Nothing seems aloof, missing, upset, no, nothing was the matter, how could it be? They have finally found, or are getting close to finding the ones that Madam Rayheart mentioned in her prophecy. The group was small, a team of four, but nonetheless they were efficient. With smaller numbers came faster travel and faster travel preparation. The four were all but invisible to the eyes of the Sunberth, their presence only being detected by those with Auristics possibly, and they moved sleek as shadows in the sunlight. They were protected by the blessings of Ionu, and graced with a silence footfall that marked years of practice. If one could see them such sight would reveal the group running through the streets of sunberth, their feet as quiet as silences whisper, and their movements gracefully avoiding running into anyone or thing.

They were told not to stir up trouble and only take those who were mentioned in the prophecy. Although names were not given, features, details, descriptions and mannerisms were. They knew what their targets looked like, and it was armed with this knowledge that they made their way across Mizahar and to Sunberth, to where poor widowed Rayheart ‘saw’ them last. These people needed to be found for it was only they who could unravel this evil that Rayheat dreamed of, saw, or perhaps hallucinated. They were the hand of the seer who could not travel herself, and ones to deliver a message of urgencies. Alvadas needs them, or, well, according to the prophecy that is.

oocAll NPCs are marked by Ionu, individual descriptions and names, and other such details will be reveled though out the thread. Remember they are invisible ;) Please post where you are at, perhaps be in groups so it will be easier to round you all up :D Don’t wanna miss anyone and leave them out. Short post is short, but it is a start.

The Library

Eri had planned to go to Alvadas much earlier, but his departure had been postponed by all sorts of calamities, including sickness and being a target of the organization that he had been hiding from and escaping since a century ago. The demons of his past had finally caught up with him, and though he managed to successfully, though with luck and surprise, dispatch a mere apprentice who was sent, he knew that if they sent their normal troops - the fully inducted assassin teams - he would not be able to survive. This meant keeping in the shadows and not letting himself be easily seen.

He was now in the dark corners of the empty library, a place filled with tomes of intriguing knowledge, but these gems were left unread for most people in this city were uninterested in matters that could not gain them instant gratification or practical applications. He was reading a book on intelligence, inspired by Zandelia's visit quite a few days ago, and though it was almost total darkness, a rare beam of moonlight managed to reach where he was in the corner and he used it to carefully read the tome. He did not want to sit so far out and so the space between the door and him would be his buffer space, giving him enough time to defend himself if necessary.

LIbrary

The door slid open without so much as a creak, swinging on oiled hinges surprisingly out of place in such an old location. The room smelled of pages, glue, and the slow rot of knowledge. Dhalvasha could see easily in the darkness, his own form nearly ghost-like by the pallid lances of moonlight. He had left Eridanus to read hours before, stopping by the clinic to refresh his supply of medicine and materials before returning to the streets. His movement today was short, wavy, uncoordinated. In the wake of the slaver assault, each body laid to rest in shallow graves or buzzards' stomachs...Dhalvasha had found little solace in sleep.

Shai haunted his dreams, the intense difference between her expressions in memory and recently scathing enough to prompt a crippling spiral of acute self loathing. He should have brought her with him, told here where there child was...but the barest chance it may end in the boy's return to Kalinor left the Symenestra speechless in the face of his past Web-mate, had left hatred where trust once dwelt. She had changed, and Dhalvasha found himself checking the walls of buildings or shadowed windows for her pale body. Would she descend with blade in hand and cut the information from his body? Would she accept his cryptic answers?

She brought unhealthy remembrance back to him, as though Kalinor had bled across the continent of Mizahar and crawled into his mind once more.

Did he still love her? It was hard to tell beneath the guilt and fear...and it had been a long time since Dhalvasha had forced himself to self evaluate so emotively. Instead he stayed near Eridanus, a friend who was more like to see him defended than dead. As of yet, the Widow had yet to ask the sometimes-vantha where his alliances lay...but for now, no blade had been pointed at his breast in Eri's hand...and that was enough for a place like Sunberth.

