Basic Information Name: Kvar Driftweaver Race: Svefra Physical Information 210 Pounds in Weight; 6ft 3 Tall; Rugged build; Varying darker hair color; Deep blue eyes; Weathered but bright appearance and skin tone. Birthday & Age: 23 Years Old. Birthday, Season of Spring, Day 67, 488 AV Gender: Male Physical Description: Standing 6ft 3 tall, Kvar is of average height for his race, with a fairly rugged build, indicative of eating well, exercising in his daily living, and having a good life. The years at sea can be seen on his face, with his skin showing more time travelled than that of others his age, despite this he looks vibrant and healthy most days, for the very same reason of living in the open air all day everyday. On land he either has long black hair, short black hair, or braided hair containing trinkets he has found on his travels, it is usually changing as often as the wind. At sea his hair goes an even darker black in the sun, almost jet black by appearance. The Svefra’s eyes are deep pools of ocean blue that seem to go on forever, flickering with memories of a life spent at sea. Often seen with a small, neatly trimmed black beard, or occasionally with rough stubble, this can be braided or adorned just the same as his hair at times. Current Mood: Celebratory---> Quote: "Water is life. Breathe and know freedom to be yourself." Character Concept: Introduction
Short Version: Merchant Prince, Rogue, Magic User when he needs to be, Part time pirate. Can be friendly on Land, but vicious at Sea. Takes life in his stride, likes shinies, has a tempestuous relationship with the idea of certain gods and goddesses. Feels no need to play the hero when he's got nothing on the line. Flaws
Flaws: Easily Distracted, Over Indulgent Appetites, Never Happy on Land, Cursed for extreme Wanderlust, Anarchist even to his own schemes, Too many hobbies, always seeking out the next thrill, steals too often. Vegan diet really hinders him on certain landscapes. Curses some of the gods openly, and this will eventually bite or at least nibble at him. Strengths
Strengths: Can fall back on magic and surprise the heck out of people, plans ahead, is bold and confident, is well built yet agile, always looks out for himself first (helpful in a dangerous world), has a silver tongue, and can be charming when he decides to be. Long Version: Drift, free flowing, agile and reactive to go with the tide, our people were without the need for slow moving nets to find our treasures, as gods on the breeze. Our calling was manipulating the water into forms of our own making. Parting the water, to gain speed upon or under our mother ocean, the eye with which to see the hidden places in the depths. Everything is reused and reborn, my kin, the driftweavers of the wild seas knew this well, those of us with enough of an affinity with the ocean became one with the waters, we let them answer for us; the weavers always swam a stroke ahead, or further toward our home's calling than those of our other kith. Bonding with our ocean heritage as all our kind do, only finding the elemental flow at the center like water over the falls, fluid and everlasting. Such practices of course affect the wielder, as any magic does, but bring great gains for any ship captain willing to risk enough to use them. Svefra are known to respect he who is able to take what he needs, and so we created our realities with passionate fervour. Unnatural? Perhaps, but I feel mother ocean does not allow imbalances to exist for long, no we were generations before the fall. Perhaps instead it was too natural, too close to the source of what makes the ocean blue, as my earthly mother used to say. Dipping a toe into freezing water just off the stern, only to find yourself submerged up to the neck in unmistakable understanding. Take what we need, we certainly did, and more. The curse that came from pushing beyond these boundaries caught all of us by surprise, not plague, or some malevolent entity, not some old wives tales of hexes or afflictions. For us it was much more simple, subtle even at first, the water carried us apart, carrying those I knew to all corners of the world, separating families, and eventually washing away all attempts to find one another. Finally the last of us made a pact, not to give in to the lone wanderlust that plagued our every decision, and that is when the storms came, the ship I called home, a last promise, is now in pieces. Denying destiny is not for the faint of heart. Personality: Spiritual, and enjoys an adventure. Enjoys a good fight, or a bad fight for that matter. Can talk your ear off about an adventure when on land, but be your worst enemy at sea. He considers all the ocean his people's home, how would you like someone running through your home not knowing how to behave? Ethics: If you are strong enough to take it, you should keep it. Anything not held by another is free for everyone. One people, one ocean, nobody else deserves or understands its ways like the free Svefra, how can they, eagles were never meant to live in a cave. Recently Kvar became a vegan, making hunting all the more challenging, those last few weeks on the ocean were difficult, but his diet has slowly caught up to find everything he needs through trade or foraging. Likes: Almonds, anything with some crunch to it! Collecting pieces of ships especially draw his attentions, sparkling trinkets are also of interest. Delving into the spiritual qualities of water, and the ocean. Sailing, the ocean breeze, rain, rivers, streams. Water is his birthright and home, you'll never see him anything but happy when in contact with it. Dislikes: Kvar hates order with a passion. Generally speaking the young Svefra believes order is a barrier to be overcome on the way to growth, put there to test us. Nature makes its own laws, and even they are there to be broken, by those strong willed enough to do so. Kvar hates limits, of any and all kinds. He has a tempestuous relationship with the notion of gods and goddesses, viewing the world as one energy and whole. Some days any gods that even spared the smallest possible glance a mortals' way, might look favourably on such a statement, other days they might treat that philosophy extremely harshly. Languages Language 1: Fluent, Common Language 2: Basic, Fratava Language 3: Poor, Shiber (From Passing Trading) Character History: Pre-Creation: If you were to divide up an ocean how would you do it? Should you do it? Our people do into currents, where the ocean makes natural boundaries, we traverse each of them knowing which families travel upon them the most. No homes or fixed places of origin, just different experiences moving across a divide and interacting. We came and went with a lightheart in my youth, one people. Even so our family was the most dear to my kin, those with the gift. We were inseparable, for most of my life those bonds were everything in it. Driftweavers, able to use the waters to part them and increase speed, leave mist in our wake to slip by in the night, to spot the hidden treasures underneath the murky depths of the oceans, fallen treasures or relics. We would swim with a speed unheard of, pushing our will to carry us forward. Once we were a blessing to any captain that carried us, once until the forces we called upon, sort to carry us for their own ends. We pushed our mother ocean's magic too far, it rebounded back pushing us away from those we loved. Subtly and slowly the currents carried each of us away, until we no longer knew which currents we sailed on, further and further from our kin. From misdirection, storm, and endless dreams of wanderlust, their ships or captains took routes unheard of, some lost, others roaming far from where they intended to make port. The last of the driftweavers held fast to one last ship, named the promise, we held against the tide we had always embraced, fighting the lone wanderlust, that siren's call to take us from our known seas. Storms came, and claimed our destiny, I awake on a beach alone and with no way back to those I loved. Do the gods tolerate those who touch balance everlasting, yes, but not this day.
