The Wilderness of Cyphrus is an endless sea of tall grass that rolls just like the oceans themselves. Geysers kiss the sky with their steamy breath, and mysterious craters create microworlds all their own. But above all danger lives here in the tall grass in the form of fierce wild creatures; elegant serpents that swim through the land like whales through the ocean and fierce packs of glassbeaks that hunt in packs which are only kept at bay by fires. Traverse it carefully, with a guide if possible, for those that venture alone endanger themselves in countless ways.

Fall 40

The wind whistled over the sea of green, sending ripples and waves of grass wherever it pleased. Nida, who wasn’t interested nor concerned with naming conventions, found the name of this place perfectly appropriate. She let her hands stretch out, feeling as the fibres tickled her palms. The familiar exhilaration filled her, as the beginnings of journeys always did. But the journey ahead was a long one, and in some ways, pointless. The purpose of going back was to bring Nehsmay to her home. But Nehsmay was gone. Still they moved through the plans and the routine, if only because it brought them solace. Both she and Seliarus had loved the strange and bubbly Vantha. Even without her, the Bondmates still followed her plan.

Neither Nida or Seliarus had brought up why they should go back. Nida felt the pull towards the North, the longing, the homesickness, but she wouldn’t bring it up. She was quiet now, quieter than she had been before this journey. Perhaps it was the realization of how easily the closely-knit group could break apart. Perhaps it was the re-emergence of loneliness.

Pathetic. Still thinking about how he left you? Or how she left you?

Perhaps, thought Nida, answering the voice that chattered within her mind. But you know the answer as well as I do.

I know. I just love to watch you wallow in that self-pity. You know it would be better if you just left this all behind. Just ran and ran until your legs gave out and exhaustion replaced all your worries. You could leave him, and you would never worry again. The voice sounded almost kindly, for that was surely the most gentle thing it had ever said.

I can’t leave, Nida smiled absently, knowing that this was the signal of the beginning of a familiar argument.

You will not think this, once he has used you and tossed you aside once again. You are too loyal, too passionate, too devoted. The snake will always take you for granted, you’ve always been there.

I will stay. You know this. I will be whatever he wants me to be. I can be content with that. She answered calmly, though the last sentence was a bit uncertain.

Ah, but for how long? The voice cackled, throwing off the gentle façade. With that, it faded back into the recesses of her mind, watching from a comfortably shady corner as it surveyed the actions of its host.

The Kelvic’s lively step halted for a moment, registering what the voice had said. Then with a grim determination, she continued along. Her steps felt heavy, and the full distance of the journey finally hit her. She turned to the familiar figure beside her, hearing the familiar sound of his breathing, feeling the familiar weight of his booted feet on the ground. She would run her gaze over his form, as if reassuring herself that he was still there, and turn her focus purposefully back to the road.

She wouldn’t speak unless he said something, and with the silent Seliarus, the chances of that happening were low. She wouldn’t turn from her course, wouldn’t react, wouldn’t follow any other action unless he told her to or a threat presented itself. Nida would continue to follow the trading caravan, a silent bondmate at her side, and a malicious voice cackling in her ear. The loneliness was kept at bay. It wasn’t much.

But it was enough.

On The Road Again [Seliarus]

On the road again. Yes, on the road again. Slow steps in the unknown direction. With no point of actually going there. The party they had for around a year now, disbanded. They lost one. They lost the Vantha girl, Nehsmay. And he actually didn't know why. Was it his fault? Maybe. The two women were friends with each other, and it could be that because of him being around, the two split ways. Maybe. But, then, why were they still going in the direction they were headed before? Maybe it wasn't him. It was still a possibility , though. All he knew was, that she vanished. He hoped she wasn't hurt anywhere. Hurt like he was.

Quite some time passed since the Dhani had woken up from his sleep, finding himself covered with bandages, and a pain that was worse than anything. He realized that he is always getting hurt somehow, in one way or the other. May it be giant birds, men with swords, or her. Sel's eyes slowly travelled next to him, to the blue girl, who silently walked with him on this seemingly endless journey. He was no saint, and he understood that in a way, he'd always make the wrong decisions, which might hurt him, or her. Like the decision he did a while ago to follow the slavers. He was asked not to speak of that again, but he knew that wasn't it. his actions had a larger impact, which should be shown in the future, not now. That's what he feared.