Running fingers along the spines of quiet books, he plucked one from the shelf, perusing the few short sentence introduction to a book on Shielding before leaning against the wall and regarding Eridanus placidly.

"Do your kind ever keep normal hours?" the Symenestra remarked almost sarcastically, eyes dull red over the rim of the open book.

Season of Fall, Day 79, 511 AV

Another day of working with Old Legs, another day of guarding, lifting and running. It doesn’t get any better than that especially since working as one of Old Legs’ Taggers was a bit more honest than it would be if you worked for other organizations. The pay was good, comradeship was there and the chance to ply his trade of swordplay was also a bonus. Zenai didn’t like it at first but Zenai was more of a mercenary than a guard. That suits him well; mercenaries were also paid well especially when they’re considered veterans and are known to get the job done. However, Zenai had a long way to go especially since he is still a Guppie.

He walked down the alleyways of Stumble Alley as he thought he wanted to take a shortcut through it to get to the Pig’s Foot. Of course, it was nightfall by the time he was traversing through the dark, cold alleys but Zenai was confident enough that he can handle anything that would come his way. It was either that or he was being foolish again. Zenai began to have some doubts and had second thoughts that he wasn’t that hungry. Figuring that he was in Stumble Alley, maybe the Library was somewhere good to hide for a while before the sun rises again over the horizon.

It took him some time to find the library but he managed to find it without being jumped by thugs and bad guys. He opened the door and creaked so loud it is as if it was shouting “Hey guys! Zenai is here! Stab this petcher!” “Stealth be damned!” He thought and just let the door close itself thus a long bang was the result. Zenai ignored it and got to walking about the library. He checked his surroundings and Zenai smacked his head when he noticed two figures. “Oh hey guys. Didn’t mean to be so loud.” Zenai grabbed a random book off one of the shelves. “I wanted to…” He read the title of the book. “…read about undertaking. Yeah… Undertaking. It’s an interesting subject, yes?” He leaf through the pages. “Yeah, so exciting…”

Ihnar had been sleeping in the library, mainly because his master, Eri was there. After a few tiring attempts at reading books about the use of herbs, he had found himself too tired to continue. Herbs were interesting, and important if you planned on helping people by healing and medicine... but it was just too late for the little pycon.

Now he was snoozing quite happily on a large book about herbs. Ihnar was having a lovely dream. He was with his mother, who Ihnar had not seen since being set free from his first master. Everything was just so surreal and beautiful. The little pycon wished deep down that it would never end. A small smile curved on his sleeping face.

Suddenly there was a loud bang, and.. the slavers were coming! They were coming to take his freedom again. No! This was HIS dream. Images of his mothers peaceful smile faded. There were now slavers everywhere, even his former master grinning at him.

Ihnar woke up and ran. He was still barely awake, but he ran.
'The slavers are coming!' He shouted as loudly as a small pycon could running out from his silent snoozing spot.
Being in the state he was in, he forgot to look where he was going.
They aren't going to get me! Where is Eri!?
Another loud bang was soon heard, most likely by everyone in the library. This time it wasn't Zenais doing. No. Ihnar had ran straight in to a bookshelf. Luckily his body was so small it only caused a few pieces of paper to fall from the shelf, one of them falling perfectly on his head.

Now he just sat there looking confused, with a piece of paper on his head. It began to dawn to him, that there were no slavers.
But what had the loud bang been? Ihnar squinted his eyes and tried to focus. His vision was not the best, having just woke up and it being so dark in the library. He could make out a figure standing some distance from him, holding what appeared to be a book of some sort.
I AM ON A HIATUS.

The Rooftops of Stumble Alley near the library...

"Here Nil, Catch!" Noth said as he threw the wooden disk he had made in the air towards the furred feline creature in their game of sorts. Normally he wouldn't have ventured high upon the roofs at all, but those in stumble alley, being between the commons shops, and the docks were in better repair. Even if the alley itself was a common staging point for ambushes from some of hte most dangerous criminals in the 'Berth and the private hunting grounds of the famed vigilante Lotharia Bloodrunner.

