Considered one of the most mysterious cities in Mizahar, Alvadas is called The City of Illusions. It is the home of Ionu and the notorious Inverted. This city sits on one of the main crossroads through The Region of Kalea.

Leaving her house Skugga locked the door behind her, heading down the street, some buildings she recognized others she'd never seen before. It was the charm with Alvadas to never see the city in the same way twice, but it was also annoying to have to navigate the city, you had to not really look for your destination but also you had to keep an eye open so a wall or something else solid hadn't appeared in front of you were a street was a moment before.
But to Skugga the intrigue and surprise of the city of illusions outweighed the negative aspects, if only her job consisted of something more than cleaning. Her boss Kirwen, disliked by every person in Alvadas though seemingly without caring about it, had made a vague promise that she'd be able to make a poison someday. But now it'd been over six days of cleaning, sorting the new ingredients and picking up broken glass from Kirwen's bad temper and she was rapidly tiring of the boring routine.
Muttering in irritation Skugga dodged around a stand from a sudden appearance of a market, wondering if all the people who'd just been standing shopping was moved with the city or was standing in a strange part of the city having to find the market again.
Shrugging it off she continued down the road and as she finally could see the sign for the Arrhizal Apothecary her frown lessened slightly. Walking inside she nodded to Kirwen behind his counter before heading to grab a broom so she could fix up the store before looking over the storage if something new needed sorting or cleaning.
"I saw that the Close Call and the Bloodroot are about to run out," Skugga said as she walked up to the counter after placing back the broom in the back room. They were easy poisons that didn't do much damage but they were still sought after.
"Well then why are you standing around here for. Get to work." Kirwen snapped, glaring at her. First taken aback Skugga nodded and smiled to herself as she turned around heading for the backroom where all ingredients and equipment was kept. |

Starting with the Greenblood Oil Skugga first picked out the large book she'd found on her first day and flipped through the yellowed pages till she reached the right side, though she'd studied poisons before she wanted to be sure she made everything correctly. Lighting a fire Skugga placed a pot with water over the fire before picking out the roots from the shelf she cleaned them and placed them on the table.
As the water started boiling Skugga placed the roots in the water letting the sap be drawn out from the roots and mix with the small amount of water, slowly the liquid was turning a faint red and the longer it brewed the thicker it became. Picking out four small vials as it stood in the book by the recipe Skugga watched for the brew to get the right consistency and colour, as described in the book a kind off red, syrupy liquid.
Grabbing the pot's handle she carefully poured the liquid into each of the vials, and even as steam rose from the hot poison Skugga could not smell anything from it, maybe the individual roots cancelled each others smell out.
While the Bloodroot was cooling Skugga read through the page about the Close Call poison picking out a mortar and pestle and went through the shelves looking for some bump roots and cleaned them.
Placing one in the mortar she pressed with all her might to crush the entire root into a yellow paste, her fingers started aching from her hard grip on the pestle but eventually she finished with all the roots she'd picked out. Grinding through the paste to make sure there was no lumps left Skugga put down the pestle and grabbed a ladle and proceeded to fill four small jars with the odourless paste.
Putting the small jars beside the Bloodroot vials Skugga started cleaning her equipment and put them back in their place and wiped the table before heading out to the main room. "I'm finished now, they are cooling on the table, Skugga said, satisfied with herself despite it being quite simple poisons and that she had had instructions.
"I'll check them later, are you done otherwise then?" Kirwen said looking as sour as always. "Yes, I was about to leave if there was nothing else to be done." Skugga said brushing back her black hair, Kirwen only nodded shortly in answer as she left, looking forward to several more boring days of cleaning but now she was making some progress at least. |