He offered her a smile. He tried to act as cold as always, without showing much emotions, because those....humanly...things, which were named emotions, brought more bad than good. They are just there to hurt. So thinking about nothing was a good idea. That's what he would be doing. In vain. It was not easy. It never was, but now it's even harder.

Even now, his body did hurt. It is going to hurt for a while more. The bear pelt he was given to was now once again over his shoulder. It might just be in his head, but he could swear it got colder. He wanted to say something, but, in the same time, he didn't. He knew not what he could, or should say. And, even though the silence, for him, was pleasing, he felt like he should say something. Didn't even matter what.

His eyes trailed once again over the Kelvic, now that she stopped for a moment. And once they started to walk again, he took a deep breath. His coal eyes now locked on the endless grass-y plain. He had no words.

Which actually frightened him.

OOCWrap it up in the next post please :)
The Kelvic felt his eyes on her. A troubled and cold mist of emotions floated to her through the Bond, almost totally concealed by the Dhani’s frigid manner. The carved ice of his countenance softened slightly, his pale lips pulling back in a small smile. She felt it burn through the thick layers of her clothing, leaving her flinching slightly in surprise. The Kelvic recovered quickly from the unexpected… Kindness? Greeting? Apology? Whatever the expression was meant to offer her, it failed to communicate to her.

Nida turned her head slightly, meeting his coal black gaze. He would want her to return the smile, would he not? Couldn’t that ease some of the strain between them? Hesitantly, the Kelvic tried to shift her expression to a crooked grin. When that did not work, she simply mirrored Seliarus’ expression. It was always so much easier to copy him nowadays, rather than fighting the urge to be different. There wasn’t anything to keep her jovial and passionate and vital nowadays.

It was always easier to just be his shadow.

Nida’s lips pulled back into a small and weak smile. He wouldn’t want her to be cold, though that was what he always was to her. The expression faded quickly, replaced by a neutral and tired resignation. She ducked her head to hide it, letting her black locks tumble forwards to obscure her face.

Good. Ignore him, chuckled the voice smugly, a smile carried on its words.

Nida’s head jerked up abruptly, not realizing that she had not been paying attention to the Bond. There it was, sadness, regret, uncertainty… how had she not sensed those? How could she not have reacted? The Kelvic scolded herself silently.

Tentatively, Nida reached her had towards him, threading her fingers through his. She hoped this simple reassurance would be enough to calm the conflicted Dhani. Her eyes would turn back to his, examining him with the very clear expression of “What’s wrong with my person?” that anyone with a domesticated pet would recognize. She hoped he wouldn’t doubt her intent, that he’d trust her enough to see that she was checking if he was alright.

What a loyal slave he’s found in you! spat the voice with vitriol.

“Are you alright?” Nida’s voice was low and soft. She could have been speaking of his wounds, his emotions, the general state of the weather. Her tone revealed nothing but a gentle concern.

The Dhani had tried to understand the woman besides him for so long, he slowly realized that he is mixing up her emotions with his own. It was weird, actually, that every emotion that the other felt was felt in two ways, not just the usual one. It was slowly made clear, that even if he could, hiding anything from her would be difficult. He just hoped that the same would count for her. He still had some problems fully understanding the emotions which flew through this invisible rope that tied the two together. Yet, he could swear that it loosened up. Just a bit, but it just wasn't the same any more. Maybe, he just got used on it, and he was just making it up, and he wanted to believe that. That thought had to go.

He felt her fingers trail in his own. her touch, and her warmth. He could hear her words, and even feel her feelings trough the bond. But, somehow. it all made him uneasy. He decided not to show that, though. If he wouldn't feel that, it wouldn't be real. It shouldn't be. He really didn't want to loose her, but, somehow, he felt like the Kelvic copied his essence in some ways. His imagination? Doubtfully. Was he, as the 2 "Non-Kelvic" part of the bond, affecting her will? He couldn't understand. For that, he should probably find someone who has a more vast understanding of Kelvics, then, from what it appeared, even Kelvics knew little about themselves. Or, maybe it was just Nida.

His eyes didn't return to her, yet, his hand gave her a gentle squeeze. Showing that he still had some energy in him. The smile, which she tried to do, seemed a tad strange, but, he understood that she could still be upset due to his actions. And he could understand that. He'll talk to her once they get to their destination.

For the time being, he planned of making her feel a tad better. he hoped, he could do that.

"I'm...Fine. Just have some things on my mind." He said, as nonchalant as he could. But for the next sentence, his voice became more emotional. More warm. "Don't worry about it."