Hell , Tua's bounty on Lotharia was enough to warrant a second look at the fool who'd try to take her down. So why was he here today? Playing with Nil in a game of frisbee as she leapt to pluck her wooden quarry from the sky to rake her claws across it like it was some prime catch of a bird.

It devolved down to one name: Shai.

The symenestra had asked his help catching another symenestra with her, and he did not relish the prospect. The idea that another spider might try to envenomate his blood and dissolve his insides to muck was not an appealing prospect to him. But Shai said the symenestra had some answers for her, so he agreed without much hesitation. Nor did he pry into her business.

All he knew was that the mark this time was named Dhalvasha, a symenestra who had helped them by infiltrating the slaver's caravan for Nil's ... well it was best that he not think about that. Such happenings were best left for another time. Looking towards Shai, he'd ask her her thoughts and still be around to play with Nil as they waited on this godforsaken rooftop for Shai's word to catch her target... Due to the symenestran man's reticence for helping them before, Noth would prefer to do the job with the least amount of pain and fuss to Dhalvasha. But if push came to shove, he'd employ every trick int he book to get Shai what she'd need.

He owed her that much at least...

Nil’Anon was content to be in her feline form and out of the clothes and such that Antar seemed to insist that she wear in her human form. She was on the rooftop with Noth, the two of them playing. Well, it was playing and training as well. Nil had done this maneuver a few times in the past with birds, rather than a wooden disc. Jade eyes watched as Antar pulled his arm him and then snapped it out to send the disc flying. Nil would push herself off, her eyes following the arc of the flying piece of wood. Once it was within the limits of her jumping height, powerful back legs would push her off from the rooftop, sending her body up and into the air after her toy. Her paws would wrap around the object and pull it down and in towards her body. When gravity took back over, cat and object would fall back to the rooftop, her paws slamming the discus against the roof. After a few times of doing this, the disc certainly would not be in the same condition it was after Antar had initially made it. By the time Nil was done with it a few times, the wood would be dented and scratched beyond belief, but hey, at least she was having fun. It wasn’t like the training that Antar put her through. Swinging those silly blade things and wearing the armor that was too big. Nil found it hard to take it all seriously, she would much rather be playing.

Patience was not even among Shai’s concerns tonight. She had waited years for this chance and now at some point tonight she would have prize. Dhalvasha would give her the answers she was owed. It was an improbable hope the man would simply tell her what she wanted to know. Why he left, why he took the boy, where was the boy? All of these questions needed answering. The Symenestra woman had assumed she would never see the doctor again, but apparently fate had other plans.

The woman Dhalvasha had known was long gone, innocence gutted as efficiently as a seasoned fisherman might manage. . . . Or a surgeon. He had only himself to blame for the treatment he would receive at her claws. She would avoid drawing his blood although she was loathe to call him kin, he broke the connection first but she would not perpetuate the cycle unless necessary. The child was innocent and would be returned regardless of the means the woman had to use to meet her desired ends.

Sitting besides the rogue that lent her aid tonight, Shai idly watched their game of fetch. The thief kept a constant eye on the library, Dhalvasha was inside. The plan was to wait for him to exit the library, anything might happen in stumble alley. The real wildcard was Eridanus, what would he do if he caught the trio mid act? She didn’t know him well enough to be sure and she hadn’t bothered to ask Antar about him either.

As soon as Shai had seen Dhalvasha was present in Sunberth with her own eyes her plan had begun to formulate. She had gained Antar’s assistance and along with it Nils’s. Since then she had been trailing her former webmate, trying to discern if he had picked up any new skills she should be wary of. When he entered the library not far behind Eridanus, Shai was resigned to wait. Such a space wouldn’t be an advantageous stage for this escapade, too many places to hide or escape. No an alley would be best, where she could hide her associates until it was far too late for the male spider to escape.

Breaking her train of thought she answered Antar with a serious tone that held no room for misunderstanding, their task tonight was vital. "He is a symbol of perhaps my greatest failure and a sign of a weakness long banished. He will not escape a second time.” Briefly glancing towards the rogue, “There is no step I will not take to ensure I have my answers from the widow.” She returned her attention to the library's entrance and seeking even a hint that her prey was at its threshold.

