one side as he spotted a box, but not the one he needed. The one he needed was a special box, inside was a emerald stone that he used to mark his special creations.

Of course, most Isur's marked their creations, in some way or another, his was a green stone embedded in the hilt. He sighs, "It was green stones within it. My mark.". The Coglias explained.

[Sword And Plowshares] Working the Forge [Open]

Cryos listened to him briefly, enough to figure out what he needed to do next, which was to find a box of gemstones this isur used as his mark, a mark of his work, as all isur used. Allowing his emerald eyes to trail around the room they were in, he spotted another box that had a name upon it. Upon closer inspection, he'd see it was written in the Isurian language, and would pick it up. "Izurdin, correct?" he asked, briefly, to make sure he had the right box, as it said Izurdin in their native language upon it, and then upon realizing it was the correct box, would hand it over to Landeril.

He understood the need to mark one's work, it was a sign of the effort they put into making their artwork what it is, whether it be weaponry, armor, blacksmithing stuff or metalsmithing stuff. All of it was art, and design in the Sultros' mind, tools used for war, and defending one's family and such. That was how he viewed them so he understood the need to mark one's work, as he handed the box over to Landeril...

He nods, lifting the box as he pulled out a single green stone, placing it within the hilt. He closed his eyes, and spoke a soft prayer over the weapon, a prayer to Izurdin as he touched his Gnosis mark. He did not draw upon its power for this creation, as he felt it was blessed already. He picked up the blade, offering the hilt to Veldrys with a smile, "The work is complete, I hope you like it." The Male stated as he smiles to his Isurian brother "Great work Cryos"

[Sword And Plowshares] Working the Forge [Open]

Postby Cryos Bladebane on November 30th, 2011, 3:54 am

As Cryos heard his brother isurian compliment him, he felt a brief warmth within his heart, but allowed it to pass, humbly, his emerald eyes looking towards Landeril. "You're welcome for the work," he said, and then looked back towards the symenstra, nodding towards him, as Landeril gave him the blade. Turning back towards Landeril, he then said, "I should take my leave now, and go to speak with your master smith, unless you have other work at the moment I might be of service to help with?"

His voice was cold and distant, as he looked towards Landeril, still not having completely warmed up to the Coglias, but at least started to get to know him in some fashion. Working with someone could bring out the best in them, Cryos decided, and in that, he'd assist Landeril for now, so that he could gain some form of practical experience beyond what he already had within the smithing profession...

"Nah. Go speak to Jerzy, the rest of the work is my own." He stated as he looked down at the blade the Symenstra held as he turned back towards the forge, his eyes closing as he set back to work on that dagger he had been originally working on. He was slow about it, smithing the iron down to make it into a better blade, his eyes opening as he drew up the blade.

[Sword And Plowshares] Working the Forge [Open]

Postby Veldrys on November 30th, 2011, 6:43 pm

„Thank you“, Veldrys said as Landeril told him that he would make the dagger. „How much will it approximately cost me?“ he then wanted to know. As Landeril turned towards the forge, the Symenestra followed him, curious. He had never watched a blacksmith work. To him turning a shapeless piece of metal seemed just as complicated as a doctor’s work probably was for Landeril. How exactly did he do it? Even if he had the Isur’s strength, Veldrys doubted that he would be able to turn that piece of metal into something that even resembled a weapon.

„Of course.“ As he heard Landeril’s warning, he stepped back. He wanted to say more when another customer entered the forge – or was it one of Landeril’s relatives? Veldrys found it hard to tell those Isur apart. To him they all looked the same, short men with mismatched arms. Besides, Landeril had called the stranger ‚brother‘.

„My name is Veldrys, Master Bladebane“, the Symenestra introduced himself to Cryos as he heard the newcomer talk about him, pretending not to notice the cold tone of the Isur’s voice. Veldrys was, as always, exceptionally polite, no matter what he really thought. „I work in the Chapel, as an acolyte to the Chaplain himself, and I’m a healer as well.“

„Thank you.“ As Landeril informed him that the dagger was finished, the Symenestra gave the Isur the lightest of smiles. „It is good work. How much do I owe you?“ he asked again.

The Isurian Smith turned back to Veldrys "Two Gold Miza's." He stated as he lifted the metal bar of the iron he was working on now and began to smith it into a longsword, trying to fix a few flaws in the blade. It was a tough thing to do, mid-work, as a flawed iron bar could snap easily if not reinforced by steel or such. But Lan was going to do it, and by the gods, he was going to do it himself.