The library? What kind of idiots actually went to a place like that during their free time unless they really needed to look up for something? Since Bob had nothing to look for today he was not at the library though he was pretty nearby at The Disappearing Drunk. One of the most dangerous tavern's in Sunberth only because it was the thing capable of removing the limiters in the already dangerous people who lived in the alley but a good thing about removing limiters? It made it all the more easier for Bob to actually make more money from his gambling works. Even if all the patrons in the tavern today had the similar aura of danger among them, Bob was still more than capable enough to pinpoint a few suckers here and there among them because losers always had the same quality. As soon as he had entered the tavern his eyes were already scouting around for his marks, and planning just how he was going to bring them all together to make it easier to collect their mizas from right under their noses.

First one which caught his eye was a burly man having a few rounds of arm wrestling at a table in the middle looking rather frustrated with a lack of opponents as Bob could tell with the pitiful amount of mizas displayed on the table as the normal practice. That was not actually bad because the muscleheads normally had not enough for their brains inside but Bob did not approach that one first. Instead he continued looking and found another man who seem like he could jump from anything he would not expect. Bob walked up to him from the front since he did not want to cause any problems with a smile as he asked why "don't you join in? You seem to be looking at it like it is the only thing which interests you in this whole tavern." The excuse of the lack of money was lame, or as Bob suggested because "taking him down will earn you a reputation at least." Why was the reputation important? Because women, like the revealing probably prostitute beside him told them when he asked her "what would you think of someone beating that guy over there?" is that they especially in Sunberth thought very highly of strength.

Now Bob had the two people he knew that he was going to beat and maybe, hopefully a fourth player only to keep the game running. To keep their interest in him for a little while longer he told the two that "you better watch this then" as he went to take a seat at the arm wrestling table. The big man shooed him off in disbelief that even if he wanted Bob's mizas he did not want his reputation to be sullied with an easy win but Bob really needed this one to join in. "Are you scared then big man? Scared that someone smaller than you can beat you at your own game?" Bob taunted which was normal to get what he wanted but was it definite that he was going to get what he wanted? Not unless the man knew what Bob wanted without knowing that he was being manipulated and the most subtle method Bob could use is through the use of his hypnotism which has been in effect since he started the conversation. All throughout the djed came out with each of his words as another group of words which gave a thought into his head "then beat him in his own game" though the man did not say it as nicely as that.

"Glad that you said that because I would not like to get hurt" Bob said giving off a fake cough to clear the rest of the blood which was coming from his mouth to make him seem even weaker. "The only reason I wanted to challenge you was because I do love a good gamble but as you said, how about a game of cards?" Gesturing over to the man who was wanting to prove himself and the woman Bob told them to "come on. Don't you guys have reasons of your own to want to join in?" as they have told him earlier. After they have all taken their places it was time to begin and Bob started shuffling the cards to tell them "the game is simple. We just have to see who has the biggest hand. I am sure being regular Sunberth tavern-goers you know the rules as well?" and if they did not it only will make Bob's efforts a lot more easier to attain. Unfortunately nothing was ever that easy since they already knew the rules but looking at the bright side of things "I won't have to waste time teaching you guys all over again. Lets just take it slow first to see how much you know." he said handing out the cards.

Bob saw that his hand was pretty good and Ovek wanted something to be done but was he going to indulge in a god's fancies? No, Bob was going to throw this hand just to get some insight on his opponent's skill levels. As soon as the game started he threw every single miza he had allocated as stakes for today's game and told the group "it is your call whether you want me to win or want to let yourselves lose." As he thought the musclehead was a good choice since he followed through and the jumpy one jumped out of this hand scared of Bob's confidence. The woman just smiled as she joined the jumpy man saying that there are other chances to win. "Looks like you already made your choices" he told the group and settling the score with the man who was stupid enough to challenge him. "Didn't I tell you?" he mocked victoriously and invited the man to "come and try to face me again?" Bob already had his moment of fun and now it was time to go and get serious.
